@r3verendcrow thing is, due to high mormon population, a lot of them are very sensitive to caffeine since most arent allowed coffee or tea so they dont have it until like they hit teenage years where vending machines are in schools and allowance or weekend jobs they can actually get soda/coffee/tea depending on how deep they are into their religion
I do like how, in one of those clips, one of the "drunk" guys decided to attempt the hopak dance. If you're caffeineted out of your mind, you might as well try xD
It's cause mormons were always based in purity culture, but also have a history of polygamy. They only officially stop the polygamy when Utah became a state and the United States government said "Yo, that's illegal" 😂 there are still some facets of Mormons who do still illegally practice polygamy to this day, look up The old TLC show sister wives.
@may1351Yeah the majority of us don’t do that or agree with it. We don’t like swinging generally but the people that do are the people on the internet. Do not look at those women (like the “Morman Wives” as representatives for the average Utah woman. Most of us also don’t do the aggressive tans, those girls in the video are either so wildly out of touch or they’re absolutely trying to rage bait.
Hearing about this feels like being asexual in highschool and being like "oh no those are just Rumors everybody doesn’t actually do that" and then finding out they actually do
omg hualian! i love our pfp! also being asexual, i can relate to this so much. like i didn't know ppl actually gooned 😭 sounds niave but genuinely didn't know.
3:08 As a black Utahn in high school, it baffles me how DARK some girls will go with their tan, all while still having the audacity to side eye or make racist remarks to me or other POC students. It’s mind boggling and honestly sad
I'm black and went to a primarily white & asian highschool in the 2010s. Every school dance, spring break, or home coming event the white girls were getting burnt orange tans then trying to compare complexions. Queue comments like: "I'm almost as dark as you" 🙄 IMHO there's something uncanny about the way the tan and blonde hair contrast.
Thank god high school isn’t forever and there is a real world, that is very big, with people doing life in all kinds of different ways that seem relatively normal and peaceful. In other words, maybe someday they’ll go some where and actually learn something about life, I live in Utah as well, not from here and it is very much a bubble, not all bad but certainly it’s obvious that there are a lot of people without a lot of life experience here.
Wanna know what makes worse but also 10 times more hilarious. Mormons tend to put their depiction of Jesus up on the wall to remind them he’s “always there”.
I went to an all girl private high school which was mostly full of white people and the girls would always ask me "OMG how do you keep such a good tan" and I would be like "I'm Mexican"
13:23 Repression doesn't work, they're just finding every way to get up to the line without crossing it. In a way that's almost more degenerate, they're out here calculating the exact technicalities. Like...
yep! and religious people get married way too early in life just because they want to have sex without "going to hell". Like yes, there are young marriages that are perfectly healthy and last but I know damn well that is not true for everyone 😭
this is what I went through my teen years with and it taught me I was "ugly".. cause im not blonde, don't fake tan, no fake nails or lashes, and a size 10. the beauty culture there is CRAZY
The reason Mormons/Utah ppl are latching onto the Janko Jean trend is because its trendy and modest according to their standards. Same reson they like backflips so much, its one of the few things the teens can do to look "cool", they dont curse, they dont drink, not that u have to do those things to be "cool" I'm just saying they dont rebel in the typical teen way
What our teens wear modest clothes no way 😅😂 I’m just giving you a hard time. But seriously though, Mormon teens wear the same clothes as regular, we do the same thing as regular, hell a lot even swear, really the only this is no drinking and sex
Hate to break it to you but mormon teens from Utah are definitely cursing and drinking buddy 💀 Baggy clothes are trendy right now period, it's not making them "cool" or "rebellious". Plus saying that they wear them because they're modest is just a reach because most of these girls are wearing tube tops and booty shorts on a regular. It's just a clothing trend.
@lightningleopardso many kids are drinking & smoking though. Even in utah. It's not good. People are making fun of Mormon values but even Mormons are losing their values... like swinging is popular here i guess. Conservative is not as conservative as it used to be& it's actually concerning.
Utahn here, friendly reminder that most people here, LDS or otherwise, don't act like this, just the stupid rich ones who live in their own pocket dimensions. 🙃
Yeah, cause last september their ONE HUNDRED AND ONE YEAR OLD president who had voted against ending polygamy and against letting black people enter. Now they have a much younger 93 year old “progressive” president😂
@HarringtonsApocy girl what are you on polygamy ended officially in 1890 and completely for the LDS in 1904. Letting Black people in happened in the 70s so that one is at least plausible
My favorite thing to come out of Utah is the historical fun fact that the first woman senator came from Utah and she was a Mormon who ran against her husband and won. She was a physician and suffragette and once while researching I found a record of her being asked about the subject of plural marriage she said something to the effect of: “yeah, it’s great, actually, bc I only have to see my husband one day a week and the rest of the time I basically just pretend he doesn’t exist.” And that really spoke to me.
Martha Hughes Cannon was the first woman elected to a state senate and seemed like a really interesting person. Her take on plural marriage actually makes sense (from a 19th century POV): on the weeks the husband is with one wife, the other wives have the freedom for work, school, activism etc.
Her take on plural marriage was wildly out of left field in comparison to most women’s rights activists/suffragettes of the period. The place she’s quoted as saying this is in a discourse between pro and anti women’s suffrage activists prior to the addition of the nineteenth amendment and she’s being quoted by an anti suffrage activist who claims that Mattie Cannon is proof that women gaining further rights leads to the “dissolution of the family unit.” Which was a pretty common criticism of women’s rights/suffrage at the time. Overwhelmingly women’s rights activists furthered their cause by making the case that women needed the right to vote because women were the ones who would vote for and care about family values, public health, children (which statistically is true, generally speaking, women were the ones who pushed forward public health legislation, child protective programs, social services, etc.) so for Cannon to so openly advocate for what is in opposition of the rest of the white Christian majority of the women’s suffrage movement by happily being in a plural marriage made her a really cool case study for how a woman could navigate progressive politics in the nineteenth century but it was not at all the common sense or expected stance for a woman in the nineteenth century to take, even one who’d be considered radical and liberal for the time.
Professional hairstylist, I - is the professional in the room with us 😬 this whole video was a whiplash from start to finish. The hair, the tan that is almost near black face, the clothes, being barefoot at the gas station of ALL places. It’s TEW much going on at once
@xletragedyxthere’s no way. And I saw someone say they straighten and bleach their hair so much that it just gets shorter and shorter. I pray the shackles of this are released from them lol
the joke wuth ohio was making up some surreal shit to contrast how lack luster of a state it is, the craziest thing about utah is that there's no making this shit up
As someone who is in the belief, this is so true 😭 There's a big difference in disconnecting from lust and only viewing it as a way to be close with your spouse, and being clearly obsessed with sex and pushing the boundaries until marriage, that sort of mindset on intimacy just leads to quick marriages and a weird outlook on sex in general and its so sad to see.
IM STILL STUCK ON TRUCK JOBS AND CONVEYER BELT KISSING EACH OTHER like am I the only person who sees the huge 🚩🚩🚩 in this being normalized for CHILDREN?!
Whats funny is that so many Mormons in Utah (and especially at BYU) sleep around. Like its all this purity culture BS, but half of them are very sexually active
Alyssa greenfell explained the utah dent is because they've beed dyeing and ironing their hair since almost middle school, their hair is so damaged it doesnt iron well and the keep having to cut it ahorter and shorter
As an Asian/American woman who has lived in Utah for pretty much my entire life, please believe me when I say we're not all this cringey in Utah!! 🥲We have normal people here, I swear! These "Utahtok" kids are probably making that hard to believe though lol
As an European, all Americans terrify me at this point, but it's fascinating how each state manages to terrify me in a different way. It's like a haunted house.
I got mono is high-school while exclusively dating a Mormon boy. He never came down with symptoms. Mine relapsed 3 times in high school for four months at a time. I just recently had an actice Epstein-Barr virus flare up. It's so stupid to go around kissing a bunch of people you barely know. Mono is for life!
I freaking live in America and I am 99.999% sure that if I drank even a small cup of those, my diabetes would morph into type 6 and I would almost immediately shit my pants.
I honestly think self tanners shouldnt exist. People dont look very good, i might look like some worm thats lived in a cave their entire life but i dont look any better orange
@sim4296 It's because of this whole stupid thing were they associate being tan with being healthy. Like: bish you're white, you don't tan you burn, now stop painting your skin orange.
i have lived in utah my whole life and since it began to gain popularity, it has genuinely been so eye opening to see that this is not normal and that no one else understands this.
19:07 do they not know they could just like… be sober and go to actual raves? Being sober and/or asex is 100% respected and supported by the rave community. 🤷♀️
Problem is because of the high Mormon population we just don't... Have raves-? there are pretty much only a handful of bars (which need a permit to sell alcohol) and I think we only have 2 stores in the state that actually sell alcohol (besides beer, you'll find beer at normal stores and gas stations and stuff) Closest thing you get to raves here is church dances 😭✌️
They don’t agree with anyone doing drugs or drinking though. They wouldn’t go to a real rave because they don’t want to be somewhere that has actual drug use and intoxicated people. They look down on it. So they will have their own “raves” that coincides with their beliefs. They couldn’t care less if the rave community supports sobriety because the rave community also supports drugs/drinking. Also, they’re not staying sober for other people’s beliefs or opinions.
You’re way off on your generational trends. I live in Utah. jNCO jeans were popular in 2000. They went out of style and finally came back. Fashion is cyclical.
The gas station girls make me a bit concerned maybe I'm not good at judging ages but there is no way they are out of highschool etc. imagine going to your mum "yeah we're just gonna film some late night content at the local petrol station, no we dont need shoes"
As a middle millenial, ummm...this is just the early 2000s repackaged. The frosted tips. The JNCO jeans. The crazy mixture of textures. The insane tanning. I'm officially old. The JNCO jeans coming back is killing me 🤣
As an elder Millennial, JNCOs were more the emos and burnouts at my HS. Seeing cutesy, cheerleader-esque girliepops wearing them is so interesting! They're having fun tho, love it. 💕 The Justin Timberlake-Spike- peroxide-blonde trend coming back is so left field tho. lol
As an elder millennial who has lived in Utah my entire life, it isn't that it's coming back so much as Utah is 20-40 years behind fashion. In the 90s I diy clothing like celebrities wore and I stood out so bad 😂😂😂
I wish it was just rage bait. It’s not. This has been my reality for over 2 decades. Being a non-Mormon in Utah is a special form of hell I wouldn’t wish on many.
Could be worse, you could live in Kansas. I used to live in Utah, but I had to move to Kansas because it's cheaper to live here, but it is far worse then some cringy Utahans. It's the type of place you wouldn't even want your worse enemy to live.
My husband's family is mprmon and it's the worst when we go there. They are mormon. I have a septum and a bridge piercing. When we ate alone They like to tell the worst unmormon things, and I always get confused.
Hello fellow non-mormon utahn 👋 !! Growing up/living in utah as a non mormon really is a trip lmao. My mom also grew up here as a non-mormon back in the 70s and would take school field trips to the beehive house to where all the girls would be taught about how wonderful polygamy was. Insane place
It's also funny to think that strict conservative youth found all those names and ways to bypass the rules and have fun in secret AND HERE COMES GENZ not only broadcasting it on their public accounts, tags and location fully exposing everything but also explaining in detail what everything means???? Like girl that is not what your grandmother worked so hard for
@HarringtonsApocy if you think the mormon leadership freaks aren't closely monitoring how tight their grip is on their disgusting white supremacist community, you are more optimistic than i am
@HarringtonsApocyI mean the Mormon Church has been making a big push to partner with or promote male RUclipsrs higher into the church to reach The Youth
I honestly feel like a lot of these work arounds these kids are using to kiss each other and "share" girls are more harmful than.... letting teens experiment with each other in relationships safely. Like I have a hard time believing these kids are gonna develop healthy relationship boundaries and views
You are completely correct. Many Mormons/Utahns have a proclivity to choosing swinger or other “unusual” lifestyles because they have been incredibly sexually repressed for a long time. It causes a lot of strange loopholes to express themselves sexually without offending their fellow church members. It’s very very sad.
I can't help thinking the trend towards young marriage and parenthood is part of the issue. Also, being expected to have only one intimate relationship for your whole life.
I saw a video from a former mormon who used to live in utah who said part of the reason for the utah dent (specifically the bob version) has to do with the poor condition of their hair due the amount of dye/product that has been in their hair over the years. Also, those fake tans don't look good and very much look like blackface.
no way, she just sounds remorseful. like the way she grew up was the worst possible way. She needs to direct her angry energy towards real problems. Or real problematic people. But i’ve never heard of mormons as problematic people.
@Nunurbusinessp They’re not against it because of the caffeine, which is why soda is allowed. It originally had something to do with thinking that hot drinks(tea and coffee) were unhealthy. Alyssa grenfell has explained this on her channel a few times.
@Nunurbusinesspfrom what I've heard, it's... complicated. History, trying to conform to modern society without saying they were wrong in the past, etc
As an LDS member (not from Utah, I’m actually from Florida) the “word of wisdom” is a commandment that those baptized make (and keep) throughout their entire life. Specifically speaking, members commit to abstaining from tobacco, illicit drugs, alcohol, green and black tea, and coffee. The “caffeine” focus was more of a cultural thing. Overall, the “word of wisdom” broadly directs to eat healthy foods, take care of your body, and live your life in moderation and balance. God recognizes how our physical can affect other states of ourselves. The link between tea and coffee with caffeine can seem like an obvious one, but caffeine itself isn’t explicitly prohibited. However, in favor of a “spirit of the law” approach, if one is reliant on their energy drink or soda to function, then perhaps it may be beneficial to reflect on its impact. Another important thing is the principle of “agency” (ability to choose). God desires for us to have agency, but if an addiction (of any kind) or dependence is taking over our lives, then perhaps making steps towards freedom and regaining more control of one’s life is what’s most beneficial. I grew up in the church and the faith, but had abusive and neglectful parents. As a young adult, I am re-parenting myself and introducing myself to all faiths and spiritual paths as I journey through healing. Ultimately, we are free to choose, but aren’t free from the consequences of any choice we make. God explained that one of the reasons for the Word of Wisdom is to make the “Lord’s people separate” from the “world”. I have struck up many gentle conversations about my faith in natural ways through people’s observations of me following the “word of wisdom”. This isn’t something I have a “testimony” or “witness” over, but I’m trying to have faith as I study, ponder, and experiment in my healing process ❤️🩹
RIGHT! People like this scare me because you spend your entire life waiting for an authority figure to tell you why to do and have NO personal opinion outside of that?
Exactly bro. I live in Utah (sadly) and I’ve been bullied so badly. One time in elementary some wanna be cowboy, boy came up and asked me if I supported gay people I said yes so he gave me a bracelet with the words pride on it. The only question I have is what was his thought process behind this??? Was that supposed to make me mad???
it’s not so bad when you’re somewhere like Salt Lake City, then your eyes, ears, and tastebuds get a break from bland blond monotony. as a Utah guy myself when I say I love Utah I mean all the parts WITHOUT people. the desert is incredible
@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 inner salt lake city is more diverse, yeah. the more rural you get, the whiter and more mormon you tend to get. but slc is pretty good, we have one of the biggest pride parades in the country and my school offers a bunch of support groups for Black and Latinx students. it's wayyyy far from good or even decent but at least the classes only tend to be half Utahtokkers yk
Salt Lake is interesting, because it's where the exmos move. Basically the LGBTQ+ and Neurodivergent kids who question the church go to The University of Utah. The Normie Mormies generally go to BYU or Utah State, or UVU if they aren't smart enough to get into BYU (a lot of Mormons want to get in so BYU is the most competitive school in Utah to get into, even though UofU has better academics) Salt Lake City is more diverse than the rest of the state but not diverse compared to other cities. But it's "culturally" diverse in that there's a lot of punk/goth types in Salt Lake, since the punks and goths flee to SLC because it's actually accepting. There's just a lot of different kinds of people, as opposed to the Mormon homogeneity you'll find everywhere else. People in SLC actually have their walls painted colors other than beige. Outside, beige is the only color. So Salt Lake is chill, but the rest of the state is full of bland weirdos.
@Nikita-m2that's a good point. Still think that being that white in such a sunny place should always mean bathing in sunblock lol I truly hope they do 😫
@kconway2263because we had wallets with massive chains hanging off of them and a pair of airwalks so you couldn’t see our little feet inside the pant legs lol
100% agree. Skirting around it is just the same as breaking it. Also...SexEd failed these kids if they think "soaking" isn't justsex. I'm an LDS Utahn, born and raised, just btw. And literally all these trends are alien to me. It has to be a Salt Lake and Provo thing. I'm baffled by it.
Moved here from Texas a few years ago for work. im 29 now. Trying to transfer out. Its hell for me, super clique, every girl is trying to be an influencer or at least has a page they post on I am so sick of the gas station dances when i'm just trying to fill up my car - some guy but not too many. The soda shops are solid though! I love that! The fake tan & bleached hair is real though! Same with the baggy jeans at least among teens. The NCMO thing was super weird too - i thought that was some sort of restaurant or ice cream shop when i first heard it. The worst that she didn't touch on in the video - the sales bros! Never have I despised a group of people more than door to door sales bros.
To be fair I live in north Carolina I genuinely thought the same 😅 the mormon church basically owns that state to the point most their politicians are mormons and even enforce laws based on their religion pertaining to non Mormons buying alcohol and s*x toys from alyssa grenfells content (she is ex mormon who liven in utah) that state isn't even the most mormon if im not mistaken she said Montana is .
It is the Mormon capital of the world and most people there are Mormon, to the point you can feel like an outsider if you’re not so there’s a lot of pressure to conform. I've watched a lot of videos from ex Mormons, at least one still lives in Utah. It’s really interesting, her name is Alyssa Greenfell
@JasminMiettunenbut the problem with alyssa is she’s so vengeful of the way she grew up, yet she makes the decision for herself to stay in this angry state of mind by staying there. If she moved away, she’d be way happier.
@e@eviankpop1872 vengeful isn’t the right word, she’s not seeking revenge, she’s just talking about her experiences. She might be happier away from the church, but not away from friends and family, I'm sure she has a reason she stays. Even if she moved away, the trauma doesn’t go away.
See this is why repressing sexuality doesn’t work 😭😭😭 if you try to repress or condemn sexuality, people are gonna find a way around it, and it’s going to be weird
As a fellow south East Asian lemme tell you that living in Vietnam with my relatives and then having to come HERE OF ALL STATES in 3rd grade in the early 2000s to be with my parents was the worst thing to ever happen to me 💀💀💀
The soda thing is funny because the no alcohol, tea, or coffee rule is because they don’t believe in mind altering substances like alcohol, caffeine, etc. What happens when you drink decaf? And the only reason soda gets a pass is because soda wasn’t really a thing when Mormonism was created in the 1800s. Their whole culture is based around loopholes. Repression doesn’t work people.
It also has to do with the belief of being healthy and taking care of your body. (Which is funny because the increase of sugar and calories certainly doesn’t do it lol). In the past many members of the church had a misconception that caffeine was included in the word of wisdom (which is the commandment that says no coffee, tea, or illegal substances) but In the last few years the church has been specific that caffeine is not against the word of wisdom and has picked of in the Utah social groups so people have taken it as like “it’s aloud so we should drink as much as we can!” Like ??? It’s like a bunch of children who are going through a rebellious phase or something and aren’t thinking about the consequences towards their health? Idk bro it’s interesting.
We believe in not drinking alcohol, tea, or coffee because we believe that God told us that it isn’t good for us. We also believe He told to take care of our bodies. Soda is totally fine! It’s not a loophole, but I think the real issue in Utah is the fake members who are constantly looking for loopholes. If you aren’t convicted, you do not have to be a member of the LDS church! We believe, just like other Christians, that if your heart isn’t in it you might as well not be following the Lord. It will be the same at judgement day.
@WhitneySchleiffarth-357soda is not totally fine for you. A soda is worse for your health than a green tea (which has antioxidants and no known carcinogens). Meanwhile, soda is acidic (so bad for your teeth), as is the sugar or sugar substitutes used to sweeten it
you guys made the people who were starting to give this energy emigrate to america (the puritans) because they were, as was rightly observed, horrible, toxic, and not even fun. which has turned into WASP culture, which utah is, on whatever kind of crack makes one a pedophile. which i guess must be soda. which now that i've said it, tracks.
I’m chronically offline so I love finding videos like this and realizing.. omg THAT’S why all the people I’ve been seeing in public lately look like (insert viral trend I’ve just learned about). Also I’m from Indiana RIP
i am so glad i’m not from the midwest or rural areas as a black person. my heart goes out to the people of color in the those states, cuz lord this is tew much
soda drunk was created for the same reason "under the influence" becomes an excuse for bad behavior. they justify bad behavior with alcohol and then utah inhabitants justify it with soda
Ok, but in defense of the young lady who said she didn't consider herself a feminist because she didn't really know what it is: she's never been exposed to such ideas and quite likely has been fed anti-feminist sentiments her entire life. It's not her fault...it's her environment. Hopefully college will offer her a wider worldview.
Do you think she doesn't have access to the Internet. Would you as a human being be stupid enough to be told so many bad things about a topic and not want to research it at all to find out more about it especially considering its not dangerous to research. It's crazy that you think she is in the amazon with no Internet or ability to learn, she absolutely knows what feminism is she is a college student ffs 😂
@CurtisAsante-s2nLITERALLY THO like stop making excuses to be ignorant and uneducated. It's not because shes a 'victim' it's because she CHOOSES not to educate herself and do better. 😂
@CurtisAsante-s2n Lots of people figure out lots of stuff in college. For many people, it's the first time they are exposed to people with differing views, and the first time they get to explore such ideas. You must have had a highly enriched childhood, with exposure to diverse ideas and ways of thinking in a liberal open-minded environment that fostered asking questions and forming your own opinions without the potential for being ostracized for them. It sounds like you assume everyone had that experience, and expect literal teenagers (she might be 17, 18, 19) to know the same things you knew at that age. Maybe less judgement, more gratitude for what you had?
I grew up in the South. I thought it was the worst place to be geographically. I will take the sticks and old timey racists before I succumb to whatever Utah is. 😭
@jasmine.foot7 Im not sure if you're calling Utah the worst geographic place, however Utah is actually one of the most unique land formations state. Living near Utah lake the only natural disaster that we can have is Earthquakes. Any other one is simply impossible with Utah's mountains.

Ever hear of ‘docking’?
If you want to hear some thing, that’s a bit freaky that Mormons do look up soaking.
@PhancyPants12
Yeah, that’s a fun one especially when you hear them getting their friends to jump on the bed…
HOLD UP. IM A UTAH BOY AND I AINT EVER SEEN THIS
I’m telling you because I would want someone to tell me- your makeup looks really bad, especially the lips.
Utah just seems like an early 2000s disney high school PG-13 rated fever dream, right down to the made up words 🤣
it issss the birthplace of high school musical so
@toothpaste..my dad went to that high-school before it was filmed
No, it's sadder. Mormons have shaped early 2000s. Colonizing us😢
The accuracy. I graduated high school in the late 90’s and I never imagined there was a way to make JNCO look worse 😩😆
Filled with abuse religious psychosis and ocd, self harm, suicid3, extreme homophobia, extreme racism, extreme EDs, child neglect and kicking out.
the soda drunk people reminds me of kids pretending to be drunk without knowing what that is like 😭
Or like those kids on Pinterest who act like drinking one Monster Energy gets them "high" omfg 😭
@HazeAS go look at the caffeine content in 32 oz of coke. They're not caffeine sensitive.
I do like how, in one of those clips, one of the "drunk" guys decided to attempt the hopak dance.
If you're caffeineted out of your mind, you might as well try xD
Except they're high on kofeina
The purity culture being coupled with swinging is insane
I get being a bored teen hanging out at the gas station but for the love of god and tetanus, do not walk around barefoot there.
Hearing about this feels like being asexual in highschool and being like "oh no those are just Rumors everybody doesn’t actually do that" and then finding out they actually do
Oh my god yes
Off topic but love the Hualian pfp
Hualian!!!! I see u 🤭
This is so accurate this is painfully accurate
omg hualian! i love our pfp!
also being asexual, i can relate to this so much. like i didn't know ppl actually gooned 😭 sounds niave but genuinely didn't know.
The closest I've ever came to the 'Utah Dent' is taking my hair down from a ponytail. I'm debating hair ties at all now
That’s 100% what I thought!
😂😂😂😂
Im still confused as to why the dent is a wanted hairstyle! I hate when it happens lol😂
I was thinking the same 😂😂😂
Barefoot at a gas station 🤢😭
As a pathology student I audibly gasped. No no noooo 😂😂😂😂
@funeralsweetheart❤
Growing up in Florida, we had a beach, but you put shoes on when you reached the pavement.
I saw someone from Utah walk through a store barefoot and the bottoms of their feet were black 💀
Singing this in my head like “stoned at the nail salon”
Me as a French countryside woman watching this like it’s science fiction 😂
Pareil !! Même les trends parisiennes pour moi c'est loinnnn. Mais je trouve ça excellent à voir haha
I live in Oregon a few states from Utah and I feel the same.
@tara-y8b1lI'm halfway across this country in Ohio but still, this is crazy, I think we still do jello salads
Countryside German here, SAME 😂 It's literally a different world
Me as someone from Portland, Oregon, feeling very much the same….
Queue comments like: "I'm almost as dark as you" 🙄
IMHO there's something uncanny about the way the tan and blonde hair contrast.
@AmiriAbsurd I completely agree. The platinum blonde hair, burnt tan, piercing blue eye combo looks extraterrestrial
Im also black and went to school in Utah it gets better sweetheart but always always travel because its better out there lol 💖🎀💖🎀
Omg we in utah?? i would have to be a teenage runaway😭
Saying "soaking" is "self explanatory" is another level of delusional. And the idea of having friends there and shaking the bed is just gross.
Im up for extras but how is that supposed to trick god lmao????
And it’s not allowed. The old people in the church would not be able to hide their judgy looks if they find out that you did that.
I can see how “trunk jobs” in high school lead directly to soaking in those college bunk beds.
@megand12345 it's their first grift 🫶
😂
omfg....
bruh
I WHEEZED
Lol "this is the factory setting, I rolled off the lot like this."
From those calorie numbers I don't think it's the caffeine getting them soda drunk, I think they're all just on a sugar rush 😂
Yeah, adding multiple syrups and Coco Lopez/Coffeemate to a soda is a quick route to bonkers sugar levels.
You’re probably correct ngl
If even you Americans are scared of this, imagine how funny the Brazilian comments are when this pops up on our FYPs out of nowhere
Girl, we have our own homegrown weirdness here in Brazil, in a way that I don't even think UTAH tiktok is THAT weird
Wow okay that’s like someone from Crazy Land calling other people weird 🤦♂️ The entire world thinks you guys need therapy
@Eatinsandwichrn Really? I've never once thought: "Brazilians need therapy" lol. Actually never once 😂
@sideshowmob o máximo que tem é bolsonarista agarrado em caminhão na br em PE 😂
@EatinsandwichrnThe whole world actually thinks that the USA needs therapy.
They are so much more obsessed with s** and infidelity than people allowed to live much freer, it's sad
That’s why some religions never make the line clear so you’ll be afraid of doing anything 🤠
Be real they are obviously having sex, it just a way of justifying it 😂
NOT THE JENKOS 😭
this is what I went through my teen years with and it taught me I was "ugly".. cause im not blonde, don't fake tan, no fake nails or lashes, and a size 10. the beauty culture there is CRAZY
Hun. Whatever I just saw was NOT cute 😅😅. You are fine the way you are! Move somewhere more diverse💯😆
Wow, those “soda drunk” kids look like my old high school friends and the end of an anime convention. Just overstimulated and lost in the candy lol
The reason Mormons/Utah ppl are latching onto the Janko Jean trend is because its trendy and modest according to their standards.
Same reson they like backflips so much, its one of the few things the teens can do to look "cool", they dont curse, they dont drink, not that u have to do those things to be "cool" I'm just saying they dont rebel in the typical teen way
JNCO
What our teens wear modest clothes no way 😅😂
I’m just giving you a hard time.
It’s just a trend everywhere because they all have shoulders and midriffs showing anyway 😂
All I'm seeing is Utah finally reached the 2000's. Can't wait for them to hit the 2010's 😂
Yeah, cause last september their ONE HUNDRED AND ONE YEAR OLD president who had voted against ending polygamy and against letting black people enter. Now they have a much younger 93 year old “progressive” president😂
Utah moving at the same pace as my country in terms of trends
Can’t wait for the wave of Mormon NFTs in 40 or 50 years
@HarringtonsApocyGURL ARE U BEING FR? 😭😭😭 oml
Lmao good for her that’s sounds nice😂
what a queen
At that point just get a divorce 😭
Does the audio cut for anyone at 0:15
It was probably a copyright violation or something
@Purple_guy_e5k I hope not, this would be such a lazy fix
@thenumber1stupifierI think sometimes RUclips does it automatically when there's copyrighted music in the background, it's very dumb
Probably copyright
It cut at 8:10 too. Seems like a copyright violation fix
Professional hairstylist, I - is the professional in the room with us 😬 this whole video was a whiplash from start to finish. The hair, the tan that is almost near black face, the clothes, being barefoot at the gas station of ALL places. It’s TEW much going on at once
Utah dent is when you have a ponytail for a long time and take it out. Imagine going to a stylist and paying for it
We should get some sort of payment for emotional damage and vision abuse
@xletragedyxthere’s no way. And I saw someone say they straighten and bleach their hair so much that it just gets shorter and shorter. I pray the shackles of this are released from them lol
Your pfp is so pretty it makes me wanna fall over
@nikkigulayan3754forreal, it's a crime that my recommendations can jumpscare me with this shit at any moment
Genuinely baffles me how the state joke has advanced from Ohio to Utah expect Utah is just troglodyte level
the joke wuth ohio was making up some surreal shit to contrast how lack luster of a state it is, the craziest thing about utah is that there's no making this shit up
Calling Utah _troglodyte_ is an insult to *actual* troglodytes: chimps.
_Pan troglodyte_ is the scientific name for the chimpanzee.
The "putting our kids to bed then going to Dixie Rock" video is extra crazy, because not one of those girls looks over 18. 😬
The weird sexual repression, purity bs, this is not SAFE. This is like preparation for abusive and toxic behaviour.
Yeah. It’s Utah 🤨
haha!! why is this contradictory 😂
That’s not true. It’s a hairstyle. You use a curling iron. The reason why people’s hair is short is because bobs are trendy.
Her content is SO good.
@mkd4780 It might be that now, but it could have become trendy after this happened.
@mkd4780 it became trendy bc their hair was dead
@mkd4780why are you acting like two things can’t be true at the same time
As an Asian/American woman who has lived in Utah for pretty much my entire life, please believe me when I say we're not all this cringey in Utah!! 🥲We have normal people here, I swear! These "Utahtok" kids are probably making that hard to believe though lol
Exactly!! ❤
As someone from Europe I'm not sure I believe you 🤣😜 the evidence is stacked against you guys 😂😂😂 xx
@stephs8785😭
Shhhhhh be quiet, housing here has gotten outta control. Let these kids keep doin this, maybe it’ll keep people from moving here haha
@stephs8785 not surprising unfortunately, Europeans tend to be ignorant enough to stereotype people because of things they saw on the internet
As an European, all Americans terrify me at this point, but it's fascinating how each state manages to terrify me in a different way. It's like a haunted house.
guys pls its just bc utah is the homeland of mormons 😭
That is so valid I’m scared too even tho I’m American tbh
You are right to fear us.
We elected Trump twice.
You’re right
as a human....it's humans bud. everywhere
as an asian watching this i feel like i am learning abt some new species 😭
its literally the term ‘yt ppl shit’ 😭
@Claire-cc6xy it's really not. You've bred a subspecies in the US, don't generalize it to the rest of the world
TRULY!
@issecret1 i dont know any other group who does it, theres a reason poc say this term
@Claire-cc6xy what group? Did you see many Danish people doing this? Did you see... many English people doing this? Hungarian?
12:25 i feel like the mono outbreaks in this place are crazy
Yes actually 😭💔 every other week someone sick with it ☠️
I got mono is high-school while exclusively dating a Mormon boy. He never came down with symptoms. Mine relapsed 3 times in high school for four months at a time. I just recently had an actice Epstein-Barr virus flare up. It's so stupid to go around kissing a bunch of people you barely know. Mono is for life!
I am convinced that if I fed my German stomach a Utah soda, I would die immediately
I freaking live in America and I am 99.999% sure that if I drank even a small cup of those, my diabetes would morph into type 6 and I would almost immediately shit my pants.
Im in seattle where everything is weed and beer and the ring king would kill me.
@beelzeburrito and ppl wonder why the life expectancy is smaller there
There are certain things that Germany has/had that you get you slimed immediately .
My country also has strict laws about what and how much things can go on the food. I'm afraid I would have an explosive reaction 😂
i need someone to ban self tanners in Utah because what is that...
I honestly think self tanners shouldnt exist. People dont look very good, i might look like some worm thats lived in a cave their entire life but i dont look any better orange
DW they boutta ban themselves out of this planet by getting skin cancer before 30
Even if you do, there are still a lot of tanning beds in Utah. And if they want something safer they'll probably just make their own self tanner.
@sim4296 It's because of this whole stupid thing were they associate being tan with being healthy. Like: bish you're white, you don't tan you burn, now stop painting your skin orange.
They are still giving themselves skin cancer lol
i have lived in utah my whole life and since it began to gain popularity, it has genuinely been so eye opening to see that this is not normal and that no one else understands this.
Accurate!
19:07 do they not know they could just like… be sober and go to actual raves? Being sober and/or asex is 100% respected and supported by the rave community. 🤷♀️
Problem is because of the high Mormon population we just don't... Have raves-? there are pretty much only a handful of bars (which need a permit to sell alcohol) and I think we only have 2 stores in the state that actually sell alcohol (besides beer, you'll find beer at normal stores and gas stations and stuff)
Closest thing you get to raves here is church dances 😭✌️
They don’t agree with anyone doing drugs or drinking though. They wouldn’t go to a real rave because they don’t want to be somewhere that has actual drug use and intoxicated people. They look down on it. So they will have their own “raves” that coincides with their beliefs. They couldn’t care less if the rave community supports sobriety because the rave community also supports drugs/drinking. Also, they’re not staying sober for other people’s beliefs or opinions.
That would be too scary for them
2005 finally arrived to Utah
Utah never left 2005(I should know, I lived there in 2005), we're still waiting for them to get all the way to 2026.
@伏見猿比古-k8cthe shock they'll experience. Hold on to your butts and magic underwear 😂
If you’re talking about the JNCO jeans, those were popular when I was in high school in the late 90’s.
You’re way off on your generational trends. I live in Utah. jNCO jeans were popular in 2000. They went out of style and finally came back. Fashion is cyclical.
@Fetal_Factsbut jokes are still an unknown in Utah
the way i thought the utah dent was talking about the girls forehead in the thumbnail lmaooo
Me toooo 😭😭😭😂🤣
The gas station girls make me a bit concerned maybe I'm not good at judging ages but there is no way they are out of highschool etc. imagine going to your mum "yeah we're just gonna film some late night content at the local petrol station, no we dont need shoes"
The girls on til tok don’t have parents that care about them tbh
they probably just drove there after a football game
Mormons getting married at 18 and having 5 kids in 5 years is why I have no ability to judge age
3:09 at what point does a fake tan just become blackface? The girl on the left looks literally unbelievably dark.
I’m saying! as a black woman it’s wild to see
😭 she kinda looks like a uncanny creature in a Jordan Peele movie. Like she’s almost the same shade as me but looks like she took someone else’s skin
😭 she kinda looks like a uncanny creature in a Jordan Peele movie. Like she’s almost the same shade as me but looks like she took someone else’s skin
thats nopt blackface but its insane
Blackface is meant to mock black people, this isn't blackface
As a person who lives in Utah I refuse to be apart of this group of girls
The fashion is giving like y2k micro trend final boss lol
Yep. Fashion is cyclical.
The Justin Timberlake-Spike- peroxide-blonde trend coming back is so left field tho. lol
Only the Jenkos! Please don’t put that on me 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was in high school in the late 90’s, and people were wearing them then. It was probably more popular with the rave crowd back then.
As an elder millennial who has lived in Utah my entire life, it isn't that it's coming back so much as Utah is 20-40 years behind fashion. In the 90s I diy clothing like celebrities wore and I stood out so bad 😂😂😂
1:30 what on earth is that makeup look called, the Roasted Republican? Woof
THAT TAN. OMG. Why is she lowkey darker than me? And I’m the one that’s black- 3:08
If it makes you feel any better, it’s mostly just high school girls who do that here (in Utah).
This ! 😭
REAL like im mixed (blasian) and she’s like 20 shades darker than me and im not even that pale..
RIGHT, I WAS SHOOKETH. BUT NOT SURPRISED THAT IT WAS A TEENAGER
Insecurity, self-hatred, and racism
@伏見猿比古-k8cDon't be shy spill the tea.
@beesechurger9850 Probably not funny stuff overt racism (“white lives matter”, “protect your lineage”, etc) and malicious bigotry.
“Easy there white chocolate “ 😂😅
Soda Drunk is just a sugar high with a NASTY crash at the end. Repression is the fuel of resistance
They are all that friend when you where little who pretended to be drunk cause the smelled their parents beer.
except they aren't resisting
It's also funny to think that strict conservative youth found all those names and ways to bypass the rules and have fun in secret AND HERE COMES GENZ not only broadcasting it on their public accounts, tags and location fully exposing everything but also explaining in detail what everything means???? Like girl that is not what your grandmother worked so hard for
Oaks doesn’t know what tiktok is😂 the council will never see any of this stuff. It IS secret for them
@HarringtonsApocy if you think the mormon leadership freaks aren't closely monitoring how tight their grip is on their disgusting white supremacist community, you are more optimistic than i am
@HarringtonsApocyI mean the Mormon Church has been making a big push to partner with or promote male RUclipsrs higher into the church to reach The Youth
19:00 that rave was giving middle school dance vibes
The amount of second-hand embarrassment I'm feeling while watching this is making it hard to finish the video lol
My thoughts exactly
Can hardly imagine consent is of any concern in these situations
I can't help thinking the trend towards young marriage and parenthood is part of the issue. Also, being expected to have only one intimate relationship for your whole life.
I'm an exmormon and trust me, they won't.
@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 and choose that partner as a teenager. Insane.
I'm an adult living in Utah and never new this was even a thing. I'm so thankful i'm not ticktok....
I saw a video from a former mormon who used to live in utah who said part of the reason for the utah dent (specifically the bob version) has to do with the poor condition of their hair due the amount of dye/product that has been in their hair over the years.
Also, those fake tans don't look good and very much look like blackface.
are you talking about alyssa grenfell by chance?
@jordanne.anemoneyep!
@H.P.93i love her videos!
no way, she just sounds remorseful. like the way she grew up was the worst possible way. She needs to direct her angry energy towards real problems. Or real problematic people. But i’ve never heard of mormons as problematic people.
@eviankpop1872 Then you haven't done enough research
Missed opportunity to call it Utok
Does calling JNCO style jeans “convict jeans” feel like a dog whistle to anyone else?
the mcdonalds playplace rave is actually really funny as a concept
in my town we have something similar at a fast food place except its like death metal 🙂↕️
Caffeine is a drug and they found yet another socially acceptable way to abuse it.
And I thought "modest was hottest" but they expose more skin than the average non Mormon
It’s funny bc I know Mormons are against coffee bc of the caffeine but I think sodas with caffeine are…okay?
9:33 "Eberleigh and Aubreigh" LMAOOOOOOOOO
Girl- it took me FAR too long to realize that was a wig.
NGL, it looks pretty good on her
A FULL 10 MINUTES 😭
23:21 that guy realised in real time that there is no reason to not support gay marriage
But...when the state tells people something, then the people have a reaction...
Was that supposed to make me mad???
sorry but there is something called belief and religion too
@Z3R0thingzMaybe he's gay too?
I'm fully convinced Utah is just a social experiment
Everyone knows you shouldn't be showing off the dogs for free. Especially not late at night at a gas station.
That gas station was probably not in Salt Lake County, or if it was then definitely in the suburbs. They weren't in any danger.
@blurrypotato4573 wild mindset
HIIIII Utah born here and I can confirm that a ton of girls get tans and you can’t go ten feet without running into a soda bar
the song at 19:20 is called Drugs from Amsterdam, which honestly makes it funnier
Today was the first I’ve ever heard of a Utah dent and as soon as I heard it, I knew exactly what it was 😂😂😂
6:26 how did a pair of pants that was super popular for alt people in the 90s/2000s become a Utah thing? That’s crazy to me 😂
it's still an alt favorite, the internet trying to make a classic piece a microtrend is gonna be short lived
EBERLEIGH AND AUBREIGH HAHAHAHHAHAHA
“Whoa, easy there, white chocolate!” Ma’am I am DECEASED 😂
it’s not so bad when you’re somewhere like Salt Lake City, then your eyes, ears, and tastebuds get a break from bland blond monotony. as a Utah guy myself when I say I love Utah I mean all the parts WITHOUT people. the desert is incredible
So, are you saying Salt Lake City is more diverse or not? Sorry I'm just a bit confused by the context of your comment
@toothpaste.. Thank you for the reply - very enlightening!
Salt Lake is interesting, because it's where the exmos move. Basically the LGBTQ+ and Neurodivergent kids who question the church go to The University of Utah. The Normie Mormies generally go to BYU or Utah State, or UVU if they aren't smart enough to get into BYU (a lot of Mormons want to get in so BYU is the most competitive school in Utah to get into, even though UofU has better academics)
Salt Lake City is more diverse than the rest of the state but not diverse compared to other cities.
I lived there for four years and absolutely hated it
I’m from Utah and this scares me… I see this 24/7. I do not act like this at all.
The Utah dent looks like what happens to my hair after it's been in a ponytail for too long and got slightly damp
I think someone said that's more or less what it is ☠️
Skin cancer. So much skin cancer.
I think a lot of it is spray tans and fake tanning, not tanning beds, but I could be wrong. Cuz a lot of them look orange
@Nikita-m2that's a good point. Still think that being that white in such a sunny place should always mean bathing in sunblock lol I truly hope they do 😫
Yeah, I live here (ex mormon & queer) and can confirm the rates of skin cancer are wild & thru the roof
As a Utahn, these people are a vocal minority
6:50 this checks out, my friends and I were rocking Jncos in 1996 and Utah is about 30 years behind the rest of the country so that makes sense
Lmaooo
Same in California
Finally somebody else who knew about them pre-Y2K! The dudes that I knew that wore them back then pulled them off way better than these dweebs.
@kconway2263because we had wallets with massive chains hanging off of them and a pair of airwalks so you couldn’t see our little feet inside the pant legs lol
(As a part of this religion who wasn’t raised in Utah) if you’re trying to skirt around the law of chastity you’re missing the point of it.
My daughters name is Ellie ❤ Ellianna but call her Ellie
As someone who lives in Utah…….i can assure you i am NOT like this AT ALL.
God bless
A state run by a cult produces weird trends? Wild.
I'm sure their made up Sky Daddy will be like ...
YES, YOU GOT ME THERE.
SOAKING DEFINITELY DOESN'T COUNT, CONTINUE KIDS!
The way I learned what soaking is bc of a Dropout improv scene 💀 apparently there's another guy under the bed that shakes it from below
@pauwula Or the guy jumps on the bed. I hate that I know this
@pauwulawhat is soaking?
@BunnySpaceMachineGoogle mormon soaking
4:14 the hand placement 😭
Full on dramatic mom hand placement when they say “excuse me for caring”
Wdm ?
“My days” 😂
She's clutching her pearls
Notice that the one girl wearing shoes at the gas station is the one without the aggressive tan😂
@7:31 it's giving camp rock extra vibes
Fr. I thought damn they all look like they come straight out of Disney channel
that is spot on!
I'm from Chile and I thought that Utah was only for mormons (im not joking lmao)
Im from alaska (which is in the us) and im constantly surprised when there are nonmormons in utah
24:41 the feminist is the happiest 😂
At least he’s not a doormat like the rest.
See this is why repressing sexuality doesn’t work 😭😭😭 if you try to repress or condemn sexuality, people are gonna find a way around it, and it’s going to be weird
It’s not just sexuality, it’s everything.
Most thirsty guys wouldn't have even noticed they were at a gas station 😂
"I dont know what feminism is but also it's negative"
Lol my parents banning Pokemon when I was a kid
"Idk what it is, but the name translates to 'pocket demon' so you can't even look at it!"
Same energy as saying "I don't pay attention to politics" as they proceed to spew every conservative talking point
As a fellow south East Asian lemme tell you that living in Vietnam with my relatives and then having to come HERE OF ALL STATES in 3rd grade in the early 2000s to be with my parents was the worst thing to ever happen to me 💀💀💀
I KNOW they were calling you slurs and other derogatory shit over there. I hope you have escaped that hellhole.
oh nah 💀 my condolences
Utah is just now catching up to 2003. 😂
Meanwhile, soda is acidic (so bad for your teeth), as is the sugar or sugar substitutes used to sweeten it
@todoteatimeit’s fine in moderation! Drinking too much soda is obviously unhealthy
and drinking tea in moderation is not? makes no sense
As a European I feel I entered a different universe watching this.
you guys made the people who were starting to give this energy emigrate to america (the puritans) because they were, as was rightly observed, horrible, toxic, and not even fun. which has turned into WASP culture, which utah is, on whatever kind of crack makes one a pedophile. which i guess must be soda. which now that i've said it, tracks.
I’m chronically offline so I love finding videos like this and realizing.. omg THAT’S why all the people I’ve been seeing in public lately look like (insert viral trend I’ve just learned about). Also I’m from Indiana RIP
18:36 I’m not sure we were going that hard at my wedding and we were actual drunk 😂
The most concerning part of Dixie rock is the grown women who wanted to go there....
A lot of them have married young and are still very young, have become parents young. I think it's sad but also understandable.
I those women are probably like late teens or young 20s something. So didn't really seem that weird to me.
16:27 at least they arent hitting a family of 7 with a car
Aren't they? But sure everyone other kid who is allowed to drink alcohol is killing families weekly.
@esikazemesebrotato chip r u good?? It was a joke bud
@Thevoidwhowrites jokes are funny
i am so glad i’m not from the midwest or rural areas as a black person. my heart goes out to the people of color in the those states, cuz lord this is tew much
And I thought the South was bad.
@jasmine.foot7real shit
bro get me out of kansas 💔
@ikeupilledi’m coming bro!!!
Utah is way too close to Cali to be “midwest”
soda drunk was created for the same reason "under the influence" becomes an excuse for bad behavior. they justify bad behavior with alcohol and then utah inhabitants justify it with soda
As a Utah, putting that Maverick as the background was chef's kiss lmao
Ok, but in defense of the young lady who said she didn't consider herself a feminist because she didn't really know what it is: she's never been exposed to such ideas and quite likely has been fed anti-feminist sentiments her entire life. It's not her fault...it's her environment. Hopefully college will offer her a wider worldview.
Not at that one lol. She “speaks sweet” too. She’s fully integrated.
No cause if you're grown enough to be in college u should know what feminism is. No excuse 😂
As someone from New Orleans I think we need to send some adults to Utah which seems to be entirely populated by middle schoolers.
that's straight up what following a hyper-religious upbringing does, keeps you mentally in the seventh grade
Pretty sure Utah is the #1 plastic surgery state, so instead of aging they get botox :P
Oh there’s adults too, they just act like middle schoolers
I grew up in the South. I thought it was the worst place to be geographically. I will take the sticks and old timey racists before I succumb to whatever Utah is. 😭
@jasmine.foot7 Im not sure if you're calling Utah the worst geographic place, however Utah is actually one of the most unique land formations state. Living near Utah lake the only natural disaster that we can have is Earthquakes. Any other one is simply impossible with Utah's mountains.
A- theyre all in a cult
B- lack of oxygen due to elevation.
Just a theory.
Utah was built in the Uncanny ]Valley.
This should be the top comment 😅
