I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. When you said Eurovision I thought ’really?’ I’m interested in hearing more of them now as his voice was great and the mix in styles was very interesting
@oojagapivy oh, I get it. Media outlets always tend to lead their Eurovision coverage with either the bonkers/quirky entries or the very safe mainstream pop songs because that's what turns the most heads. So the general perception is that it's full of bizarre cultural curiosities and overwrought power ballads. But there has always been no shortage of really talented artists from all kinds of different genres through the years. When Australia was announced as being part of Eurovision some 8 years ago, Voyager's fans immediately started the "we know the perfect band for this!" hype. Took a bit longer than anticipated, but they got there. 😁
@oojagapivy if I may, I suggest checking out 2014's 'V' album as a starting point. If you want to see how the djenty prog/80s synthpop fusion grows from there, go forward. If you wanna hear more power/prog type stuff, go backward from there. 😀
Don't know if it is because I am listening to a lot of Fear Factory lately, but I got some huge vibes from the chuggy guitar section and some of the flair on the vocals that reminded me of Burton. Great song though
Not only in Eurovision but finished 9th and won their semi-final. They smashed it. Definitely check out Colours in the Sun and Ghost Mile albums along with the newbie Fearless in Love
Was surprised that you guys never reacted to their Prince Of Fire MV when it dropped right in the middle of their Eurovision promotions. Especially for a couple of Australian metalheads, it's kinda shocking that their last few albums seem to have slipped past you unnoticed. Criminal. As for what they sound like, they've changed a lot over the past 20 years - what started out as a proggy power metal band has changed and evolved into this incredibly well balanced djenty prog/80s synthpop hybrid, combining the best of both worlds in a way that makes you wonder why no one else has really actively tried it before. Would recommend starting with 2014's "V" as that was the major turning point in their sound... and either go back or forward from there depending on which style you want to check more of.
That depends. Think of a spectrum between a more traditional power/prog band and a djenty prog/80s synthpop band... whereabouts on that spectrum would you be interested in landing?
As a western Australian, this song is the best collab of the year tbh
hell yeah, love Voyager! would definitely recommend checking out some of their other songs. "Colours", and "Submarine" are two of my faves!

well let that be a lesson about pre-judging.
@@KyleS3m3noff definitely. I guess all my eurovision knowledge pre-now (very limited) has clouded my image of it.

@@KyleS3m3noff That's it exactly. Also, as an Aussie band, this Aussie wants more 👍

Runaway is a perfect song. Those don't come along often.

I know it's a song that's been out for a little now. But why does nobody really talk about Zillion - War Inside me?
A bit weird that. I liked all the individual parts, but not sure it all mixed together particularly well. Would definitely listen to more though
