    The policy is not candle for candle. If you have your receipt you can do an even exchange. If not there is a 14 day limit to do an even exchange. You bought that candle a while ago, therefore you can only get back the selling price the day you try to return it. Do not argue with the employee, when you do not work there and have no clue what our policies are. Why would we give you a candle that costs $22.50 in exchange for your $1.95 candle. We lose money that way. Next time don't wait 2 years to return your candle.

    There is a time limit on the candle-for-candle Policy. You need to have receipt at the time of exchange or you can get your money back for what it rings up as. This is so your not returning a $5 candle that was on sale two years ago for a full price $22.50 candle.

    B&BW's in-store customer service is SO hit or miss! I had one store do the same exact thing & give me attitude telling me that I had to pay an extra $10 if I wanted to exchange. And of course, the manager then came out trying to back up the SA. It's like no, learn your freakin' policy. I stood my ground & eventually got the even exchange. On the other hand, I've had other stores do it with no problem. It's like we're die-hard fans who pour 1000s of dollars into B&BW, just honor the damn policy!

    I really understand what you are saying and I agree that customer service seems to be lacking everywhere. I do not work for BBW but I am a customer of theirs and am familiar with the return policy. As I understand it and as its written on the receipt and website, they will exchange the candle for another candle with a receipt as long as it is within the refund policy's time limit. Without a receipt, they cannot prove if your item is in the refund policy's time limit, so they will only give you the amount that the candle is currently selling for, in store credit or exchange only. Like I said, I understand you completely, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in so maybe you would know for next time.

    • @JuneauCorday21
      @JuneauCorday21 9 лет назад +4

      I do work for BBW and the policy is what Angela said. Item for Item. Without the receipt it rang up for $1.95, and they should have overrided the new candle down to $1.95. Boom! even exchange. The only way she would have to pay the difference is if she wanted to get something that wasn't a candle. If she wanted to return it, she'd have gotten $1.95 in store credit. The company won't let us override the item being returned, but we can override the item they want to even exchange it for.

    • @JuneauCorday21
      @JuneauCorday21 9 лет назад

      Oh! and there is no time limit on the return/exchange policy. You should see the stuff from the 90s that people return/exchange, and we MUST do it. Receipts are not necessary unless you want your money back. Receipt = money back or even exchange. No Receipt = store credit for lowest selling price or even exchange.

    I had this happen to me in a store in florida. the lady got super snippy with me and like took it personally that I wanted to exchange a candle that wasnt burning properly. she was like "alriiight....I guess I can do it this time" and then talked to me like I was a 5 yr old the rest of the transaction.

  • @MDhanraj

    My question to you, if you were dissatisfied with Malibu Smash then why did you just return 2? Why not all? One would think you were just trying to get rid of some because you had too much.

  • @kellymcmahon7820
    @kellymcmahon7820 8 лет назад +19

    Two things: 1. You need to trim the wicks when you burn a candle to PREVENT the wicks from blowing out. And 2. Where the heck did you shop when you were younger? No store I have been in as an adult or child has had people offer to be personal shoppers; mainly because most stores are staffed so that the departments can get clean and be ready for people. Customer service is not bending to the whim of a spoiled child in a grown person's body.

  • @savannahlauren2

    I am an ex employee. The actual policy is a 100% return guarantee. It states this on the receipt and buy the registers. This means that you can exchange ANY item no matter how old (granted if its something they no longer sell you will not get full price) So if you take in an 11 dollar candle to exchange you can exchange it for ANYTHING in the store the adds up to 11+, You can return it with or without a receipt. If without the you get store credit, if with you get your money back in the same way you paid (cash or card)
    They should have just even exchanged your candle without making it seem like a big favor.

    • @oliverwebb762
      @oliverwebb762 5 лет назад

      The way you explained this means that she would have in fact only gotten the $1.95 in store credit or merchandise back since that is what her candle is worth now. That is the 100% guarantee since it rings up for that price and she no longer has a receipt. That is how most businesses work that have return policies like this work actually, if you can't prove how much it was when you bought it, it's whatever price it is now. They did exactly what they were supposed to because it was a used candle likely several years old on clearance.

  • @BeautyandtheBlogify
    @BeautyandtheBlogify 11 лет назад +1

    The policy is the same. I work at B&BW and all we have to do is price overuse the new candle to the 1.95 an its an even trade.

    I've had a similar experience recently. It's odd that they have that exchange with the candles. I planned to return 2 candles and I called customer service and they told me and my bf that we can just take them back for a refund. So I don't know what's up with the policy. I ended up keeping them though lol

    I used to work for them and they could've definitely done a price override and made it an even exchange! That's just bad management! They probably didn't want to lose sales, and what they don't realize is that keeping the customer happy is what gets you sales. Also, without a receipt, they can look it up on your card, so that's no excuse

  • @JynxesVacarum

    I worked in a retail store and really there is no support. If I would return items per policy and it was out dated or wrong the Managers would not tell you it is wrong they just throw you under a bus no second chances you go on final warning. I also always got in trouble for helping guests shop. Rule is tell them where it is and leave or show them then leave. I used to help this older gal shop and find her items since the store always moved them around. Hell once I got her cart together for her on MY BRAKE and got in trouble for it while I was on brake because that is not what they pay us for. They pay us to cash out people and stock shelves.
    Fix store managers and you get good service again, sadly the managers are always the ones that have lasted forever there with a hate for everyone and thinking everyone steals.

    You are SO right-- this happens all the time. I once wanted to exchange a 2010 tunneling Pumpkin Patch for a 2011 Pumpkin Patch, and they wanted to give me 97 cents instead! First of all, NO. Second of all, I would love for them to tell me when the hell they sell these candles for 97cents or even $1.95. We're lucky for a few scents to go down to $5 at SAS, so they're dreaming when they claim 97 cents!...

    OH MY GOD! I just went through this in my BBW a few days ago! I just wanted to exchange one single damn candle for another and she told me I could only get a $10 credit. So I emailed customer service with a mini-rant. They didn't tell me that they changed their policy all they did was offer me a $25 gift card. Grateful for the card but I wish they would answer my question.

    Ah the dreaded white wick tip of S&C candles, I know that crap all too well & is one of the many reasons why I stopped buying/supporting bbw. I've gone to 2 different bbw & in each store all the SA are snotty & just can't be bothered with. Atleast with yc the stores I go to everyone is friendly & helpful. I've gotten crap for returning things WITH a receipt within the 1 week period of purchase. I loath bbw, their "policy" and their untrained employees. Do what I did don't buy anymore bbw candles

    Cut the B&BW cord people. I did it this weekend after a bad experience in one of their stores while on an out of state road trip. Never will I buy from them ever again. All I wanted them to do was honor one of two current promos I received via email and was told there was no such promo. I get back to my hotel room and check my email and I had received a 2nd email advertising the same two promos. I contacted customer service and they did not do anything about it. My husband loves using their scentportables in our vehicles, but he is going to have to start using something else because it will be a cold day in hell before I buy from them again.

    • @JuneauCorday21
      @JuneauCorday21 9 лет назад

      Did you have the email with you? BBW does a lot of test promos, unfortunately they don't let stores know if they are not participating in a promo that the rest of the company is doing. That out of state store was most likely a test. In my store when that happens, we always honor it. Which is what they should have done. But it always helps if you have the email with you or call ahead. There have been plenty of times a customer has come in asking about a promo and I had no idea what they were talking about, but they show me the email and I happily honor whatever it is. The company can be terrible about communicating with the stores sometimes. And even worse, the email probably had some tiny little disclaimer hidden saying "select stores" which is why they did not do anything for you when you called CS

    • @midwestlittlesugar
      @midwestlittlesugar 9 лет назад

      It was no test promo. It was a nationwide promo. 4 weeks later I finally received an apologetic email from a rep promising to send me a $25 dollar gift card to make amends. Well, it's mid October and I have never received it. Not that I would have used it anyone. I would have given it away to someone. It just confirmed and cemented my negative feelings about B&BW.

    • @JuneauCorday21
      @JuneauCorday21 9 лет назад

      midwestlittlesugar
      Yeah, I know it was a nationwide promo, that's why an email went out. I meant that store wasn't participating as a test, and they didn't know it. I am sorry about how the situation was handled though. That is completely unacceptable.

    • @midwestlittlesugar
      @midwestlittlesugar 8 лет назад

      Still nothing and it's been over a year. I haven't set foot in one of their stores or ordered online from them since. They showed to me how little they care about and lie to their customers. There are other stores willing to take my money and help me out with any problems I might have shopping with them.

  • @volcrazy89
    @volcrazy89 11 лет назад +1

    Can't stand dealing w/ B&BW. I refuse to shop in the store, and right now I have a misbehaving Watermelon Lemonade that isn't burning correctly and the wicks are literally BREAKING APART in the wax and I'm doing everything in my power to stick it out and not return it so I don't have to deal with rude B&BW employees. If it were Yankee I wouldn't think twice as Yankee's CS is light years ahead of B&BW.

  • @RaleighBecketGipsyPilot
    @RaleighBecketGipsyPilot 11 лет назад +2

    They always ask for ID when you do an exchange with them. Someone once told me it's to keep track of how much you return in a year. I think the limit is $300 in a year or something.

    I work for a Bath and Body in Canada and we don't do the straight exchanges, If you don't have your receipt you get it for the lowest price and you can put it towards a new item.If you have a receipt then you can do a straight exchange. It says the policy right on the cash's....not sure why they're telling you that you are able to do it lol

  • @TouchTheFireTwice
    @TouchTheFireTwice 11 лет назад +1

    Also, good luck trying to do an even exchange if there has been a recent sale! I once bought a few candles at full price and decided to exchange them (without a receipt). When I went in, they were (again) full price...but the rep said to me, "Well if you don't have a receipt I can only credit you $10 because we just had a 2 for $20 sale." I said, "Well I bought these before the sale, and now the sale is over, and I just want to do an even exchange. I'm just asking for the 'current selling price'

    Ive learned it depends on the employee you get. Everyone at my location seems to always be on a different page. Some of the ladies at my store insist on seeing a receipt or for my i.d to track me, other ones do the exchange no problem and do something on the computer on their end like overriding something like you said , and others will just swap and do zero work at all in the system. I never know if im going to be berated for having to exchange so much when the candle doesnt work properly, so I always call

  • @stephanieperez5845
    @stephanieperez5845 8 лет назад +6

    It has changed, always review your receipts anywhere you shop, because the current terms of purchase are always (most often) printed there to communicate the policy. The current policy is no matter what without your receipt you will get the current value of that item. Often times equal for equal current theme candles can be exchanged. As for the customer service issue, it's the associates job to see that they've got you assisted (help with product recommendation, demo, coupons etc) but as for a personal slave to follow you around while you decide on everything it's impossible and unfair to the other customers. The associate did their job by informing you in change of policy and unfortunately that isn't solely up to that associate but the corporation. Their job is Only to enforce it. It may seem unfair, but it is what it is and you've got to come to accept that if you want to continue shopping anywhere, you must abide by the rules. If you disagree with them you can call customer service but realize that there's nothing personal about it.

    This is what the problem is not just with Bath and Body works but with places such as MAC and Sephora: The ppl who work in these stores either Do not know or do not agree with their store's policy so they refuse to enforce it- that is why these type of ppl should not be working there. Just like when in MAC they get upset when ppl do a back to MAC or Sephora employees get angry that ppl are returning things as per Sephora policy. I have noticed lots of stores hire "managers" who have no clue about stores policies or worse b/c they disagree with them they do not want to enforce them.

    The return policy is on the receipt, and no one shopping anywhere should always be aware of current return and Exchange policies. Most current theme candles can be exchanged for another one by bbws current policy. If not you have to pay the difference or accept store credit for their current value of their products. 100% satisfaction guarantee is the goal, and if it means retaining your customer you do at your discretion price adjust items but that is not the policy. As per your rant about personal shoppers, most all associates there are more than happy to show you products, provide product info and demo product but no one should be your personal slave as you shop, it's a customer service associates job to make sure you get what you need and leave happy but at the same time we're all adults and human to boot. I would consider thinking if you continue to want to have a pleasant shopping experience anywhere dealing in the public. Your standards are a little too much

    OMG I had the same issues in my stores! I got so tired of it that I actually emailed corporate and explained what happened and ask to MAKE sure this WAS the policy and then I would have a reply in writing. They did email me back apologizing and said you can exchange ANY candle for ANY candle even with new packaging at NO EXTRA COST. So I printed the email and now I take the emails with me when I go to exchange. I know that if you complain to corporate about a particular store they WILL discuss with them and take that any way you want. LOL But you should try and bring your email in the store, and no it shouldnt have to come to that but hey you get some nasty employees, like they are losing money? Thats why I have been in love with and buying BBW candles for so many years is because they do back their products or at least they are supposed to.
