Why do White Christians Vote Republican, and Black Christians Vote Democrat?

  • An overwhelming majority of WHITE Christians vote Republican. And an overwhelming majority of BLACK Christians vote Democrat. Why is that? Don't they read the same Bible and pray to the same God? Which group doesn't know they're voting for the wrong party?? Phil Vischer takes us on a fast-paced trip through history to figure out why different American Christians read the same Bible, pray to the same God, and vote very, very differently.

That would be the Republican Party who do not support abortion or gay marriage which by the way is a sin against God. If you vote for a democrat who believes in murder of innocent babies in the womb and promoting gay marriage(read Romans 1 ) then you are not a Christian. A Christian doesn’t vote for things that God hates.

@@ceciliaramos2280 Clearly you want a theocracy then since your only argument that abortion is wrong is if a fetus has a soul. Souls are a purely theistic or at least deistic idea so not based in scientific reason. Separation between church and state is the only viable option for stopping tyrannical structures from growing. I think you should look into the history of when Christians controlled governments in the Middle Ages and what was done it is pretty horrifying.

@@swellson8133 I agree. If one thinks hard enough about it, freedom of religion cannot exist without separation of church and state. In a theocracy, there would only be one free religion left. Even if that would be Christianity, what flavor of Christianity would that be? Groups like the puritan pilgrims and the quakers wanted to find life away from the Church of England. Side note is that if there would be a "Christian" theocracy tomorrow, it would unfortunately likely be on the false doctrine of the prosperity gospel since that seems like the group that has the most political power right now.

If you see a hawk getting drown by a duck for trying to eat the ducks child do you help the hawk? Is it law of the jungle and just watch? Could you stay just to watch?] That's how I see what religion provides a conscious mind even if some of these religions are bias/tainted/amended/blemished it makes you seek knowledge and have a opinion. There’s no conservative takedown of liberalism and black people. They like to say that black people are ‘enslaved’ on a ‘Democrat plantation’ but they’ve never given a single good reason why a person with black skin should vote for them. It’s a free market for all, they’re free to fight for black votes just as democrats are. Yet they never try, but they will complain till kingdom come about black people not voting for them.
All they’d really have to do is acknowledge systemic racism and take steps to combat it. But we all know that doing so would mean that they’d instantaneously lose a sizeable percentage of their voters.
My advice to conservatives; stop whining about black Americans not voting for when the foundation of your platform is inherently anti-black.

      @kimberlycronen3998 3 года назад +13

@Matt Vanderford I’m not saying individual sin isn’t biblical - it most definitely is. No question.
I’m saying that the idea that it’s appropriate for a society to lament and repent together for the sinful things done within that cultural framework is also biblical - yet not emphasized within the White US American church. You hear a lot of, “Well my family and I never did that.” Maybe not, but if you call yourself an American then you have to accept the good and the bad. I take pride in the good that “we” have done as a nation. That’s part of what it means to have membership in a group. But group membership also means I am there for the ugly things, too. I accept that “we” have sinned, must lament the evil done, repent, and try to make it right. The systemic sins are glossed over in the White American church, and that is what’s culturally unique.

    • @kimberlycronen3998
      @kimberlycronen3998 3 года назад +6

@Matt Vanderford - Hm. Well I agree that revival and restitution for national wrongs should go hand-in-hand, but I’ve personally never been to a revival where we’ve call for a national effort to right the wrongs committed by our country. Personal sin requires a change of heart and the work of the Holy Spirit in an individual’s life. Holy people can still exist in sinful systems, though, and even benefit from them. Systemic problems call for policy changes, not just renewal of the heart. We live in a country that we govern - that’s a blessing and a huge responsibility. We are not just subject to the whims of a monarch. We can change laws and systems that are unjust or cause injustice. If we know the good we ought to do and don’t try to make it happen, that’s sin. Over the past six months, White congregations have been more vocal about social and racial injustice, but whether we will make a meaningful difference in our country in the name of Jesus on this front remains to be seen.

WOW, thank you so much for this. I've had many conversations and debates with conservative Christians about the 2 political parties and how they swapped sides. Of course, the Conservatives do not want to hear that kind of talk. They want to maintain the idea that "they", as Conservatives, ended slavery, while also holding onto the values they love about Conservatism which denies blacks freedom of choice in voting, where to live, where to go to school, and why the justice system should focus on blacks more. I will be saving this and sharing.
One thing you did not mention, that I believe is important, is the fact that not only did blacks not choose to join the Democratic party, they were actually banned from the party until the mid 1920s.

They used some passages in the Bible to justify slavery and pretended a lot. They also passed laws that didn't charge killers of black slaves with murder if the slave died under the whip in a disciplinary action. Ming China was more progressive (killing a slave was murder). The South had no public education. Even in 1950s South Carolina until the Johnson era civil rights acts, women and blacks could not serve on juries.

Why I picked you? I don't know. I was looking for some answers and comments on a video about what is eternal life. I am very upset and feeling confused and looking for some answers from the bible and especially from Christians. My cousin has excepted Christ into his life and so have I. I am a Democrat and he is a Republican. He has no empathy for black people as a whole growing up in Detroit. He has no problem with hating or should I say feeling repugnant of all Democrats also! We have both excepted Christ into our lives. Okay, now trying to understand the hate that so many republicans have for people from different parties because it stuns me. I pray for this world, my friends, family, this country, those that are suffering around the world, and I am at an impasse as he is not. Are Christians supposed to hate? If eternal life and Salvation are not the same things, could someone explain 1st John 3:15? 1st John 3:15 says if you hate you are a murderer and shall not have eternal life, so do you still have salvation? Didn't Christ want us to have a love for those who were suffering? What about injustice, poverty, the broken-hearted? Yes, everything is in God's hands and I should not be afraid or have fear in my heart for the Lord has his plan in the second coming and it may soon come and solve all this. (Nothing to concern yourself with). I do not believe the Lord wants me to sit back and not try to keep this Democracy intact. Is it only the rich Christians that have all this corruption in this leader that they feel is so strong about, are they right? Or is it really about money and power? Truth and hypocrisy in the same breath? What on earth is going on? I am looking for other views on this. We are at a very critical place and I worry for the souls of this planet and his frankly. Actually, I fear that the real truth not being understood by white Christians and that they have labeled things in their minds and so, therefore, have no need to evaluate it further. I have found Republicans to be much more accepting of people with differing views and perspectives. It is not "rich Christians" that are corrupt, but rather people who pretend to be Christian, but support policies and politicians who are corrupt and their actions negatively affect hard working Americans. When you consider who the CEO's of large corporations support, who big tech supports and who the Wall Street bankers support, it becomes obvious that the Democrat party is the party of the rich, the elitist and not the party of hard working Americans. In fact, biden chose prominent people from large corporations, big tech and Wall Street banks to be in key positions in his administrations. They most surely will not have the best interest of hard working Americans, including black Americans, in mind when they impose more restrictions on American society. The first has always led to division and suspicion. The second leads to a life of humility, service, love, hope, and yes sometimes hardship. And it's easy to confuse the two.

It's not really about black vs white.
The real colors it is about is blue and red.
Blue is for Democrats and Red is for Republicans. The blue
democrats are always being prevented from helping people.
There is a reason the parties chose these colors to represent them.
Blue angels vs Red devils. During the civil war the Blue coats won.
Through-out history and in all cultures blue is for God and the good,
while the color red is used to represent the Devil and everything evil.
Red is for hate and for war - Redrum is murder spelled backwards.
Blue is for the truth, splendor and beauty. Blue States are better for
communal life. Red States are hell holes of suppression and racism.
Blue is for deeper thought and peace. Red is for rage and rebellion.
the blue democrat party is "for" everything - and is positive - while
the red republican party is only against everything - and is negative.
The red party is full of hate and racism and lies. The true blue party
is smeared by them as liars and satan whorshipers. But that's what
their all about - they are a corrupt party. They lie when the speak.
Obama was 99% correct when he said you could keep your doctor.
But they say he was a liar because there was a 1% discrepancy. But
when they are 1% correct about anything - they say they told the truth.
In the Revolutionary war we wore Blue coats & we killed the Red coats.
Jesus was a Democrat Rabbi and they wore blue. He was for the poor.
The Romans wore red and built the colliseum from the spoils of their
sacking the temple in Jeruslem. There - they expressed their hate for
many years to come - killing the christians in their blood red games.
Hobby Lobby are evil schills for the right winger's hate and lies.
Blue is the color of God and his moral law Luke 9:35; Rom. 1:4.

Until the country reconciles and seeks to repair past AND CURRENT attitudes about systemic racism and equality (economically and otherwise) we are doomed to repeat it over and over and get progressively worse uprisings each time. I attended a purposefully racially-integrated church for twenty years. They were a non-denominational, charismatic-leaning congregation; the pastor and his family were multiracial (black and Asian), but they were about as conservative as they come. The racial makeup of the congregation closely mirrored the percentage of blacks and whites living in the community (i.e., it wasn't half-and-half; but neither is the general population).
But unfortunately they sent their daughters off to one of those progressive CINO colleges (Meredith); and that, I think is where things started to go wrong. :\

nothing wrong with two party system, the problem is the inability to compromise. Governance should be all about compromise, because as you say, somewhere in the middle is where everyone sits. And, btw, its time to separate "what God says" from your voting. You (nobody) have no idea what God actually says, so I don't want your religion anywhere near the policies I have to live with. I have to pray that God leads and guides me in every election, always remembering my faith is more important than my race. Sometimes, I don’t think our Caucasian brothers and sisters understand how difficult it is to vote Republican when you are African American. It really is a trust issue. We want so badly to trust Republicans but history constantly screams “Don’t do it. They will betray you or worse. They will kill you and your children.” Personally, God has led me to vote Republican in this year’s election. I pray that God will touch the hearts of all our brothers and sisters in Christ who do not share our same experiences and history. I pray they will have compassion, be honest and unbiased, remembering that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female. I also pray my fellow African American brothers and sisters will forgive and true racial reconciliation and healing will take place within the body of Christ in The United States. We (Christians) are all one in Christ.

    • @lg9388
      @lg9388 3 года назад +1

Yes, most of the racism today exists in the Democrat party. Take a look at their policies, laws and the effects they've had on black people. Remember the "war on poverty"? It decimated the black family because it punished black families if the father lived in the house with the family, by decreasing or eliminating government support, such as welfare or subsidized housing. This Democrat policy encouraged black couples to not get married, which led to a rising rate of children born out of wedlock. By destroying the black families, Democrat politicians proved that they didn't really care about the black community, but because the black families became more dependent on government for survival, it guaranteed that black people would vote for Democrat politicians. It was a way for Democrats to keep blacks on their government "plantation."

@@lg9388 The Public Religion Research Institute is out with its 11th edition of the American Values Survey, a multi-faceted polling survey of more than 2,500 Americans that provides an invaluable source of data on Americans’ views on everything from race to immigration to election preferences. The findings on matters of race are especially striking.
Given two statements - “I would prefer the U.S. to be made up of people from all over the world,” and “I would prefer the U.S. to be a nation primarily made up of people from western European heritage” - a plurality (48 percent) choose the former over the latter (10 percent). However, only 25 percent of Republicans agree with the former, and fewer than half of Whites do. PRRI reports: “Less than one in five Americans (18%) agree that the idea of America where most people are not white bothers them, while 81% disagree. . . [but] Republicans (27% agree, 71% disagree) are somewhat more likely to agree than independents (16% agree, 83% disagree) and Democrats (13% agree, 86% disagree).” Republicans are also much less likely to strongly disagree that a majority-nonwhite America bothers them, with 35 percent reporting that they do strongly disagree, compared with 52 percent of independents and 66 percent of Democrats.
On the topic of responding to Black Lives Matter protests, President Trump received rotten marks, with only 35 percent approving and 64 percent disapproving of his performance. As for the issue of racial injustice, a majority of Americans (56 to 43 percent) think police killings of Black people are part of a pattern, not isolated incidents. But Republicans and Fox News watchers think differently: “Around eight in ten Republicans (79%), compared to 40% independents and 17% of Democrats, believe that killings of African Americans by police are isolated incidents. . . . Republicans who trust Fox News most for television news (90%) are even more likely than Republicans as a whole to say that these are isolated incidents.”
The refusal to acknowledge racism is now as much a defining feature of Republican identity as is being pro-life or anti-government. In defending the status quo, Republicans seek to fortify a system that treats Blacks far worse than Whites.
PRRI also conducted a clever test to see whether the race of protesters matters to various groups of Americans:
Americans are more likely to agree (61%) than disagree (37%) with the statement “When Americans speak up and protest unfair treatment by the government, it always makes our country better.” However, Americans are less likely to agree (52%) and more likely to disagree (47%) with the statement “When Black Americans speak up and protest unfair treatment by the government, it always makes our country better.”
Republicans are 25 percentage points more likely to agree that protests make the country better when the statement does not mention Black Americans (49%) than they are when the protesters are specified as Black Americans (24%). Among Republicans who most trust Fox News, this effect grows to 37 percentage points: 47% favor the statement without Black Americans, compared to only 10% who favor the statement when the protesters are identified as Black Americans.
Republicans may not want to acknowledge the implicitly racist views in their party, but the refusal to recognize that Black protesters are trying to make our country better; the aversion to diversity; the failure to acknowledge racial injustice; and the overwhelming conviction that the Confederate flag (85 percent) and monuments to Confederate soldiers (90 percent) are symbols of “Southern pride” (not racism in recognition that the Civil War was fought to preserve slavery) are frightening indications that racism persists within the GOP - no doubt inflamed by a racist president. The siege mentality expressed by many in the MAGA crowd and the violent groups Trump refuses to directly denounce stem from a sense they are “losing” power and control in American society. That in turn spurs ever more desperate attempts (voter suppression, child separation) to maintain Whites’ dominant position in U.S. society.
Robert P. Jones, the chief executive of PRRI, tells me, “Overall, the survey confirms that denying the existence of systemic racism - both perceptions of continued discrimination today and the effect of past discrimination on the present - has become part of the identity of both Republicans in the political arena and white evangelical Protestants in the religious landscape.”

In the same way black Christians get deceived by their pastors because they don't read the scriptures and don't test the spirits. Their pastors teach them to vote democrat and that Donald Trump is evil - I'm not kidding, I heard it on the radio, some black pastor was preaching it - but they fail to teach them that the way of the Democrat party is the exact opposite of the bible. Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian were the 4 horsemen of the apocolypse.
Flavious Vespasian is - was and forever will be the most important person that has ever lived.
He killed off the warrior Guals of France and Spain. He then did the same to the messianic Jews. He started antisemitism to keep the Jews down. He took their holy objects like the menorah. And he became Ceasar and built the Coliseum. Where - for many years they killed Christians in games. He adopted the last Messianic Jew and gave him his name - Flavious Josephus. And Josephus was Rome's personal scribe - they wrote the new bible and rewrote history. He invented Christianity to divide the rebel Jews with hate. He had it written to promote His/Vespasian's perspective. They retroactivated the new testament so the bible character Jesus's prophecies would come true. It is his Roman spin/propagana. After the Jews detroyed Rome he came back with a vengence destroying Jerusalem and their temples. He then proclaimed himself Jesus the Christ. It' a Greek term for The Savior Messiah. Flavious Vespasian was a mule breeder. Mules are the offspring of a male donkey ( jackass) and a female horse. Vespasian/Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem in Matthew tells how he sent two of his disciples to a village to get a donkey with a colt beside it.
He told them to bring the donkey and the colt to him so he can ride the donkey on his way into Jerusalem. This is a sneeky way of saying for the messianic Jews that Jesus was Vespasian.
