Thank you for commenting! If you'd like to see the rest of our collection, here's my playlist about them: ruclips.net/p/PLEnCVl0LWmYfasxI2p2mcDF0YauzDkwYY I'm sorry about the commercials. RUclips changed its policy and now posts them on all videos where I want the or not. I don't, but have no choice.
What a gem of a find while I was sewing this afternoon! I stumbled across your video's and was so intrigued that I had to leave what I was sewing to watch more! What a beautiful collection and such dedication to detail when bringing these machines back to their former glory so that people like myself can know how they worked originally. Fantastic camera work and narration too. I learned to sew on an old singer treadle sewing machine that my Dad used to patch his bib and brace overalls on (he was a stone mason and often they got ripped). He also sewed leather on it as he had several classic motorbikes which he restored and made new seats for. Thank you so much for the knowledge that you share it is much appreciated. I now have to find the time to watch more as I have repaired a few old finds too but none as perfect as yours, I think I have about 17 at the moment (to be honest I haven't counted!) I now have to find the time to watch more of your video's.... :)
Thank you such a great comment! I'm happy to read you enjoyed my little corner off cyberspace. But I should warn you, collecting antique sewing machines can become addictive. How bad can it get? We've given away our dining room furniture to turn the dining room into a mini-museum for our best machines, taken off the doors to a hall linen closet and filled it with shelves for another display, have machines in the living room, the entry hall and they've taken over the man-cave I made in the garage for our grandsons. (Sewing machines in a man-cave?! Yup, that's how much they've taken over the house. 🙂) My current project is putting gold filigree and Victorian roses on a Singer Featherweight. Since you have 17 machines and a RUclips channel, have you ever thought of posting videos of your machines? The antique and vintage sewing machine community is always hungry for new videos of machines. I know I'd enjoy seeing your collection. Thanks again for writing!
Thank you! And thanks for the great comment! If you'd like to browse through all my antique sewing machine videos, you can do so by visiting the playlist for them at: ruclips.net/p/PLEnCVl0LWmYfasxI2p2mcDF0YauzDkwYY My current project is an 1895 Bremer & Bruckmann Colibri sewing machine, which I hope will be done and a video about it posted sometime next week.
I have a sewing machine similar to the one you are showing I will email your site for some help as I am looking for a shuttle case as the one that I have is broken.
Hi, Jeanette! Thank you for commenting! Several machines were on the video. Which was the one like yours? The Jones at the very beginning? How is your shuttle broken? Replacement shuttles for specific machines are hard to find because each manufacturer designed their own. Substitutions don't work in most cases. Making things worse, shuttles sold on-line are seldom identified properly, making it a gamble as to whether one that's purchased is going to work. Ebay, Pinterest, Etsy and etc., sometimes offer shuttles. Another source, which I've never used but seems to carry many shuttles is: facebook.com/people/Jacks-Needles-Shuttles-Bobbins/100057582904729/?sk=photos If you can describe what's wrong with your shuttle, I may be able to help. Since you have a RUclips channel, a simple way is to make a short video showing your shuttle and upload it. Most smart phones already have the software to automatically upload phone videos directly into RUclips. Good luck and please let me know how things are progressing.
I found an Amazon ad for a universal bullet shuttle and ordered one. I't supposed to arrive tomorrow. It looks like it may work in. our Jones. If it does, I'll let you know. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/HEEPDD-Multifunctional-Shuttle-Treadle-Machines/dp/B07Y23VM35/ref=sr_1_10?crid=24DE7TMGAKYLK&keywords=universal+bullet+shuttle+sewing+machine&qid=1678043800&sprefix=universal+bullet+shuttle+sewing+machine%2Caps%2C149&sr=8-10
I got the universal shuttle and am sorry to report that while it has the correct general dimensions, its curvature doesn't match the Jones' enough to work.
What an incredible, well made and informative video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of these beloved treasures ❤

I also named my vibrating shuttle Hilda! The name just seemed right.
That's a one-in-a-million coincidence!
