Hey Brad. This arrangement was made by Loren Allred as Brett stated in another comment. If you go through your reaction videos, you’ll you see that you did a reaction to that performance by Loren 4 months ago when she was on AGT Fantasy League. Sydnie’s version is 99% from Loren. Since she had only 3 days between the semifinal and the finals, BGT suggested she sing Loren’s version. Sydnie initially said no because Loren is her idol, but Loren not only approved it but also sent Sydnie a video of support.
The first time I heard this arrangement was the end song of the movie "Finding Forester" starring Sean Connery...it even had Busta Rhymes as the brother of the co-star whose name I cant remember.
Sydnie had said in an interview in a morning talk show that she was asked to do the Lauren Allred version but declined as Lauren was her idol and didn’t want to ruin it, so they did another version. Which is this.

I love Sydnie but I was soooooo disappointed in this song choice. It was played after her golden buzzer performance and just feels over done. She is an amazing singer but that note she went to on “true” was so out of place and didn’t flow in the song. I know she didn’t have much time to put it together but would have loved to see something more unique and not so overdone. The message of this song didn’t lend itself to so much belting either. She nailed the big notes they just seemed out of place. 🤷♀️ Am I the only one that saw these things?? To be clear I am NOT criticizing her singing, she is a phenomenal singer and I look forward to following her. I watched her other performances over and over and the story telling was gold, the songs fit her perfectly.
It fitted fine to me…. And I work in music. It probably is just a bit untraditional for you as it didn’t fit a “normal” melody. That’s actually what made it good tho. I agree rainbow has been done to death tho
She had three days to come up with a song, BGT suggested this version of "over the rainbow." She didn't want to do it because it was done by Lauren Allred and Sydnie is a big fan of Allred. Allred sent her a video encouraging her to do it. So, Sydnie put her own "kiss" on it and did such a beautiful version of this song, with three days prep. IMO it was amazing, and as Simon said pay attention to the audience, trust them, they always get it right. I have never heard an audience reaction on one of these shows like Sydnie received. Even Simon was overwhelmed, and that is saying something.
Her vocals are just phenomenal I'm happy for her that she won and I could listen to her all day every day oh my gosh

Sydnie adds more to it, Loren doesn't hold the long notes or the high note.

Yes the vocal coaches said same thing, it is similar but with her own twist.
@@carlos103able well the bgt vocal coach helped her with the changing of of the composition so the judges would of realised that I suppose.
