Pool players miss. Balls luck into pocket anyway. Funny.

  • Balls go to designated pocket accidentally. Fun to watch. Fortunately for the players here (and all of us), under almost all Call Pocket Rules (even in major tournaments for all pool disciplines) it is rarely necessary to specify details such as the number of banks, kisses, caroms, rails, etc.

I wonder if pool is the only game where players apologize when they get lucky. If a baseball player bunts and gets a lucky roll, he never says "I apologize."

There's a bygone tradition commendably on display here, John. For a great part of billiards history going back more than five centuries (golfers having brought the lawn sport of golf indoors as billiards for European play during winter months) billiards was frequently referred to as a "gentleman's sport". Danny's apologizing fits perfectly within that very positive, fair-minded context. We all know that beyond the close of the 19th century, gentlemanly conduct in billiards was/is often the opposite of its historical precedents, but I feel this reply goes far to answer your question.

yeah, when you hit the ball with force and barely miss the shot in any corner pocket as long as there aren't any interfering balls good chance for a 4 rail bank shot in the same pocket you just missed.

You've got that right, for sure. Very honorable and professional -- the Golden Rule personified by his comportment towards other pros (and mindfully respectful towards spectators).

First example: the guy must have been watching Bustamante's stroke very closely because he's trying to stroke that shot like he does. It's a cut to the left so he lines up on the left side of the cue ball then pivots his cue to "the middle", where the shot should be accurate but he does it without taking any practice strokes once he makes the pivot. I see Bustamante do this all the time and he almost never misses his shot. I don't recommend average pool players do this and for that matter it's probably a bad practice for even top players to do this. Is there something wrong with making sure you're lined up before you shoot ? heh
