As a Chinese, I must say that Shijie makes excellent guitars. And it is not we can not make good instruments, it is just because the big brands always set their cheap products to be manufactured in China and Indonesia. But we have some high ends native brands and can make better guitars at the same price as the big brands.

They faraday caged the guitar, granted i was allot more impressed by the pups they used but its just copper tape guys, most high end squires do that also but they use conductive black paint to do the same thing, its much much more $ then tape but the desired result is the same. I personally use the tape on all my guitars if they are not done already. If u dont know why do that or what a Faraday cage is? Its very simple, they build a grounded shell around all the electronics to prevent radio signal interference from bleeding into the pups

Ok. I received my new "White" one today. Actually, it is a very pretty light cream color. Even better. The gig bag is the most padded and nicest one I've ever had. It actually came with some extra parts and a second set of strings. I was kept in the loop as far as delivery continuously by the rep from the company while waiting for delivery. Excellent job with that.
Now to the guitar. FANTASTIC. Exactly like the one in the video. I paid for it, if anyone is wondering. All the build quality is top notch. Playability is excellent. Finish had no flaws. The one thing that surprised me on the sound was how deep a tone was there. Wasn't expecting that from a Strat-type guitar. Even nicer. Totally happy with the guitar and the buying process.

I also bought an STE with the light green finish, and I paid an extra 80 for engraving a sentence on the backside of the headstock.
I was also surprised by the size of the gig bag. It is really heavily padded as you said.
I didn't play Fender's strats before so I don't have much to say about the tone. But the guitar is really playable: the frets are noticeably higher than my PRS's and they make me much easier to slide and bend.

I just received my sea green guitar and it looks and feels amazing. The colour is beautiful and the neck is flawless. I spent 6 hours finishing my frets on my custom guitar with half the tool catalog from Stewart Mack and it is no where near as precise and "polished" as these on the Shijie guitar. I have top end guitars from Fender, Music man, Gretsch, and Martin and this one holds it's own to them. It is hard to describe how it feels but it reminded me of the solid and quality feeling I got going from trading my Ford Tempo for a Lexus ls400. One thing to add as well is their communication was prompt and detailed and I always felt in the loop with my order. This video is an accurate representation of the guitar I received in quality and tone except for the songs but that is solely due to my skill level as a player. I was hoping it would make me sound as good as Darrell but alas it only inspires me to practice more and hope.

Soft gigbag style case that, I have to say is very nice! I ordered the same color/model as Darrell and it looks/ feels great in person too! Also, like some have mentioned...they included a few goodies (some locking strap hardware, extra strings, some picks, and a really cool miniature wood guitar body that’s hollowed out so you can use it as a tray! Too cool! Paided $650 plus $150 for shipping. Ordered Oct 6? Got it yesterday November 8, so pretty quick, especially considering it was built just for me! Was slightly worried about this purchase, as I’ve been wanting a great strat style axe to add to my ‘81 LP custom I’ve played since early ‘90s. But Exni (Shijie) came through! Played everything from John Mayer to Floyd to Dire Straits to Hendrix on it for its maiden voyage...all sounded freakin awesome! Well Darrell , I bit the bullet and ordered my Shijie STE with jascar stainless steel frets, grover locking tuners & humbucker in the bridge. I am a FENDER guy through and through. I own 5 teles, and two strats, an American Std. Strat in sienna sunburst & a mim Roadhouse strat in white with the mint green pickguard and pre amp. I LOVE both of these guitars , they both play and sound great. I am a gigging guitars and teacher. First the bad: the ordering process was difficult. If it wasnt for Dave Shaw with Shijie it wouldnt have happened. The good: after placing the order , it took about a month to get to my door. The cost with freight was about $1,200.00. I can hear the comments now, at that price why not buy a fender? Well , if you have not played a Shijie , scrutinize it from every angle, see how its constructed and evaluate its components then you wouldnt ask that question. Remember, I love my Fenders, however Fender does not build guitars like the way this guitar is built. I dont own a Custom shop fender so I cant comment on that , I do own a custom shop Gibson 335 and I only wish it was built half as nicely as this Shijie. I dont care whats on the headstock, this is one well made instrument. Came set up perfectly, perfect intonation etc. It sounds like a STRAT! What more can I say. I think the out is a little stronger than my Fenders. One BIG surprise is that my wiring seems to be different than many. The bottom tone control definately controls the Humbucker in the bridge! Nice bonus ( maybe Shijie listens). The gig bag should be what all gig bags should be. The Shijie pick hold is also a cool touch! Darrell , because of you and your video I learned and purchased this guitar. I have not played a Suhr but it would be hard for me to imagine that any guitar could be more nicely constructed with attention to detail than this guitar especially for the money. The one thing I have not mentioned is the neck. That GLORIOUS neck! Not only beautiful but feels wonderful as soon as I picked it up. Different from both my Fender Strats, I was a bit concerned. Cant say enough about how great its feels, Looks and the frets are tall! Absolutely LOVE it. Tone is subjective so I cant comment on that other than I really like it and it sounds like a strat should sound. THis is NOT a knock on Fender , I lOVE mine but it is a Glowing review as to just how good this guitar is , especially at this price point. If anyone has any doubts, DON'T! Thank you Darrell for turning me on to this piece of art!

The thing with unknown guitar brands is that once the word has gotten out and everyones picking them up. Their QC might start slipping and they'll secretly switch out the components for cheaper ones just so they can meet demand. though this can be with any other brand out there - Even the super popular and well known ones.
PRS, Ibanez, Schecter - whoever can send you an absolutely top notch guitar to review but that review sample might not be the same as what will eventually roll off the production line. Its not just guitars where it happens. It happens in every other industry. Though big brands like PRS and fender probably wouldnt pull a move like that.

My schecter hellraiser model has been produced forever, and my 2017 model is SWEEET. No slippage on quality on my guitar anyway.

That guitar was amazing for $700. The attention to detail was excellent IMHO :-). Been thinking of buying a Stratocaster & was looking at the Schecter Nick Johnson, but this one, was something else. Honestly had never even heard of this brand before. If all their guitars are this good, sign me up :-)

Just saw the new video how they build these... I immediately went to the website and ordered one. After seeing your video showing off the attention to detail and then seeing that these are essentially hand built guitars! I couldn't wait any longer! I had also watched the Chris Buck (Friday Fretworks) video on his new custom Gray Emperor guitar. The Shijie and the Gray are essentially the same guitar. I actually like some of the components on the Shijie better! The Gray Emperor costs over 3000.00 pounds. Compare that to $823.00 (fully delivered) for the Shijie! So glad you introduced us all to this new Shijie STE!!!

Follow up on my purchase... This guitar is absolutely amazing! Custom shop quality all the way! The pickup tones and power are everything one could ask for. Fit and finish, impeccable. I own three other American Strats... SSS, HH, HSS. The Shijie is as good or better than any of them! Love the feel and look of this guitar! Customer service from the manufacturer is unparalleled. Mo in China and Jack in California go above and beyond to cover any concerns you may have. I had a couple of snags getting everything right, but they dealt with everything and in the end, I couldn't be happier.

    It's being built right now.
Will post when I get it.

I had the same exact reaction when you pulled the pickguard off and we saw how clean everything was. I would have assumed it MIGHT have the back of the guard shielded, at best. That is one of the best shielding jobs I've seen, VERY well done, no loose wiring, an actual decent tremolo block, etc.

Yes Darrell, I do agree 100% with you when you mention in this preview that we should not punish manufacturers of guitars of this quality at such an affordable price regardless of the country of origin. Fantastic review of this guitar whose brand was totally unknown to me.

Is it possible that they issued you a flawless guitar because they knew it would be reviewed by you? I wonder if I would get the same craftsmanship???
By the way! Great Video - I’ve shared it with guitar enthusiasts friends!

Actually, one reason not to buy cheap guitars is the toxic shielding chemicals. That is why I got rid of my Squire Bullet. You could actually smell it.
That's a great reason to use real copper foil.

    That is an amazing guitar.
I've bought a guitar and a bass from other manufacturers and found them to be very well made also - not as nice as this one, but still very nice. I bought a P-Bass for a few hundred with shipping and plays amazing. The country of origin doesn't matter much anymore.
I also have a G&L tele made in Indonesia that plays super and I've recorded many songs with it. When I bought THAT G&L there was an identical one next to it made in Fullerton, CA USA, and it was not as nice with rough frets, etc. The store owner said to me "do you want to play it or hold on to it to invest and resell?". Of course it is to play, he said get the Indonesian. It was 1/2 the price and so worth it. That G&L is what I have in my avatar. :)
    Great video.

Hi Darrell, thanks for demo. Beautiful guitar, high end made. But I don't like the tones. At 1st I thought the pick ups were noiseless like the Fender ones. Looking at those Japan made pick ups, could they be ceramic instead of alnico ? DC resistance measure could help sorting this question. Final questipn is: does this guitar have any Mojo ? Will you keep it ?
Edit: Shijie is a brand manufactured by Enxi guitars who also manufactures for Black Pearl guitars. Hard to find how to order one.
