The movie seems odd as you watch the first 15 minutes, trying to make sense of the story. But once you stop trying to make sense of it and begin to absorb in the many elements that Khun Apichatpong has put into this film, everything flows beautifully. It all begins to make sense and becomes very mesmerizing, almost hypnotic. Quite entertaining and has a deep impression on the viewer. An excellent piece of artistic work - something that 99% of mainstream cinema's films lack.
@@migol1984 Did you even watch it? The comment you made on my post. However It has been a couple of months since I viewed it and I must say the ghost scenes and waterfall fish scenes have stayed with me,,, it is by no means a great film however in my opinion.

@@steghuman9063 Hi. "The people that say this movie is great obviously have not seen many movies. " I think this is statistically false. From what I've seen on the internet, people who liked this film are the kind of people that watch many films of many kinds. People that don't watch many films mostly watch "mainstream" films (like Marvel for example) and I don't think that's the kind of people that would like Uncle Boonmee. Also, there is no mass hype toward this film, just have look on how many ratings it has on IMDB. People who liked it is a minority inside the film lovers community. Cordially. (sorry for my english)
It's the first time I come across Apichatpong Weerasethakul and from just watching the trailer of 'Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives' I thought "This person is the Tarkovsky of the 21st century. So tactile, so dreamlike. Communicating things words cannot."
"Tarkovsky of the 21st century" is the perfect way to put it, so fitting I feel like the comparison has been hidden in the back of my mind ever since I watched the film
It never ceases to amaze me, this peer attitude (the Kings new clothes), "OOOOOh aren't they wonderful?" Well, I am the kid who calls it as it is, ''The King is butt naked". This movie was absolutely dull, unsophisticated and uneventful. It is not terrible, it's just boring. I did like the lighting sound and cinematography.

I absolutely adore the pace and flow of the story, and the emotional pay off of the first scene before the title card is a huge inspiration to me
Best opening ever in the history of slow cinema
I loved the dreamy look of the film it was just so peaceful

I agree with the Tarkovsky comparison, I was thinking that this would make a wonderful double bill with Tarkovsky's Mirror
What a beautiful, beautiful video. You did really well.
I love this "New Canon" series and hope it continues. Great video!
What a wonderful video. This films stays with you.
thanks, that's good to hear! and i agree, it's a haunting film in the best way...
