Uh…people actually tell you they hate aspects of your home??? That’s extremely rude. Someone’s home is personal and should reflect those living in it. Thank you sharing your beautiful home with us. I have a different aesthetic than you, but I appreciate your style, the cohesiveness of the overall space and your ability to combine high and low design items.

Exactly. Black and white make things modern. It was very clever on her part,especially for a very dated house. Also, the house is huge, so she could get away with all the blacks. Black can also hide flaws. If you notice, in Europe, many store fronts are painted black because most building there are super old. Black, even glossy black, paired with antique gold/bronze hardware, instantly make it current, chic, and stylish. Without spending a lot of money 😂

I just love your home. I love your style , your bubbly personality and the fact that you shop high and low. You make it possible for people of all income levels to purchase things they might want to have in their homes. You love what you do and work hard to make everyone feel included. I never ever thought I would love a dark room until I saw your bedroom. I just might do it lol.You are absolutely correct in saying “To each his own” Your regulars love YOU for being YOU. I honestly love the idea of no upper cabinets , that is called minimalist and I’m here for it! You can get lower cabinets to put your stuff in . I love the idea then you have more open and airy space ! Yup love it Valentina
I have been following you for a couple of years now, and have re-painted a lot of my home white, black, and dark gray. It looks amazing and anyone who comes over loves it as well. I love the minimalist base and able to add color through accessories based on the season. Keep it up, I love your style.

Your home is spectacular! Crazy how people want to decorate your house for you. You are the one who lives there, so do what you enjoy. And yes, it's just paint, you can always repaint it. Some people have no sense of style.

I had forgotten until now that I removed a two-sided, ceiling-suspended upper cabinet that divided the kitchen and dining rooms. It was situated over an extra deep counter, and it bothered me that I couldn't see under the cabinet without bending down. It opened the area so much, that I don't miss the storage it once gave me.

I painted my previous kitchen black, walls, cabinets, everything. People thought I was completely nuts but I loved it. I lovecto wear black and white as well. I love being different. You go girl❤️😁

I agree with all you have done in your home. It is so elegant but livable. I took my blinds down many years ago. What a beautiful difference. Plus, blinds are dust magnets. Many people are afraid of change. So glad you embrace it.
I love your black fireplace and your darker, cozy dining room. I also agree with your decision to remove the blinds. Blinds block light and collect dust. Your home is beautiful.
Removing upper cabinets is absolutely perfect, I love how open it looks. Upper cabinets feel too heavy in a small space. Love it! I'm planning a kitchen right now and not planning on putting any uppers in the room.

Personally I really like the black fireplace. I think the contrast of the black and white took your home from looking very colonial to much more modern. I'm glad you are doing you!

I love it!!! We renovated our kitchen and added lower drawer cabinets only no upper cabinets just shelves. Also added some black elements.. It helps me with my visual state of mind not having so much clutter and it helped me minimize so much unneeded stuff. we had our dining room dark gray and loved experimenting I agree with you TRY new things!!

Always upbeat and positive. And when you and Jack get together (no matter what you are doing) it's like the Jack and Valentia show. So hilarious at times! I think your house was stuck in the 90's when you bought it. You did such a great job and I took a lot of your advice and decor tips in my house. My house has never looked sofisticated! Ty! Valentina, you inspired me to take out the upper cabinets in my kitchen! 💖It is absolutely transformative if you can do it (e.g., I have a pantry). _No regrets, love it!_ Trying to get my mom to do the same for style and safety - no uppers (especially when they go wayyy up) mean no stool or ladder. A real consideration for aging in place. 😘

I have always loved black and white anything. Clothes to art/photography and home decor. I painted my dining room an almost black quite a few years ago and love it! My husband and I are newly empty nesters and I've been slowly transforming our kid friendly home to what I've always wanted and guess what colors I've used.🤩 We sold our home in PA to live year round in our second home in VA. Before selling the PA home we renovated it using all neutrals and following your recommendations/style. The house sold immediately with a bidding war. Even people who didn't bid on it commented on the way it was decorated...thank you Valentina!!!
I think your home is awesome! Everything you've done has been spectacular. The thing that I love the most was when you finally painted the the top of fireplace up to the ceiling in black. It completed the look and it's fabulous.

I have been on one more mission since discovering you back in the fall. I have ALWAYS LOVED black and white but would have never thought about decorating my house in those colors. I definitely didn't know how to go about it. My walls are all white and I now have a black wall where our fireplace is...I have ordered your art wall suggestions, removed blinds etc.. One year back in the 90's I painted my entire bathroom black AND THEN.. my daughter and I bought bright pink interior paint and I told her " okay now just dip your brush and throw the pink paint onto the wall wherever it lands we leave it to dry! " I know! Wild right? But it was so much fun and what a statement!

I am the same way 😂 my husband is a painter and I cannot tell you how many times he has painted our home I’ve also painted our living room accent wall the same color of your fireplace lol but I loved it. It looked great. I wish I could post pictures but I did everything white everything is white and our fireplace is black just as like yours And I pretty much stick between black, white and beige decor with the greenery.
Also have double story windows w no coverings and LOVE THE LIGHT! And no window treatment is better than my view.❤
Your style has really evolved over the years. Its stunning and I'm working on a mini version of your style for my home to be black and white as it is classic. Not many do BW correctly. Its simply a must to bring in warm woods and rugs and accessories so it doesn't look cold. Your house is perfectly balanced, warn & inviting. You have a terrific husband that lets you do what you want, my husband would hate that much change.
I do not think you’re crazy!! I just love your style!! I just upgraded my master bedroom/master closet. The walls in the b.r. Are Dark Knight and the closet and fireplace surround is Urban Bronze ❤ love the dark colors!

I love the black and white. I absolutely have tried so hard to decide what to make black and it is incredibly hard as a non designer to decide. But as I have continued through the journey I have loved my home more and more the more white and black I do: and then adding creamery and beige! We are twins!

How we EVOLVE is always of interest...as is the question of what preceeding Generations have counted as "treasured" possessions/design choices...and how Generations henceforth will view our current "treasures"/choices.
I have enjoyed following the changes you have made over the last few years, & despite an occasional disagreement,
always acknowledge you are entitled to make & live with your own choices in your own home.
More controversial than any design choices is the push to keep acquiring "things".
Experimenting WILL require CHANGES;
but those merchandising links (so excitedly presented) can present a "Slippery Slope" to the Poor House instead of simply Enriching our Homes/Lives however
"simple or grand" they may be!

You have been repeatedly ahead of the curve on colors schemes and styles….your personality radiates enthusiasm, self-assurance, and joy! I love that you do what you want! Removing the upper cabinets in the kitchen is fascinating. The controversial thing I did in my home was put the gym where the living room would traditionally go, even has a fire place. But I wanted it there and I couldn’t be happier, naysayers can nay say away ❤
I just renovated my primary bath and removed the tub altogether. I just am not a tub person. Now I have an exquisite walk-in shower and my own vanity (that I don't have to share with my husband.) Totally worth it! There is a nice tub in the guest bath.
I love the black contrast with the white walls. It took it from nice to dramatic and chic ❤

As for people who are critical of what you do, you can guarantee it's the way they talk to themselves. I also had a neighbor over 20 years ago - also a designer, designed her kitchen like yours with no cabinets on top. It looked great! And whatever you do and try in your home, always works out gorgeous looking!👌

There are two words that describe your home... absolutely gorgeous! I love a black and white home. I am thinking about painting the bottom five feet of wall black all the way around my family room, and change out ceiling fan for chandelier. Relative has already told me she doesn't think that is a good idea.🤦🏾♀️

Preach, sister! People definitely take home decorating way too seriously, and I don't understand why so many folks criticize other people's choices. I love the old adage "take what you need, leave the rest". I follow a number of decorators/designers and I learn so much from them, including yourself! You've taught me many things about home decorating/design! Does my home look like yours? No, it looks nothing like yours. And I hope that it doesn't look exactly like anyone's home because I want my home to look like me! I for one think your home is a very unique reflection of your own personal style. That's what all our homes should do!
