Fun fact: pretty much every theatre in the Chicago area cheered when the Decepticons turned our city into a carnival shooting gallery.
i mean the locals of Edmonton loves the s1 finale of Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans where the boys are getting floored by an angry Proto-Ericht in the city.
Of course they were cheering, it showed the daily life in Chicago.

Fun fact: The Novelisation of DOTM actually gave Sentinel more character
Him and Sam have a deep conversation about how Sentinel and Optimus were parked by a Local Park. Sentinel told Sam how he heard of the world's problems and yet he saw how peaceful the people at the park were.
And Sentinel told Sam that the best way he thinks to solve Earth's problems, is to build more Parks... fucking hurts
As far as im concerned, the DOTM novel is the best version of DOTM.
Not to mention when sentinel kills ironhide, he aims at bumblebee, where skids jumps in and gets shot instead to save bee. Mudflap gets pissed and begins attacking sentinel. Gets a good few hits in and inevitably gets shot by the rust canon, but still keeps fighting until he is overwhelmed by the rust. After that Sentinel seems genuinely empathetic about everything and calls mudflap a brave warrior.
I think the final movie shouldve had a mix between the novelization sentinel and cartoony racist evil sentinel
I really enjoyed the comic versions of DOTM and on ROTF too. Especially with how Megatron was spared to continue with that truce for him to gather the remaining Decepticons to rebuild Cybertron on his own while Prime stays on Earth with the other Autobots.
Why whoever wrote the novel didn't get to write the movie?

I love how Shockwave was hyped up to this badass assassin who can take on Optimus Prime, yet he gets clowned on by every Autobot in the movie lol. Truly one of the most hilarious false advertising campaigns of all time.
I mean, he lives through many interactions.
Heck, his eye pops out and he keeps going.

Only time I saw advertising lying more than Shockwave was with Halo 5 trying to present master chief as going rogue.

Fun fact: the ending was supposed to be megatron asking a truce with optimus then optimus let’s him live while megs and his cons go back to cybertron to repair it while prime does his speech yadayada
Also Fun Fact; the reason why they changed it is because the ending leaked by accident from Amazon.

What's funny about Optimus's characterization in the bayverse is that in the prequel comics he acts like Optimus. He's not overly violent. He's calm and respectful to everyone. Hell, even in the movie adaptation comics he's more tame.
He seems to switch to ultraviolet mode when he goes into battle. Given how the decepticons work in these movies compared to any other media, I don't blame him.

I always liked the fan theory that Optimus is slowly getting more violent over the movies because he's suffering from PTSD and is getting tired of the war so he's just ending the war by killing all of them.

The final fight was originaly Optimus and megatron fighting together against sentinal.
I remember hearing about that and thinking that would have been the coolest thing ever. Like imagine being a 10 year old seeing that on the big screen, I still be talking about it to this day.

Turns out he set up the autobots to hunt down Sentinel.
That didn't make it into the movie, so it's not really a saving point.

@@samurexatlas7373We are given no reason to believe that was intentional, or that Shockwave calculated that move in the slightest. In fact, nothing in the movie even suggests Shockwave is capable of thinking beyond shooting what he sees. The smartest thing he does in the entire movie is avoid a fight with Warcrime Prime, and in the original script of the movie, maybe that was a calculated retreat and planting of evidence. But that's not the movie we got.

I don't know, sure Optimus in this series is considerably more violent, but to call him a total psychopath is kind of misleading imo. You gotta consider Optimus's side too, the Decepticons have been at it for a while now and they aren't gonna stop. what one may call a war criminal I see as a man just doing what needs to be done

Bayverse Optimus gives no fucks.
No he didn't. "And we needed them to believe we had gone" The "them" is referring to the decepticons, not the humans. Optimus needed the decepticons to believe that they were dead so they can have the element of suprise, giving them an advantage in the battle.
at this rate its better off to also review AoE, TLK, Bumblebee and ROTB

DotM is also my Favourite Live Action Movie that TF had so far. I love the Inclusion of the Moon Landing, Megatron's big plan, Sentinel Prime as a Twist Villain, obviously the Action and the "It's all going to Conclude here" Feeling.

7:22 - Tbh (I don't care what some of you might say), they wasted all of triple S bots here. My BOI Soundwave, did not only died by literal PLOT ARMOR character, but also... Yes, basically he was voiced by Frank Walker still, but his vocoded voice makes this character so unique, but her we have an actually really good voice acting... But kinda not suitable for the character... Do I have even say anything about Shockwave? Did not say NORMALLY (I don't care what you gonna say, I just want to understand what the character is saying) any lines. The design is not bad (At least you can tell that this is a Shockwave unlike the most of other characters...) but my God, you can't even say normally that he did at least SOMETHING in the movie. And to Starscream, Fire Brothers give him more justice then whatever are those writers of Bey did.

I went through the entirety of high school, got into college, watched 2 Monsterverse movies in the theaters. And became a BIG BOY. And now. He FINALLY decides to review Dark Of The Moon
I mean, Sentinel did shoot Ironhide with robot-eating space ebola, so I'm willing to give Optimus that one.
No surprise I and probably a lot of people like dark of the moon, mainly because unlike revenge of the fallen, and what came after, the decepticons felt like a threat again like in the first movie, mainly the praises go to Shockwave, laserbeak and StarScream . Shockwave was basically a unstoppable tank that with one move decommissioned Optimus for awhile, and requires both humans and autobots to take him down. StarScream is always a treat to have, and his scenes in this movie were just so cool, sad about his death still. Laserbeak had no right being as cool or intimidating as he was in this film, but I wouldn’t change a single bit with him. I really wish they did more with Soundwave and Megatron because they really felt like background characters

THE END THOUGH
For those curious about the original/novel ending many in the comments have mentioned, here is an excerpt from the DOTM novel that shows what would have happened after optimus and megatron killed sentinel:
Megatron lets out a long, high cry of protest as, with the anchor destroyed, the beam is broken.
I have just enough time to glimpse my home world. I reach up, imagining that I am holding it in the palm of my hand. And then the space bridge collapses, and just that quickly, the planet of my birth is drawn back to its point of origin.
All is silence.
Slowly I turn to face Megatron.
“You felt it,” he says to me. “You must have felt it. The draw of our world. It called to you just as forcefully as it calls to me. The difference between us is that I was willing to answer that call.”
“No,” I say. “It was never about Cybertron, any more than it was about Earth now. It was always about you. Whatever nobility you may have had once, or think you’ve had, was long consumed by your overwhelming need to dominate all you see before you.”
“Such pompousness from you, Prime. Your sanctimoniousness would be more impressive if we did not both know that the two of us are very much alike.”
“We are nothing alike.”
“I wanted to control Cybertron because I thought I was right. You fight me because you believe you are right.”
“I,” I tell him, preparing for battle, “am tired of your control.”
“And I …” He hesitates.
And he sags to the ground. “I … am tired of fighting.”
I have no idea what reply to make. So I wait.
“I sue for peace, Optimus,” he says finally. “I will order all Decepticons to stand down. It is over. All this”-he gestures around us-“is over. Even endless war must end sometime. Our world calls, and I will devote my existence-and the existence of all Decepticons-not to attacking you or humans but to returning to our home world. I have spent far too long destroying, and it has brought me nothing. Nothing. So I wish to try creating for a time and see if that brings me … something.”
“And I am supposed to believe your words? I am supposed to accept this call for a truce? After all the lies and deceits? After all the attempts to lay waste to an entire world?”
He stares at me for a time and then says, “Honestly, Prime, it does not matter to me what you believe. You still hold the weapon of Sentinel Prime. Use it. Annihilate me. I no longer care what you do. All I ask is that whatever decision you make, make it quickly.”
I look at the blaster in my hand. How easy it would be to destroy him. To put an end to it once and for all.
I glance toward the sky. Cybertron is gone. But as loath as I am to admit it, he is right. It calls to me. It calls with the song of what it once was, and what it could be again if only we, as a race, were capable of living up to the potential we once had.
“You are wrong. I am not like you,” I say at last, “because if I were, I would destroy you for showing what any Decepticon would define as weakness. Your own people may well tear you apart for this change in your attitude. For your sake as well as theirs, control them.”
“I will.”
Slowly he rises, trying to display some measure of dignity, and then he says, “When I do return to Cybertron and when I do make things right, I will send for you and yours. And we will join and be one race again. A race of peace. We will once again have a home.”
I say nothing as he walks away.
I want to believe it will be peace.
I want to believe that he can truly transform.
And I will hold out hope … because in the end, that is all we have.
It’s my favorite of the bay directed ones. I like how dark it gets with the invasion of Chicago.

I feel that on rewatch these movies give you a better appreciation for the designs. Some are garbage I'll admit, but giving sideswipe wheels instead of feet so he has a distinct way of moving and transforming, or making Laserbeak turn into anything, leaving you wondering where he could be in a scene adds a layer of coolness to the films

Oh man I remember seeing age of extinction in theaters as a kid with my dad. I was obsessed with robots, you could have shown me the most mediocre movie ever and as long as it had a robot my child mind would think it was a masterpiece… Me and my dad left that theater bored out of our minds and we both agreed that it was awful. Age of extinction genuinely kept me from getting into Transformers for nearly a decade because of the impression it left on me as a kid.
