- Bhairab river in india2021 is located in south-western part of Bangladesh which is acting as a source of irrigation, drinking, industrial process water and also sinks for waste water. This study area is stands on this river which is situated at Noapara municipality under Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore district in Bangladesh. This river receives wastewater.The river system of district Murshidabad primarily consists of Ganga and the course of it’s distributaries of which the most important are the Bhagirathi, Jalangi and Bhairab. Due typical geographical characteristics, most of the rivers of district Murshidabad being connected to the mighty flow of Ganga are snow-fed as well as rainfed. Bhairab River is an important river in the moribund delta area of Bangladesh although it is drying
up gradually. The study was conducted for a period of four months at six selected drying up points
of the Bhairab River, viz. Notun Khoyertola, Puratan Koshba Kazipara, Nodagram, Santola,
Nurnagar and Bijoy Nagar Villages in Jashore district to identify the causes for drying up of the
Bhairab River so that the flow of the river can be continued and kept alive by taking necessary
steps. Data were collected through questionnaire interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).
The data analysis revealed that both of human made causes and natural causes were responsible
for river dry. It was found that 47%, 78%, 64%, 64% and 73% respondents supported the
installation of dam, establishment of bridge, excessive irrigation in agricultural land, use of
chemicals, pesticides, industrial effluents etc. and irresponsible management of fishing,
respectively as human made causes for drying up of the Bhairab River. Data analysis also showed
that 65%, 62%, 60%, 67% and 80% participants favored climate change, siltation, rainfall
pattern, temperature and drought, respectively as natural causes for drying up of the Bhairab
River. From the study, establishment of dam was observed predominant among human made
causes and drought was found strongest among natural causes. The result also revealed 159 and
150 positive approval with respect to human made causes and natural causes, respectively as
causes for the river dry, which indicated that the human made causes were relatively more
responsible than natural causes for drying up of the Bhairab River. Therefore, it is very essential to
take necessary steps through individual and government participation and public awareness to
improve the present condition of the Bhairab River.These rivers which formerly had an active current are now merely spill channels of the great river, which during the Monsoons have the potential to carry flood water, but for the remaining part of the year there exists a very sluggish current. The streams are incapable of carrying large quantity of silt which they receive during the upper course and as a result this leads to shoal formation and thereby hampering navigation.

@@ANUP84 উৎপত্তি ভগবানগোলার খড়িয়াবোনায়। ৭৫ কিমি দীর্ঘ এই জলাভূমিটি প্রায় ৮ টি অংশে বিভক্ত। বিভিন্ন অংশ বিভিন্ন নামে পরিচিত। গোবরানালা, ভান্ডারদহবিল, মথুরাপুর বিল এর অংশবিশেষ। মোহনার দিকে এই জলাভূমির নাম সুতি।

ফারাক্কা বাধ ভাঙলে সব ঠিক হয়ে যাবে
ফারাক্কা বাঁধ একমাত্র সমস্যা নয়। তবে হাঁ এটিও একটি বড় সমস্যা।
সমস্যা আরো অনেক গভীরে।
ফারাক্কা বাধ এর মুল কারণ
ফারাক্কা শুধুমাত্র প্রধান কারণ নয়। তবে হ্যাঁ ফারাক্কা বাঁধ ও একটি কারণ বটে।
