Thank you from someone who knows nothing about any of this at all!!! I do have a voltage tester and so thank you for all of your suggestions. Hopefully, I figure out the problem. I need help fixing my grandson‘s 4 wheeler 2:16 power wheels that I found for him that someone was getting rid of but the wire in the control console is a mess. Help me please.
I could really use a suggestion...ive been working with the company and thry cant fig out whats going on. Weve changed batteries, control board, switches, and thermal fuse. My sons 24v stops when it has a kid on it(40 lbs). Then after a sec will go. Its also changing from low to high with while driving. Ive looked high and low for answers. My son is ready for his ride back😔
That's my problem but even with out a kid in wheel not start other times it would I've replaced gear switches pedal switch. I'm wondering if maybe it's the end connectors to motors or Somewhere along the wiring and at times it gets connection but little movement to wire making a stray.
@@leahrodriquez1349 if you have a voltage multimeter, use it to see if voltage is getting to the rear motors, if it is, you have a bad motor or bad connection.
I'm having the same problem. It will stop and won't go for a few seconds, then after pusing the controller button several times it will take back off. The streeing works with the controller all the time, it's just the going forward and back that seems to be messed up. As long as it's in 4x4 it seems to work all the time.
super useful. I am facing this weird issue where the wheels move just fine (both directions) WITHOUT load, but it refuses to move when my 35lb son sits in it. I checked the battery and it seems fine (measured 13V right after full charge). Could this be a weak motor?
I added a second 12v 7ah battery in sequence for longer run time which worked and would run for about an hour with some charge to spare. I then replaced both motors with 30,000 rpm (originally 10,000 rpm). it worked at first then started to cut out under load now it wont turn on at all. any suggestions please I would be very grateful.
Seem like the new motors pulled too many amps. Check to see if you have a fuse that blew, should be located near the battery. If it has a resetting thermal fuse, and not an automotive fuse, then the next likely issue is that the control board couldn’t handle the amps and it fried. You’d need a new control board
Can you suggest any reasons why a cars rear wheels want to propel the car forward but the front wheels want to fight them going on reverse?? Brand new worked fine with remote when tested. Sat for a month then when tested Aydin the from wheels are fighting the rear so car goes nowhere. Unplugged the front wheel harness and if course the car goes forward using just the 2 rear motors.. 4-wheel drive
Hi great video. I have just bought a used car which has same board and remote. The remote allows the car to move forwards/reverse but doesn't steer at all. I took out the steering motor and hooked to the battery directly and it turns fine. Is it likely to be a faulty board? Thanks!
Hello, when you connected the motor straight to the battery, did the motor spin? I'm having the same issue and wasn't sure if it was the motor or the control board
@@DadHacksI'm dealing with the same issue and I'm at the same conclusion. Wife already ordered an entire new ride on... We have a different ride on, I'm going to swap the power button in a last ditch effort. If it's not that, this unit is headed back to China
It could also be that the battery went bad. It might show that it’s fully charged, but once power starts to get drawn from it, it suffers voltage drop.
I bought new 12v batteries for my kids car. We already used it but when the battery went low i charged it but it coudnt pass 11.9 v mark using the built in charger.b What might be the problem from the car?
Thank you for sharing the troubleshooting steps. I checked my power out of the controller and it is 12.2V without pressing the pedal. Is that an indication of a controller gone bad? I originally thought motors were bad and replaced them but still not powering the motors. I checked voltage at the the motor connect and it read .1V. Could the cable be fried?
@@johnbohnhoff5989 12.2v is kinda low on the voltage, without pushing down on the pedal? How old is the battery? Ive seems batteries show 12.5v but when you put them under load (aka push down on the pedal) voltage drops and the motors won’t spin. If you battery is new, then the next spot I’d look at is the control board
Can you bypass the control board? Yes. But it’s a hassle, you’ll need a whole new wire harness. Easiest fix is to get a replacement board, they are usually $25
One question please, I have bought a car for my son and I changed the motors, I put in higher revs. my problem is that it works for 15 seconds and then it turns off by itself and turns on after 5 seconds. this happens constantly. it had a 12v battery 4.5Ah and I put a new 12v 9Ah one but it still does the same thing. Do you know what the problem is? Can you help me?
I currently have the same Issue I also have a 18v Milwaukee battery though,I’m sure it’s the board Issue as well since mine is 12v I’m pushing 24v so it’s tripping the board so I ordered a 24v board if it works I’ll be sure to get back to you
@@DadHacks have you tried it? did you change the board? I am waiting for your answer. If this is the problem, I should also order a new board. My question is, if I put new boards, will there be a problem and burn the motors that are 12v?
@bambamyt5915 Start by changing out the board for a replacement 12v. It’s either the board or the thermal fuse “breaking”. Your new 12v motors will be fine
@@DadHacks what board should I put? the same one or another one? if I have to put another one, do you have any idea which one to put? again with 12v or with 24v?
I have two brand new batteries. I tested the control module and was able to get a reading of 9 volts to the motors. Should that be 12 volts? The car turns on but is so sluggish and eventually shakes to a stop. The batteries have a full charge.
Voltage should be 12+ at the motors. Check the voltage under load. It might be a two person job. 1 to hold the pedal and 1 to hold the voltage meter on the battery and see if the battery’s voltage drops from 12 to 9
I am reading about 9V on the instrument display and about 11V at the battery. Is the difference between those readings enough to stop enough power getting to the motors? I did replace the control board which did not fix the issue, not moving forward or back regardless of remote or push pedal operation.
Thanks for video, I replaced 12v board to 24 and it works very well but remote control not responding, should I purchase white remote controller with 24v board or what?
Hi, my kid has a similar car which stopped turning right with remote control. It turns left just fine, but not right. I measured on control board the output to electric motor which does the turning and saw 0VDC when I'm turning right, with 12VDC when turning left. I assume it should also give 12VDC but with reversed polarity. What could this be?
Out ncqueen recently stopped working mid drive. Charger and battery are putting off the right voltage. However the gas doesnt seem to activate the charge. Any common issues with mcqueen to trouble shoot? I already took the whole body apart and all the wires are in good shape
@@DadHacks it is power wheel. One weird thing is the same drive session in which it broke mid drive, I had to give it a push to get started. I wish there was a fuse on these things cause that would be it. But my voltmeter isn't activating when I hold it on the hot line and push the vehicle either, which is interesting. That normally should generate some activity
@clemsmith2253 check to make sure you have voltage leaving the battery. Then check is voltage is getting to the top and bottom pins on the foot pedal. Typically it’s a dirty foot pedal switch or gear shifter switch. It gets dirty from electrical arcing
Hi great video thanks. My sons steering works one way but very limited in the other direction. Is this likely to be the connecting rods? Saw another video that says to bend the rod to give more steering, is this correct? TIA
It seems like the switch gear to put it in drive is shorting out. It will drive for a few seconds then stops and starts flashing where you switch gears. it doesn’t seem like it’s a battery issue.
Do the wheels “lockup” immediately or is it a slow roll when they stop? Seems like it’s probably something in the control board that’s off. You could try replacing the board, that’s the most likely cause do the issue
Upgraded my sons 12v to 18v Milwaukee power and it worked perfect for the first day but now won’t move. When the switch is turned on the battery level indicator on the dash still reads full. Did I burn out the control board?
Just bought a used Mercedes ride on. With parental control. Works for first couple minutes after turned on. Then forward and reverse stop. Parental control or pedal does nothing. All other functions work normal. Just forward and reverse. Tap on the control box and it goes into gear. Control box going bad? Any help is appreciated.
Yes, I would say it’s the control board that’s going bad. It could also be the forward/reverse switch, but it sounds like it’s more of a control board issue
Is the forward reverse switch located in the control box? Or on the forward reverse lever? Tapping on our near the lever does nothing. Slight tap on the control box however and we're moving.
@FishinWithLove no, the forward/reverse switch is the physical switch that changes the direction. There are usually 3 or 6 pins on the backside. They can get rusty/dirty overtime and just need to be cleaned to make the connection better
Will this also effect when using the parental control? I think I'll go pull it and make sure it's clean and connection is good. Than order a new control box of that doesn't help. Thanks for your help.
I picked up a Olakids ride on truck 12V. I upgraded the battery so that I could use my Kobalt batteries. Well now the steering won’t work with the remote anymore and neither will the radio. How do I fix this?
@@DadHacks um I just installed a new board in it thinking that was the problem and board is a 24V max 35 amp. The kobalt battery is 24v max 4.0 Ah. And the remote still isn’t working and neither is the radio.
Sounds like the shifter switch needs replaced or cleaned. It’s typically just a rocker switch that gets dirty from the electric arcing. I can link a replace part if you tell me how many pins are on the bottom of the switch
Question, i picked up a two seater beach buggy and it didn't have a battery, in using an 18v drill battery and adapter. When I got the car the control board was in horrible condition. I bought a brand new replacement (not the exact same controller but has all the right pins) and I'm not getting any voltage out at the motor connectors on the control board. The car turns on, accessories work, but no voltage leaving the controller to motors. I have a tough time believing it's a bad controller because it was brand new... Any ideas?
Was it a 12 volt or 24 volt board? When using 18 or 20 volts, you’ll need to use a 24v board like this. amzn.to/4bPJc74 It’s possible you fried something on the board if it’s 12 volts.
My daughter has G500 12v, everything works perfect, manual accelerator works perfect too. And The parental remote connect to the car but it won’t do anything else. I got a new remote but it does the same. Pairs to the car but doesn’t function.
@@DadHacks never tried to use stop/park button while the car is running in manual mode… lol Car has only forward, neutral and reverse gear. I have tried keeping the gear on all 3 modes but it won’t work.
There should be another switch to go from manual to RC. I asked about the emergency stop button because if it works on manual mode, then that means the remote is actually working and paired, otherwise it might not be paired correctly
Great video, I have an issue where the motors won't turn off from the on / off switch but the LED on the switch works and it seems to be continuity from the switch, but, the wheels keep spinning. Could you assist. I have modded the car with 1x 18v battery 30a fuse. The car is second hand and the previous owners couldn't tell me what the issue was before so i assumed dead battery and replaced it but now, It's very dangerous when the kids are trying to hope in and out.
I’m not sure how your car is wired, but a couple of things could be going on. The on/off switch and the pedal could have melted in the “closed” circuit position, meaning electricity is always flowing. If the lights turn off, then just the pedal could have just melted in the closed position. In short, start my replacing your pedal.
Assuming this was the case and looking like it could be, i just don't understand it i guess, could the pedal still work normally and this is only affected when the on/off switch was pressed? I only ask this cause when the car is in netrual the car stops, and once you put it in high speed or low speed the car will only go once the pedal has been pressed and held.
to bother i have a 24V jeep suddenly the wheels spin only one turn and stop. I tried changing the charger, battery, reciever, and fuser still nothing. The only thing i found out is when i connect one motor at a time they function properly but when connecting the 2 motors of the wheels it only spins ont time and again become very weak. Is the problem from the wire connecting the 2 motors all the way to the receiver thanks
That is odd. Off the top of my head, make sure the battery’s connections are good and not loose. 2) if you have a voltage multimeter, that will be really helpful to see if full voltage is getting to each motor. 3) My best guess is one of the batteries is weak or bad and even if it shows 24+ volts, it probably drops to under 18 volts when under “load”, which isn’t enough to power the motors
So if there is no power coming out of the control board when pressing pedal does that 100% confirm the board is bad or if pedal or shifter switch is bad does it stop power from going to the control board?
Tough question because all rides are wired a little differently. If I had to give odds, 75% if there is power coming into the board but no power out, it’s going to get the control board, otherwise it could be the shifter switch or pedal the other 25% of the time.
I have a question. I have a 12 v jeep that came with 12000 rpm motors. I bought 23,000 rpm motors and put them in. They work great on the road/sidewalk but when we go off road on trails the jeep will shut down, restart and then shut down repeatedly. With the 12000 rpm motors they ride through the woods no problem but the jeep is slow. I have a RECOVERABLE type fuse which shuts off the power supply if the current exceeds 15 A. Is that the problem? Too much draw trying to go up a "hill" while having double the rpm, half the torque? Should I buy a 20A fuse instead? I have 2 - 12 volt 7ah batteries side by side, a 20 Amp max module. I put a 35 Amp module on it but it still shuts down. What is the problem?
You are correct; it’s the fuse that is “popping” due to the high amp draw. A 20 amp fuse is the highest I’d go. Otherwise you would need to rewire the car with 12 gauge wire, then you could use a 30 amp fuse.
I am not I'm using a ryobi kit I bought it's actually 18 v to the board I thought it was a buck converter that came with it but it's actually just a low voltage protection which doesn't make sense cause ryobi batteries already have that
Going to examine this video a bit, as my niece got one a while back, but since it came out of the box, the forward/reverse never did a thing and when pressing the pedal, it would go random forward of backwards. Like forward, forwards, then backward, backwards, forward, backwards... everytime you let go of the pedal and press it again. So weird cant find anyone else encounter this. Any ideas? Im going to try and fix it, cant be that hard unless the controlboard is a problem.
You’re the second person with this person in less than 1 day that’s comment about this problem. I haven’t ran into it before but it sounds like a shifter and pedal issue.
My son’s Maserati just isn’t steering anymore. It goes forward and backward when I use the remote and push down the pedal, but it does not turn no matter if I use the remote or turn the wheel. Any suggestions??
When you use the remote, can you hear the steering motor working? At first that’s what the issue sounded like, but then you said the wheels won’t move even when you manually turn the steering wheel, which makes it sound like a screw or bolt fell off where the steering column meets the steering linkage between the 2 wheels. Turn the car over and play with the steering wheel, you should see what’s causing the wheels not to turn

Hi i got a power wheel just like the one in video from a friend change the battery it rolled for a couple mins then cut off. When i turn the wheel the wheel the lights on dash come on but will not turn back on
The lights from moving the steering wheel is just electrical feedbacks from the steering motor. 1) make sure the battery is charged up really well, it seems like it’s a battery issue if it was working at one time

@@markpeppard1770it could be the on/off switch, but that’s usually ok on 24 volt, however it gets damaged if left out in the rain. If it makes a noise on start up, then it won’t be the on/off switch
Hi, I have a problem with the wheels, when I power up the wheel turn to the right and the remote control won’t turn them anymore. Any clue what is going on?
I only have a guess, it sounds like something in the remote control or the control board is broke. I would start by replacing those first to see if it’s the issue. Seems like a control board issue
The first thing I would check is the on/off switch. If it gets wet, it can corrode. If it has the control board and that got wet, that could also be an issue

Thank you for your videos. They’ve been the easiest to follow and most informative that I’ve found. I’m confused about the difference between the control board and the ESC. Idk if I fried the motors or control board on my sons PW Brute Force. But it ran hard on 18V Ryobi for nearly 4 months before it stopped working. Any advice on new parts and how to wire the control board and ESC would be most helpful!
Most real Power Wheels brand cars will not have a control board. A control board is used for: Pairing a parent remote control, powering lights, sounds and motors. Most power wheels use AA or D batteries to power sounds/lights if they have them at all. In your case, I doubt the Brute force has a control board. I also doubt that both motors went bad at the exact same time. Check to see if the Reverse gear works (and also try the High and Low setting so see if any of them work), if so then you might just have a bad switch.
I’m cleaning the gear boxes right now so I won’t be able to check that out at the moment. But I do remember that if I held the pedal down while trying to move the four wheeler, I didn’t have that rear wheel resistance that you get if you try to push one of those around without using the power. As for the gear boxes, aside from being full of thick sludge, the gears are in excellent shape.
If it’s not charging, either the batteries are dead or there isn’t a good connection to the batteries. My bet is that the batteries are dead, but it should be easy to replace

You’ll need a voltage multimeter to see if you are getting voltage to the rear motors. If you are, then either the connection at the motors is bad or the motor is burned out.
Hello. I just got a wheel power for my daughter and the pedal accelerator is only 3V, the main board give me only click and there’s a long beep. The wheel power is 24v. How much voltage should I have in the pedal ?
I don’t think the 3 volts is the issues. I think that’s just a signal to the pedal, which is acting like an on/off switch and then sending that signal back to the control board. Typically cars with a control board don’t run the full voltage through the pedal. Do you have a voltage multimeter, if so use it to see where you are losing voltage
@@DadHacks I have a multimeter. From on the pedal is only 1 metal is 3V and the main board is also 3V. I checked where is the shifter is also 3V. Where’s should I look for? Or where I should put the multimeter.
@xavi-12 start at the battery to get the initial voltage reading and then follow the wires from the battery. Do they go to the pedal or to the control board? Check what the voltage is going in, and then voltage going out
@@DadHacks the power from the battery go straight to the main board 24V and after that power goes out from the main board to the pedal 3V . After from the pedal goes to the shifter.
Hey I have a jeep the on switch doesn’t show that it’s on and won’t move but when you turn the wheel the lights come on it a v12 battery and I also have a motorcycle v6 that doesn’t come on
The lights come on because the steering motor is providing feedback when you manually move the steering wheel. The easiest way to find issue is to use a voltage multimeter and follow where you lose voltage. If it’s the on/off switch, then that’s easily replaceable
That’s a possibility, although that doesn’t happen often. Verify that the connection to the control board is connected well. Also try turning the steering wheel manually and see if any lights in the dashboard light up. Typically manually turning the steering wheel will generate energy feedback, causing the dashboard to light up. So if it lights up, you know it’s likely the steering motor is burned out
Our grandson was hooking up the red and black wires. He crossed them up. First it didn't do anything. Complete dead. We replaced the control board and now it starts and when you put into the gear (forward and reverse) it goes by itself. you don't even need to push the gas peddle. So now what do we need to do????
It sounds like the pedal melted in the “closed” position, meaning the circuit is closed at all times. The pedal just act as on/off switch. You’ll likely need to buy a replacement pedal.
would you know the wiring orientation, i have a 3 pin switch which was forward reverse, i bi passed the system to run 12v and forgot how it was wired dont see a diagram online and seems to not exist? i got a radio flyer grow cart, 6v board got tired of 12v, 20v and 24v i pushed it hard but got a green brown blue off the switch and had a brown and black off go button if you got a recomended setup let me know?
The forward side of the Forward/Reverse switch is dirty. Remove the switch, it’s most likely a 6 pin DPDT (double pole, double throw) rocker switch. You can try cleaning it by popping off the rocker cover and scraping the metal where it’s dirty, but it’s a cheap enough part ($5) to just buy a new one if that doesn’t work. You could also try reversing the positive and negative terminal on the battery to get it to run forward when it’s on the “reverse” side.

I have a problem. When I push the on switch I get respons for a second and after that it going down. When I constantly push the on button it works. Once you got your finger off that button it will die immediately. I already did a unsuccesful battery change including a small "explosion" and smoke. How can I get the car running for my kids?
@@DadHacks thank you for your swift reply. It was a 12v 7ah battery. According to the specs. Im now busy with the car and found that the 2 red cables going to the battery are burned. It is a model with dual battery. I think this was the cause of the explosion and the fact that the car is not working anymore. So I guess I have to change the 2 red cables, right?
@Hamza-Salim Car with batteries can be tricky. One thing to check is to see if your fuse blew. Another thing to check is to make sure there’s no exposed wire from the explosion that could cause a short
Hi I have been given a brand new Mercedes Actros truck and semi trailer, which was a customer return to my friend an online trader, It will not start and shows no lights etc. Have checked batteries are fully charged and replaced the parental control R/C unit in the car with a brand new one, I wonder if the returnee could have swopped the cables over to the control unit to give an excuse for return and refund? as I am unable to find a wiring diagram don't know how to check which is correct and can I do any harm if I swop to see what happens? any help welcome thanks.
I doubt the returnee messed with the wiring, most people are smart enough to do that and it’s too much of a hassle. You need to use a voltage multimeter to see where you are losing voltage
Hi! Hope you can please help us :), we recently bought a brand new Power wheels 12v dino racer (or triceratops) something like that, which suddenly stop working, when we press the pedal it doesn't go forward nor rear, battery is brand new and fully charged, what could be? TIA
Sounds like a bad connection. Start by looking at the foot pedal and then look at the motor connections to make sure nothing fell off. If you can’t find the issue, then you’ll need to use a voltage multimeter to see where you are losing voltage.
I have a power wheels Barbie camper, it powers on and then the light blinks purple four times and won’t drive. Any idea what the cause is? I can’t find info anywhere
The Barbie camper and the Boomerang are one of a few Power Wheels branded cars that have a control board. The control boards are known to go bad, which is why it’s blinking purple. Your only option for a replacement control board is through a Power Wheels Service Center, but there aren’t many of those around and they don’t sell the part direct to the public. I’ll have a video out this spring on how to bypass the control board, like a normal Power Wheels car can is set up to do.

Hello! Great video I have a question, I blow up the control board on my sons power wheel but now that I bought a new control board it only turns on if I hold the power button down. (if I hold down button power and gas it no power to motors) Any advice.
To know for sure, buy a voltage multimeter. Possibly the on/off switch is bad. After that id look at the pedal switch, and then check if voltage is leaving the control board.
Hi quick follow up on this. I was able to get the car to stay on but now the problem I have is it stays on and it automatically starts going without anybody stepping on the gas pedal any idea what I need to change
What voltage battery are you using? It sounds like your pedal has melted in the “closed” position, which means it’s allowing electricity to pass through even if the pedal isn’t pressed down.
Is the horn powered by the car’s battery or check to see if it runs off AA (or AAA) batteries… if its a car with a parent remote control, there’s a good chance the control board went bad in the car. The other thing it could be is that the on/off switch went bad
Great video. Quick question I tried charging the car all day then when I turn it on the next day it tries to turn as in just the dash has a little dim and no noise and then just dies and nothing turns on. You think it’s a battery?
I bought one off market place and it charges really fast but then dies after like 2 minutes of driving it and i even charged it for half a day and all night and it still dies after 2minutes of driving it.. what could be wrong with it?
@dad hack - picked up a Range Rover version for my son(s) on startup it makes engine noise, lights work, radio etc works but when you attempt forward/reverse nothing. I have noticed on the display 6.3v and Flash (which flashes) new to this so guessing the 6.3v is battery Voltage which won’t be enough to power machine? Replacement battery needed? Thank you
Yup, definitely sounds like an old battery issue. If the original battery is 12 volts/ 7 Amp hour you can replacement it with this 12v/ 9Ah battery (amzn.to/3TYJTF0). If it’s a 12v/12 amp hour battery, go with this replacement ( amzn.to/3TYJTF0)… lastly if the 12 amp hour battery fits, definitely go with that or a 7 amp hour battery.
i got a question, can you go up in rpm for the steering wheel, my lambo ride on car came with 12v 18000 rpm, but i cant find that part anywhere, could i go up to 20000 or would 16000 rpm be best?
I have a ride-on car that does not stop immediately after I lift my foot from the pedal. It keeps going for about 2 more seconds after lifting the pedal. Remote will also not stop/override the car during that 2 secs. Cannot immediately stop the car which is a safety issue… Any clue what the issue may be? Is it a motor issue? Or mother board issue? Battery seems strong, car is only 3 months old! Cannot figure out ;(
Hey man the problem I’m having with mine when u touch the gas either from the remote or inside the car it drives on its own for a while In both forward and reverse
If the car just went on its own when you manually pushed the pedal, I’d think it was the pedal that needs replaced, but since it happening both manually and with the remote, it seems like there’s a connection on the control board that’s bad. I’d start by replacing the control board
@@DadHacksdude you’re actually a genius just got the part from Amazon. I changed it out. It only took me like maybe three minutes to change it out and everything is back to normal. Thank you so much man can I send you a tip please? You’re amazing.
Thanks for posting this, we apparently have an identical issue, so this must be a common fault. Next stop ebay for a replacement and hopefully lots of points from my grandkids!!! I have a remote that has been working up until this issue, if I get the new control board, will there be an issue with the pairing to the old remote?
Yes, the old remote “should” be able to pair with new board. I usually try to get the same replacement board, to avoid issues. Because not all remotes and boards will sync.
If it’s not working at all, it sounds like it’s the control board. It could be the forward or reverse switch or a bad motor, but it’s most likely the control board
My power wheels car keeps shutting off? It will run anywhere for 10 secs to 1 mins then stops? Nothing from the peddle response, turn on for a few seconds then it resets and goes then cuts out again
@DadHacks yes, it's a 12v and I'm running dewalt 20v. I'm wanting to upgrade everything to a 24v to avoid the overloading. Do you know or have any suggestions on parts?
Couple questions, 1) does it have a control board (does it have a parent remote). 2) check the fuse, if there’s one, to see if it popped (should be near the battery). 3) it could be that the on/off switch is “dirty” and the connection can’t be made, replacing it could fix the issue
What brand is the car? Does it have a control board like the one in the video? I had a 6 volt Audi R8 that didn’t have a control board, which is why I’m asking
The easiest way is to trace where you lose voltage with a voltage multimeter, because it could be a number of reasons. My first thought is to make sure the battery is connected well and then to look at the starter button. It’s possible the starter button got corroded and needs replaced
@nanaakuanhyira4621 that’s good, so I would eliminate the start button being the issue. The next most common issue with the control board, that’s the “brains” of the car that provides power to everything
Super detailed and great video. We got our son a 24v truck and fairly soon after it started getting stuck gear and the only way to stop it from running into everything is to put it in park or power it off completely before running into something. Sometimes it’ll start out just fine but a few minutes in he can’t even drive it anymore because I’m worried he’ll get hurt 🤦♀️ or hurt something else. Any suggestions?
It almost sounds like there is an issue with the pedal. Either the plunger on the pedal gets stuck and doesn’t release, or potentially it’s melted in the closed position causing it to stay on even after he lets off the pedal
@@DadHacksthank you! Do you think that would still possibly be the issue even if the pedal was never pressed? Like he powers it on, puts it in gear and before even pressing on the pedal it is off and going. 😅 first few times it gave us and him a good laugh but now it’s just getting old and dangerous.
@MistyStupka yup! That definitely sounds like it’s melted closed. Take a flat head screwdriver and pry up the pedal from the side. See if it had 6 or 2 metal pins on the bottom. For example, this replacement pedal had 6 pins: amzn.to/3TWajpO

My son is ready for his ride back😔
What’s the brand and model he has? And what brand batteries (and the voltage/ amp hours on them)
That's my problem but even with out a kid in wheel not start other times it would I've replaced gear switches pedal switch. I'm wondering if maybe it's the end connectors to motors or Somewhere along the wiring and at times it gets connection but little movement to wire making a stray.
@@leahrodriquez1349 if you have a voltage multimeter, use it to see if voltage is getting to the rear motors, if it is, you have a bad motor or bad connection.

super useful. I am facing this weird issue where the wheels move just fine (both directions) WITHOUT load, but it refuses to move when my 35lb son sits in it. I checked the battery and it seems fine (measured 13V right after full charge). Could this be a weak motor?
It was the battery. I replaced with a brand new one and the car is zipping with my kid in kt
@@DadHacks Thank you for replying and thank you for the advice, i’ll let you know how i get on 👊🏻

The wires going to the front motors are reversed. On the front motors, just switch the connections
Hi great video. I have just bought a used car which has same board and remote. The remote allows the car to move forwards/reverse but doesn't steer at all. I took out the steering motor and hooked to the battery directly and it turns fine. Is it likely to be a faulty board? Thanks!
Correct, it’s most likely the control board. Just make sure the connections are good. If they are, then it’s most likely the control board
Hello, when you connected the motor straight to the battery, did the motor spin? I'm having the same issue and wasn't sure if it was the motor or the control board
Im so glad i found this video. I need help. Battery is good. Control remote motor is good. Gear box motors are good. But it will not power on

For a 12 volt battery, once the voltage falls under 11.9 volts, the battery is basically dead

Our 24v Ryder power wheel keeps going for 2 seconds after letting off the gas paddle. What can be the issue? Thanks
Do the wheels “lockup” immediately or is it a slow roll when they stop? Seems like it’s probably something in the control board that’s off. You could try replacing the board, that’s the most likely cause do the issue

The lights do turn on and off when the switch is pressed
Looks like it was the controller problem solved, cheers.

to bother i have a 24V jeep suddenly the wheels spin only one turn and stop.
So I have a power wheel wild thing and the code on the board is 1 slow and 8 fast blinks do you know what that could be
Are you using a 12 volt battery?
I am not I'm using a ryobi kit I bought it's actually 18 v to the board I thought it was a buck converter that came with it but it's actually just a low voltage protection which doesn't make sense cause ryobi batteries already have that
Those “smart drive” systems on the Wild Thing don’t like to be over volted. Is it flashing purple? Or a different color
Maybe the wires got crossed for the shifter and pedal

@DadHacks Where is the control board and do they sell a separate steering motor?

Hello, my keep has no control power for the steering system, possible that the steering motor is out?
That’s a possibility, although that doesn’t happen often. Verify that the connection to the control board is connected well. Also try turning the steering wheel manually and see if any lights in the dashboard light up. Typically manually turning the steering wheel will generate energy feedback, causing the dashboard to light up. So if it lights up, you know it’s likely the steering motor is burned out

Try this to see if it goes fast in Forward. Try switching the polarity of the motor and then put it in “reverse”
I have a 6 v ride on car for kids of tow mator from cars. I charged battery hooked it up but it wants to run in reverse. Why

Couple questions, 1) does it have a control board (does it have a parent remote). 2) check the fuse, if there’s one, to see if it popped (should be near the battery). 3) it could be that the on/off switch is “dirty” and the connection can’t be made, replacing it could fix the issue
My daughters Audi won’t even start. Would the battery be the only reason for that?
What brand is the car? Does it have a control board like the one in the video? I had a 6 volt Audi R8 that didn’t have a control board, which is why I’m asking
Dadhack! Question. This car won't even produce a starting sound and no lights... batteries have been changed and almost other parts.. why so?
The easiest way is to trace where you lose voltage with a voltage multimeter, because it could be a number of reasons. My first thought is to make sure the battery is connected well and then to look at the starter button. It’s possible the starter button got corroded and needs replaced
the power button actually turns red. but no sound no light no music board right- nothing @@DadHacks
@nanaakuanhyira4621 that’s good, so I would eliminate the start button being the issue. The next most common issue with the control board, that’s the “brains” of the car that provides power to everything
will check that too, thanks a lot@@DadHacks
@@DadHacks thank you!!!
Hi my son’s Mercedes wast charged when it first arrived. Honestly I don’t know where to plug-in the charging cable which came along with the car. Is there a way I could contact you!!
You can email me at GogoPoweredWheels@gmail.com … take some pictures of the charging cable and then the dash cars board and then some pics of the car from the front
