    Love the fact you review/use a lot of budget options as well and not just hillebergs and Rab sleeping bags like some other channels

    No Like button Dan ! , It's the noise from gas burners that puts me off , when the fuel for a firebox is always available if you know where to look ! , Be Well my Friend .🙂👍

    I sent the Jetboil Minimo back to Go Outdoors after three days as the piezo ignition was just not reliable. It was on offer for £105 about a year ago. Shocking quality at that price. I've now got an OEX Heiro and love it. Just for boiling water quickly. For cooking I use either my Trangia alcohol stoves, Soto Windmaster or my Optimus Polaris multifuel.

    I have had the X2 for a few years now. i use it regularly. It has never failed me. No problems with the parts and I think it is just as good as a jet boil.
    If you eat the reheat hiking meals they fit into the pot better than a jet boil. The x3 looks to have a slightly shorter pot though.
    Totaly agree with Dan's assessment of this stove. It is a little jem.
    tip, the 500c cans fit the stand at a wriggle.

      Yeah I've had one for a good few now too, was Chinese import £30 use it more than my Jetboil tbh, but the price of these firemaples aren't that far off jetboils now.

    Thanks for taking the time to show us 👍🏻 Those type of stove always appear a bit top-heavy to me, I think I’ll stick to my tiny low to the ground fold-away one. I’d somehow knock one of those tall things over!

    Nice overview brother! Looks like a good bit of kit especially when you want a brew first thing in the morning and don’t want to get the fire pit going again! Nice one mate 👍🏽👍🏽👌🏽😎

    Cracking video again Dan thanks for sharing good to see what's out there instead of just the top named brand's which most of the time you're paying for the name 😀 👍

  • @Bokooda

    Bought one of these 2 years ago for £25, they're almost 3 times the price now! It's called Fire Star or Fire Maple, depending where you look. It's till going strong though. You can turn the neoprene cover inside out if you're no too keen on the luminescent colours, it's black inside. TIP: Pack each part with a length/strip of washcloth between each, stops the rattle and means you can pull each part out 1 at a time rather than pouring the bits out. Yes its noisy, but all jetboil-alikes are, but they are quick.

    I'm with you Dan, I don't think it has to be real expensive to work. All of my gear came from Walmart except one piece and I bought a msr pocket rocket 2 and it works real good . It works just as good as the more expensive ones. I have as much fun with my cheap stuff as anyone else.

    This is a great piece of gear! You should add this with the Highlander Peak Weekender cookware kit and you'd be all set for your travels :) Awesome video!

    Some day I may think on it but I'm fine with what I've got. It's good to see more affordable options out there eh Dan, that's what I like about your channel - no label snobbery just down to earth 😉 😀 it's time for me to get out more. A wild camp is required.

    I bought the oex heiro and I like it because it’s smaller and is perfect for e-bike packing but I like this firemaple because of the pan stand I wish oex would make a pan stand for the heiro

  • @Gus-1313
    @Gus-1313 2 года назад

    Thanks Dan. I still use the OEX version of this. It’s identical. If you get the Primus 230g can then it all fits trust me. But you need to put the bits back in a certain order.

    Good basic video Dan, much appreciated and will look forward to a full review at a later date. Looks like a good Jet boil knock-off, if it gets people out and cooking then I’m all for it, let’s not forget Jet boil was one of the first if not the first to produce these personal cooking system, they do all the hard work for others to come along later to tinker with the original to bring out something of a clone😂 Always good to get a notification that you have uploaded, ATB from deepest Dorset 👍

    Bob on. I’ve had the X2 for about 4 years. Got it on a Planet X deal for £25, bargain and it’s been fine other than the piezoelectric igniter packing up.

    These cookers may be quick but they are a bit bulky compared to a low down burner with a tube to the canister, will be watching with interest how it performs.

    I got the fire maple polaris last November for the fishing this year and i just took it out and the rubber gasket has failed on first use and won’t pet gas through, they won’t let me return it now either. Money wasted for me, think i’ll stick to the little burners that screw in to the canister

  • @davidcann6021
    @davidcann6021 2 года назад

    That looks to be the exact same design as the OEX but in different colours? I almost bought one of them off aliexpress but at the time the OEX in Go Outdoors was cheaper (and I had vouchers :) )

  • @scrum5atk1

    Hi.
    Have you got an msr lowdown?
    Not cheap,but i reckon they make these type of stove more attractive because it wont be as tall,
    I dont know if I would have one of these systems, dont appeal,
    Ive used it with a pocket rocket tho
    Just an idea

    The alpkit brukit is half the price of the jet boil, but better build quality than most of the Ali express / Amazon jet boil clones.

    I have a jetboil but don't get on with it prefer my £20 burner off amazon which sits on floor with gas canister to side, teamed with a crusader kit, gives a low center of gravity, safer for me.

    currently 63 quid on amazon , the jetboil is 124 quid without a pan support which is an extra 19 quid .................so that`s £63 or £143 for essentially the same thing!! hmmmmm i know which one seems like sense to me
