I was a Christian and know first hand how we are told to lie and pretend to convert to Islam. Why? So we can leave the religion and bring things like that guy did. Why? To make it look bad and not credible. That is why I left. Also, after receiving a masters in world religions, I came to know the truth. After seeking it sincerely and turning my face to God and asking him to guide me to wherever the truth was. I studied, sat with various religious figures, read all holy books, I converted to Islam. Alhamdulillah.

I watched the Abu Adam video.. the way he spoke with emotion plus his title of 16 years Islam. Then I linked what he said with what extreemists in Nigeria do ( cupturing school girls to marry and radicalize) and I thought it made sense. I thought the extremists live true to their book.
Then I came across this guy. I almost passed this as desparate apologetic but somehow he looked composed and his language and mannerism cool so I watched some more. I had to pause and go back to watch Abu Adam's entire video the I came back to watch this video in full.
That's when I saw the sense. You cannot pick a verse out of context and draw emotional conclusions. The passage does not talk about whether it is okay to rape captives or not. It talks about wether it is permissible to marry war captive. And I think the prophet really was very wise in his ruling.
If you decide to take your wife and children to war field ( I wonder why someone would do that) and you are killed and they are taken captive... Would you rather have them abandoned, killed or would you rather have them treated with dignity and even remarried and assimilated in that culture. It is unfortunate extreemists associate with Islam. I love true and faithful muslims. I love true and faithful Jews. I love true and faithful christians. And I love schorlarly minds. I bow to one true and eternal God. The creator and sustainer of all things.

I’m pleased you understand this very well. Plus God gave Muhammad that ruling, as Muhammad always wait for revelations before acting and if he should act beforehand, he’s chastised by God immediately. There’s an example where God said “ and they asked you about the last day, in what position are you ( Muhammad) to give them an answer. Only God directs affairs and he reveals what decision the prophet should take.

aside from assimilating them into the culture, this ruling also give fear factor, making the enemy of Islam hesitant to wage war against muslim, because they either have to reduce their power by not bringing support, or bringing their women and children as support and risking getting them captured by Muslim

So there are 2 possibilities, either Abu Said was in a contract-marriage with the captive (Mut'ah), or
The captive is owned by Abu Said, and In Islam it is clear that A man can have sexual relationship with his slave (With consent of course).
If it is truly rape and it is allowed to rape war captives. Why would he even bother to ask about coitus interruptus?? he can do whatever he want.

@@uthmanhanif6321 and surely all those female prisioners of war were consenting to these "short term marriages"? It was surely their plan to which they had been looking forward for years - to marry their enemies, who fought and maybe killed their husbands and sons? The term "the women that your right hand holds" makes it clear that the Musim men held this women prisioners - plese do not lie to yourself that these female prisioners were consenting to marry their captors (hhave you ever been a prisioner of war? Or your sister, mother?)

    • @deoviteresantein3670
      @deoviteresantein3670 2 года назад

@@uthmanhanif6321 Mohammed is often compared to Moses. But in Christianity, Moses in the Old Testament represents only the basic foundations of morality ("do not steal, do not covet" etc). In the New Testament, instead, the prophet Jesus revealed the full extent of God’s standard of morality, based on the nature of God's love: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person…If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well” Mathew 5:38) Not doing anything harmful to your neighbor is basic morality - but loving your neighbor to the point of sacrificing yourself for his or her needs (as Jesus did sacrificing himself for humanity) is a major leap ahead for morality: The New Testament teaches to love your enemies ("If your enemy is hungry, feed him” Romans 12:20 “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you” Luke 6:27) Mohammed taught instead to take your enemies prisoners or kill them (or marry “temporarily” their wives (?) as it is commanded in the many "verses of the sword" in the Quran, such as Sura 5:33. When God’s enemies came for him, Jesus told his disciples: "put up your sword" (Mathew 26:52) and never held a sword. Mohammed instead told his disciples: "take up your sword" (Sura 2:190) and took up the sword himself. Christianity during its first 3 centuries spread and conquered the Roman empire only through preaching. Islam instead during its first 3 centuries conquered the Roman empire through the sword. The Christian military conquests like the Crusades were against Jesus' teaching and example, and are therefore today condemned as historical and theological errors by Christians - just like Muslims consider an error anything against Mohamed’s teaching or example. The Crusades were also against the examples of Christs first disciples and founders of the Church (Peter or Paul were Christianity's "rightly guided caliphs", if you will ☺) and so again are condemned as an error because they deviate from the apostle's teaching in the Bible. Muslim military conquests instead are not considered and error, since they follow the teaching and example of Mohammed and his first disciples like Abu Bakr, Omar, Usman - who all led military conquests. Christians have asked forgiveness of victims to their past violence. Has any Muslim asked forgiveness of victims of their past violence? Christian missionaries in the past like Patrick, Boniface, Anskar, Gregory and hundreds more up to more recent history (like nuns, medical missionaries) went among the the "barbarians" and infidel peoples preaching and serving their needs by founding orphanages, leprosaries, hospitals - and often dying as martyrs while serving their killers. Are there any historical parallels of Muslim missionaries doing the same service among infidel peoples? Where are in history the hospitals, orphanages, leprosaries built abroad among infidels by Muslims? Rather, the treatment for the infidels exemplified by Mohammed and early disciples was basically military conquest (Muslims are only now founding hospitals etc abroad in lands not ruled by Muslims, following Christ’s and his disciples’ example - certainly not Mohammed’s or his companion's example. So, indeed Mohammed can be compared to Moses - a prophet who taught basic morality to a savage people. But in comparison to Christ, Mohammed is an involution - for the highest morality in the Quran is a step backward to the Old Testament's basic "an eye for an eye" and, though proclaiming that God is compassionate, misses the teaching and example of God's higher love that is expounded in the New Testament, which complements and supersedes the basic justice of "an eye for an eye" taught in the Old Testament - and which have lead thousands of Jesus'' followers to offer their lives in service and martyrdom among infidels - not while fighting against them, but while serving them.

So I suppose some people need background here on this event.
Those who know me, will have seen me discussing some of his claims about 7 months ago, and so they will know I've dealt with him before and have experience with him.
Ismaeel had a lot of problems when it came to understanding Islam, and became very combative when disagreed with. For sometime, when he first joined Islam he became a hardcore Salafi. He spent many years in this understanding of Islam before getting burnt out and by making a 180 degree change. He then became an extreme Sufi, follow a completely different set of teachings, principles and beliefs. He found himself doing the same as he did when he was a Salafi, by arguing and debating people he viewed as following the wrong Islam.
It's important to note that he has had no formal training in Islam and so every time he jumped from one group to another, with each group vastly different from the other, he became less grounded in Islam and more grounded in argumentation. Finally, he also burnt himself out in being a Sufi and became a Qur'an-only follower. This however, was very short lived. Since I sort of know the history of the Qur'an and its manuscript tradition, I was able to explain how and why he was wrong. At that point in time he fundamentally did not grasp what a harf was, or what a qira'ah was. Yet he insisted on arguing about the topic.
Shortly after our public discussion he quit Facebook for a few months. When he returned, he began posting about Judaism and the problems he had with some Islamic beliefs. He seemed to indicate that he was combining bits and bobs from Islam and Judaism, thus falling out of Islam and creating a personal religion of some sort. He followed through on these ideas and whilel still identifying with monotheism, finally made the jump outside of Islam altogether recently.
So what has happened was not unexpected, it is not something that suddenly occurred, he has always had difficulty grounding himself in Islam and he jumped from one sect to another, time and time again. Finally, after being banned from his local Masjid and being ostracized from his community due to his extreme swings in beliefs and his manner of obstinate argumentation, he's finally publicly come out as leaving Islam. It's a foregone conclusion that this would have happened due to his previous behavioural patterns and when confronted, he usually ran to the excuse he'd studied Islam for X number of years.
Whatever faith he joins next, he'll jump from one sect to another. It just seems like he prefers his own religion rather than following an already established one. Reminds me of this ayah of the Qur'an:
"Indeed those who believe, then disbelieve and then again believe, then again disbelieve, and go further in their disbelief - Allah will never forgive them, nor ever guide them to the path." - 4:137.
    Regards,
    Br. Ijaz

    Want to know something amusing?
People claim that they are wise, and on the right path, but when they watch videos like this, they get hateful. Even at the face of evidence, reason and logic, they deny it, and turn their backs. They are afraid of the truth, and they hate how right this person in the video is. Why?
Because they fear that they have now one less reason to hate Islam. And so the story goes, the more they listen to actual scholars and learned people of Islam, the less and less they have to hate about Islam. In the end they stand there, dumbfounded, realizing that they were ignorant all along. But before this happens, they feel foolish, and people hate to feel foolish and betrayed (by their churches, or what have you), so they go in denial, and start hating Islam even more.
Then again, to ignorance are many layers, and you need to peel off quite a few to even use your reasoning to begin with. Most people will not watch this entire video, and even if they do, they wont believe anything they hear from the man, as if the evidence is less trustworthy depending on whom it comes from. However, the evidence is there for them to see, clear as day, if they care to know the truth, that is.
This is not the sign of an honest and wise person. The wise and honest person would have been intrigued by this video, and start to expand his mind by learning more, and most importantly he would say "Maybe I was wrong about Islam". But the ignorant will never say such a thing.

      1) Just implicit? Are you forgetting the hadith about Muhammad's men coming to him regarding "azl" with the "excellent Arab women" captives? Where Muhammad assured his men they don't have to take the precaution of using coitus interruptus? Is that not an EXPLICIT permission to rape? You are REALLY dancing around and playing lawyer games if you don't admit this is PERMISSION to rape captives. What? Because is is not SPELLED OUT anywhere that they "may rape captive women"? His men went to Muhammad for PERMISSION and he said "don't worry about it, what Allah has decreed will be".
      2) Don't give me this crap about a single instance and "context". You know as well as I that the captive women were divvied up after virtually every conquest. Banu Qurayza, Banu Mustaliq, Kaybar, etc.
Plus, if this truly was a special case and not a blanket permission for the future, don't you think all-knowing Allah would have SPECIFIED this and made sure future Muslims don't take it as a general guideline? The radicals would say YOU are ascribing to Allah fallibility in this regard.
3)What? You counter these "implicit" permission by saying they don't hold up if they are contradicted by explicit commands to NOT rape in the Qur'an, but you fail to PROVIDE any! You IMPLY that there is a proscription against raping captives in the Qur'an, but of course none exists. All there is there is instructions on how to treat slaves, NOT any rules about whether or not you can rape them. And if you don't TELL a slave owner he can't rape his "right-hand possession", only a fool would say he was not allowed to. A slave must do as her master commands, right?
      4) Did you just try to argue that these Qur'anic verses and sahih hadith accounts are to be ignored, since they are in conflict with the writings of early classical Islamic scholars? Did you just try to make that argument, when you and I know full well which sources trump which in this regard? You know damn well that no "scholar's interpretation" can supersede these sources, and you would dismiss such arguments in a second if they went against your thesis.
Weak arguments, and likely just taqiyya.

I grew up in a non religious household. I've always believed in God but never cared for religion. I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist which ultimately led me to study Christianity which is a long story in itself but I want to keep this brief as possible. While researching I noticed many inconsistencies and always had a issue with the holy Trinity that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Fast forward to yesterday after years of not following any religion, I took the Shahada alone in my room. I've always believed in one God, Allah. and after learning just a little bit about Islam becoming a Muslim just feels right to me. I really don't know much about it but as I learn my beliefs are being confirmed. I did a little research before taking the Shahada and the fact that the Quran cannot be contradicted played a big part for me, since I've always had my own issues with the idea of Jesus being the son of god and other inconsistencies in the bible which the Quran seems to contextualise. The fact that the words in the Quran are exactly what Muhammad (praise be upon him) heard from Allah and that message has been passed down in perfect translation from teacher to teacher for over 1400 years is proof of the divine. And personally what I think it comes down to is the worshipping of idols when there is only one God worthy of worshiping, Allah. And praise be to the prophet Muhammad. I will continue to learn about Islam and try to become a better Muslim as I grow and mature I also plan to go to a mosque and do the Shahada with a Imam and make it official. Please leave any video links for information about Islam for beginners. Alhamdulillah.

      Let me get this straight:
He repeated the other man’s argument and he quoted Tafsir Ibn Kathir Vol 2 p422, which explains that Muslim men were not happy to have sex with the captive women because they already had living husbands. Then Muhammad revealed Q4:24 which says you can have sex with married captive women even if their husbands are alive. (around 3min 46 seconds into this video) “consequently we had sexual relations with these women” while their husbands were still alive.
(Around the 7 minute mark) He says:
“This argument is an implicit argument... there are actually no explicit statements to say that any female war captive was ever raped by any Muslim man...
Women who were war captives were protected from this behaviour and they were NEVER raped.”
That’s an astonishing ridiculous claim, especially given the quote from Ibn Kathir which he just read which explicitly said they had sex with the women even though they were married and their husbands were still living.
He is making the ludicrous assertion that all those women had consensual sex with the Muslim men...?!?!?!?!?
Then - his ‘historical’ evidence he presents (around 10 minutes into the video) was written hundreds of years after the events - by a Muslim.
      That’s not credible evidence.
I was willing to give the video a chance, but that’s pathetic.
      -------
      -------
Finally - he creates a different problem for Islam:
He says all the women were given back.
I really doubt that happened, but let’s say it did: what that means is that he is saying Allah and the Quran teach that fornication and adultery with captive married women is ok, that you can have consensual sex with captive married women while their husbands are alive, and then return the women afterwards.
So he is saying the Quran teaches a type of free love military prostitution/sex trade.
He didn’t solved the problem of immoral teaching in the Quran.

This still does not answer why it was permissible in that moment to have "sexual relations" even if the women were consenting and the slave women and children they captured were now married under Islam, imagine now being the brothers and fathers they have come back in their shame for their woman and children back, Muhmmed was like "yea alright guys let them all go" and that woman goes back to her Father, her brother, her uncle, potentially her husband, with another mans splooge between her legs. This is blatant sexual immorality, please can someone answer this I don't care if it was under the guise of "marriage" this is not morally okay to have "sexual relations" with another mans daughter, another mans sister another mans wife and then send her back like nothing happened. So now if you come and tell me "well they asked for them back" would that mean then if they didn't ask those woman are just "yours" now because you won a war? Cause as shown in the video that Muhammed frees slaves as evidence, why didn't Muhammed just free them before the "sexual relations" why did he wait until he was asked, why does he not stay consistent one day he instantly frees slave the next he frees when he is asked or can use them in a hostage situation "your woman and children or 1million dollars". I mean no disrespect I'm just curious Please can someone help answer.

There is actually a response video by Dr Haitham talaat and the response to this if the captive were to be atheist the Muslim should never touch her but as a Christian or a Jewish woman they can be a right hand position but if they are okay with it if not then they would write down a book (divorce) and the man would pay referendum and help her financially but if the woman was consent and decided to convert then the marriage is legitimate another thing to bare in mind if she was promised or married then she wouldn't be touched and even after wars Muslims could release those captives out of generosity but if they were Muslim captives in the other side then an exchange would happen and as well the fact that if you rape a right hand position this means you will punished by adultery because the right position didn't consent to this and especially if promised or married and even if logically the man who sees a Jewish - Christmas woman with a child that always sticks with her he should immediately know she is married to someone and he should never be near her but if she was promised to someone and didn't obey her terms of relationship it's her fault because she didn't provide the soldier who had her as a right hand position this information nor even told him it's like me not saying "I am not single"in times of war and especially you don't know any information about this right hand position you have so the Jewish - Christian captive should tell them and the Muslim man that she is promised or either married but if she didn't even say that then it's her fault if on propose it's literally her fault and I don't know how it will be unintentional.

As a non muslim and, to be honest, occasional critic of Islam based on what I read from quran, hadiths and what information is available etc and with the lack of decent responses from many muslims online (either on comments, or even through some sites like islamhq), it's great to see someone here go in detail defending Islam and using rational arguments and logic to counter points made. I haven't seen all the video as yet, but will certainly do so and look forward to other videos the author has made to get a counter balance to the huge volume of anti islamic material available.
I'm not saying I'll be swayed one way or the other, just saying happy to have found someone who can provide counter arguments in a measured and steady manner.
I would be particularly interested if the author here reviews key videos from Acts17Apologetics (David Wood), who makes very convincing videoes (at least to the likes of myself who are not that detail in knowledge of Islam) and present his counter arguments.

It wasn't necessarily called 'Islam' at the time; to have Islam as your Deen (way of life - not just 'a religion') is to believe in *One* God, i.e. *Monotheism*, which has been from the beginning of time. With your logic (and I assume you're Christian) Adam and Eve were not Christians as Judaism 'got there first'. Muslims have to believe in the previous Holy scriptures (before they were changed) including the Torah and the Gospel (not the Bible), and all the previous prophets (peace be upon them) - including Jesus (peace be upon him) up to Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It is extremely normal to have questions , but create a foundation that you don't doubt your religion until you truly tried everything to know the answer. Even i didn't know how to answer this guy but i knew that he was wrong by just saying islam allows rape, i did lack knowledge there but in the same time knew that i do lack it so Always humble your self and consider that it is your fault that you misunderstood the issue. So be objective all the time, collect information and decide by knowledge not by lack of knowledge. Islam encourage you to ask so that you learn and be confident and feel peace inside you. Never act arrogance by ignoring information. Always have good intentions and always ask for ALLAH guide and do what pleases him and you will be fine :D.

So the guy who converted had a bad method to learn islam. He didn't learn it's history or the definitions/concepts of quran ..etc , so imagine how many issues he have with islam because of his fault. Imagine how many things he misunderstood without realising it.
That's why it is important to humble our selfs and always keep our learning state on even after our decisions. If he is truly honest he will check his questions in a better method from now on.

***** Exactly, you don't even need more explanation from hadith when it comes to rape. Quran in this issue is very clear, even if there is one hadith that contradict with quran it is immediately thrown out or ignored. If we keep learning quran again and again things become more clear and connected. Every time i start reading quran again i learn something new that i didn't understand before or even realise it is there, every time i humble my self i grow more.

Since in the tafsir of Ibn-Kathir, that they eventually had sexual relation. So, the question is, Is there any problem with Ibn-Kathir's translation into English from Arabic? Is the tafsir of Ibn-Kathir is not reliable in itself? Or, the sexual relation with consent outside of marriage, which is an adultery, even with whom your right hand possesses is permissible?

Why don't you believe the Lord Jesus Christ when he says in the Bible, he is the Son of God? The Bible says he is the Son of God, the Quran which came 700 YEARS AFTER the Bible says he is not. His arguments are lame, and he can barely make any sense. This guy is just lying through both sides of his mouth, typical Taqiyya and first line of defense of Islam: deny the obvious facts with a poker face. That on the one hand. On the other hand, this guy asks for a single example of a rape by any Muslim in the times of Mohammed. Well, he forgot the rape of Safiyya (Safia), which Mohammed himself perpetrated right after killing her husband and her male relatives. Sure Mohammed married the poor woman before having sex with her, and, because of that marriage, Muslim scholars will claim that it was all legal and OK. But you must ask yourselves: what woman would have consenting sex with the man that killed her husband and all her male relatives just a few hours before? The forced marriage is clearly irrelevant. That was rape, pure and simple. You can read the story with references here: www.danielpipes.org/comments/52750

The captives of Utas had pagan husbands, the companions of Muhammad, who were embarrassed to have sex with them, because this was considered an ugly act among the Arabs for someone to have sex with captive woman while her husband was alive.....
Secondly, why did you not mention that Muhammad Why did you not mention that Muhammad offered the Otas delegation either to take with them their money that the Muslims plundered, or to take their women and children whom the Muslims enslaved, meaning that Muhammad did not set them free because of his humanity, because he made them choose them between the money and their women and childreen.....

it bothered me a brother I once loved to watch went and denounced Islam. He was such a wonderful man. Thank allahu subhana wa ta alah that I found a brother that responded and really helped. When I saw that video I was so sad because I was like watching his other recent videos. He says he doesn't agree with what the prophet would have done to Muslims today that don't go to pray on Fridays at the mosques and what kind of a creator would make him a prophet and I'm here like HES DONE SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS AND YOUR DISMISSING HIS AUTHENTICITY BECAUSE OF WHAT HE WOULD SUPPOSEDLY DO TO MUSLIMS TODAY. Then belittling the lord for appointing him... I thought to myself. Of all the wonderful experiences you've had because of this but because of what you think he would have done had he been alive today you turn your back on the messenger and the creator? Simply because you don't agree with one thing, that if you think about has actually nothing to do with following the path itself. Even if someone did disagree in that manner.... I see very few points in Islam that I disagree. no points actually. but he has a few. not too many. enough to separate him from Allah apparently butwhile with those few issues. think of how many issues he saw in regular every day life of the people who don't fear god. Like I see so much wrong with so much going on today... I'm sure as a Muslim he would have agreed. now take those few points that he doesn't grasp yet honestly and trade them for all those points of why you brought Islam into your life. He traded his wealth for error... Make dua for him please.

Most people today don't understand the purpose of marriage in the ancient world. It was an imperfect solution to protect women because of their unequal social standing. If they didn't have a husband (protector), they would end up destitute and probable resort to prostitution. This was a common strategy back then to prevent the decline of society.
Marriage wasn't about love, and it didn't always lead to sex right away if at all. That's why many ancient religions used to permit marriage of young women and polygamy. It was a male dominated society on a global scale, and women had no means of supporting themselves.
This is a decent rebuttal, but it doesn't address why women need this protection in the first place. Shouldn't Muhammad just say respect women and stop treating them like property if he was a true prophet of god? Just my thoughts.

    • @catsandmusic4635
      @catsandmusic4635 5 лет назад

Don't forget Muhammad ﷺ came at a time where this patriachal society was a problem, so he had to deal with the problem. Simply saying "respect women" wouldn't solve the problem, he was realistic, and took a gradualistic approach to solving this issue as with many issues.

I am not a Muslim but I noticed that I cannot talk about muslims, islam or Mohammed in even a neutral manner around christians, and them just, relax and not get defensive about the subject. Like it's required to come in blaspheming someone elses beliefs for them to accept the conversation, and it's very annoying because it makes me think they are simply afraid, and experiencing some serious cognitive dissonance, they insist on being intellectually dishonest, they act like I'm playing the advocate for the literal devil and his hoards, but demonstrate that they know very little about it. I don't know what to do about that but it frustrates me that I "have to" agree with lies around people who insist that they only deal in truth. One thing is ordering his soldiers what to do vs what Mohammed actually did. You gave a very dishonest answer, you said all women/captives were returned to their families, that is false, look at Safiyas example, Mohammed had her husband killed and he forced her as wife. He could only marry her if her husband was dead so he had to kill him. Tho you don't call it rape, those captive women where coerced to have sex, how can anyone under supreme authority feel they have the power to say no? The worst thing Mohammed did was to marry a 6yo there is no rebuttal for that, all rebuttals go down the trash when Mohammed could have taken her as a daughter. Following his other actions of stealing his adopted son's wife, it is evident Mohammed was driven by lust.

I think you are missing the point all together. You have to ask permission to the women to have sex with them, not to any so-called god nor self-proclaimed prophet, if you don't ask women for permission it isn't consensual sex therefore it's rape. Also, you shouldn't kidnap, enslave, nor murder people. All in all is quite dodgy.

This brother has given a concise response to the writer who claimed or give reason for leaving Islam. He has deliberately maligned the religion of Islam. He fails to realize that their are over a billion adherents to the faith of Islam and this can be offensive to Muslims and their love for their Creator and the Prophet pbuh.
Thank you brother for your clarification. I trust that the writer wHo had claimed and opted out of Islam has done a service to Islam. He is an apostate and punishment is doomed for him in the hereafter.

The men I mentioned to you were subjected to violence aswell. They could've reacted with violence too but they didnt. Violence is a matter of choice.
Muhammad in his early days acted like a peacful man but when his followers grew to the point he could form a millitia he became the ruthless man we know.

I REALLY want to have this discussion but it seems you have a few things wrong:
Muhammad followers did not simply grow in number and them simply start attacking people.
He was boycotted for years and starved
He was INVITED to be the leader of a city and accepted
He ESCAPED assassination when he left to his new city
      You sound like a christian.
      Are you a pacifist?
      there is a popular saying
"peace is more than the absence of war"
      do you believe this?
      Can someone "fight" for peace?
does self defense make one a man of violence?
Muhammad in his early days not "act" like a peaceful man he was a peaceful man.
The men you mentioned above to me were not HEADS OF STATE. Muhammad was President and commander in chief of his nation. And his nation was HATED and ATTACKED
As president and commander in chief, what is Obama's job should the united states come under attack?
What would MLK do if he were in Obama's shoes?
      be non violent?
      NO!
They would ensure the safety of their people.
That means meeting the enemy in battle.
Or signing treaties and ending conflicts.
We live in the real world
Again, I think you're being unfair to history.
Muhammad was neither a saint nor a sword wielding demon. He was a man and should be understood as such.

    • @wzupppp

sign4888 muhammads armies went out to conquer lands which did not belong to them. They invaded europe, levant and north africa while none of them, the romans nor persians ever attacked or threatened them.
He was not a peacful man but very brutal and contradicting. In my opinion he made up revelations to fit his own interests but that left aside. Ill give you one example of his brutality: chopping the heads off hundreds of jewish men and boys with his own bare hands on a single day. That makes isis seem soft. There are countless of similar brutal acts you can find in hadith.
Again, I dont see a prophet here but a ruthless warlord. But a succesful one.
And no im not a christian.

      We're talking about Muhammad here.
His greatest accomplishment was taking over his home city that he was at war with and uniting the Arabs.
Muhammad died shortly after hostilities began with the Romans
      You said:
the romans nor persians ever attacked or threatened them?
      What are you reading?
      so you think
Muhammad was hostile with the Romans, one of the World powers at the time? Because what? he thought it was fun?
      Does that make sense?
There are narrations in islamic sources that say muhammad sent messages to them and they killed his messengers. This in ancient times as well as today was seen as an obvious declaration of war!
      did he make up revelations?
      that's besides the point.
Ah the famous hundreds of Jews beheaded.
Apparently now Muhammad did this all by himself? without getting tired? because he's that savage? Oh yeah, lets bury them in the marketplace because that makes sense.
Its obvious that this story is highly embellished. The savagery is embellished. but who would embellish such a story?
      Muhammad, or his followers?
the blood thirsty Muhammad would surely have boasted of his annihilation of these people in his book
      but all we find is:
"some you killed and some you took captive"
why is there no mention of all the great slaughter? Since when has 600 to 900 killed people referred to as "some"?
The first place we find this referenced is in Ibn Ishaq and he has two descendants of the same Jewish tribe as his source years after the fact.
Does this make any sense to you?
And you introduced his story without saying there are reports of treachery from the Jewish side which began the entire thing.

Also, the hadith in Kitabl Al Maghazi is weak. The hadith in Sunan Al Kubra is also weak. So the evidence you brought are all weak and cannot be used as evidence.

Since the verse was related in the context of whom you can marry, I naturally thought it was just saying that war captives are okay to marry (but not until they give up paganism). Still, in the back of my mind was a doubt, which has been relieved by your research. So far, you are the only person on RUclips, who has produced the citations that your conclusions are based on. We converts can't read Arabic in the way you can and most books are not translated into English. Even if they were translated, not everyone is careful or knowledgeable to do it correctly. They may even say or imply the opposite of what they want to say, leaving converts further confused. So thank you for discussing this topic with thoroughness and grace. I wish there were many more refutations like this. It's a shame, and detrimental to Islam, that more "scholars" don't research thoroughly and then have the guts to put it out there.

The only difference is that Coran was never changed and every one can study and search for such things in the Coran => the Coran do not contain such unethical and inhuman ideas.

I’m currently an Muslim struggling with her faith, and are looking for reasons to stay. Now here are some issues I have with these arguments being made, any opinions are welcomed.
    1. Just because the sheer reason of these rules not being enforced (as the commentator claims that no evidence are found of slave women being r*ped) doesn’t mean that this rule is fair or moral. On the contrary, I can even make a point of it being immoral to a point where people of the age weren’t even incline to follow it. This is one of the ways that Muslims solidify their beliefs, by saying that because something isn’t enforced therefore it is moral, which is logically very flawed. Similar arguments are made with examples from wife beating to having up to four wives, or even child marriages.
    2. If this verse contradicts with other parts of the Hadith or even the Quran, doesn’t it mean that either a)one of these verse must be false b)the Hadith or even the Quran contradicts itself and therefore is flawed?
I am in no way claiming to know the religion the best. But I am struggling to maintain my faith after seeing some verses and arguments made by the Quran and Hadith. If anyone is reading this, your response will be highly appreciated.

All the things you explain indeed make Muhammad OK, or even maybe progressive, FOR A 7TH CENTURY WARLORD. We cannot hold this type of behaviour as "perfect for all eternity" as he enshrined himself to be by divine law. He was a man of his time, a somewhat ethical (although he did say and apply "war is deceit") warmongering bedouin who started an amazingly influential empire. But don't be mad at non-muslims for not worshipping him as anything beyond this. We can respect and admire Alexander the great, Gengis Khan and the like (and most westerners do admire Salahuddin). If they had declared themselves bearers of the ultimate revelation from God, the ultimate example of human behaviour, we'd have the same problems that we have today with terrorism, jihad and internal fitna within the Umma.
You're still excusing Muhammad's acts as those of one who basically treated his slaves well. But if you agree that slavery in today's world is wrong and should be abolished, doesn't it mean that you should also beleive that Muhammad should have clearly and definitively abolished slavery when setting the definitive, perfect example of human behavior?

    • @davlmt

About "rape", in order to explain how this is a "crime" in Islam which carries "serious punishment", you quote Imam Malik's interpretation of the sharia ruling which is that if a man rapes a free woman he must pay a dowry (the "bride price") to the parents, and if if he rapes a slave girl he must pay "whatever has been detracted from her value". The sha'afi school says that raping another guy slave girl can be OK if he didn't know she belonged to someone else ("ignorance"!!), if he did it knowingly then he must pay a fine + have the penalty for zina (fornication) applied to him. In every case it is clear that what is punished is NOT the offense done to the girl herself (the woman's suffering for having sexual relations forced onto her is never even considered) but the offense done to the honor of her family, or to the property of her owners, or to Islamic law (illegal sexual intercourse or zina). Why must the fine be paid to the parents, or to the slave owner to compensate for the loss of his property value? Because there is not even such a thing as "rape" in Islamic law and culture. The willingness of the woman to engage or not in sexual acts with a man is in fact NEVER really considered in Islamic law. The woman's worth in only quantified relatively to her family's honor or her master's property value. In any case she's nothing but a passive object. This is why a wife MUST respond to her husband's "calls to the bed" and it is lawful to beat her if she refuses.

More details on rape in Maliki fiq :
The scattered presentation of the legal doctrine on rape reveals the hybrid character with which Maliki fuqaha conceived of this crime. The perpetration of a rape involves the crime of illegal sexual intercourse (zina ). To prove zina either four upright witnesses who have seen the act in its most intimate details, or the confession of the perpetrator, or pregnancy are required. Zina is punished with a statutory sanction (hadd) consisting of stoning to death when the culprit is a muhsan and one hundred slashes plus one year of banishment for the non-muhsan. Slaves, independently whether they have been married or not, receive half the punishment established for non-muhsans, i.e.fifty slashes.
If the crime cannot be proved with any of the aforementioned requirements and the claimant cannot present circumstantial evidence (discussed later), the accusation is considered tantamount to qadhf (calumny or false accusation of illegal sexual intercourse) the punishment of which consists of eighty slashes. Moreover, if the claimant of rape who does not succeed in substantiating her accusation becomes pregnant, she is subject to the punishment for zina, her claim being considered implicit confession to the crime.
Rape, as Malikis conceive of it, may thus bring about financial and penal liability for the accused and and penal liability for the claimant. These liabilities vary, depending on whether the perpetrator is a Muslim or a dhimmi, free or slave, muhsan or non-muhsan ,child or adult and of good or bad reputation.
As regards the victim, there is a distinction between the free and the slave, thechild and the adult, the one who is in her right mind and the onewho is deranged, the one who was awaken at the moment of theassault and the one who was asleep, and the victim of good and bad reputation.

    • @davlmt
      @davlmt 8 лет назад +1

According to Malik, when a pregnant woman claims that herpregnancy is the result of a rape, “the practice among us”, i.e.Medinans, (al-amrainda-na) is to punish her with the statutory sanction for zina, unless she has witnesses to the rape or she appeared bleeding if she was a virgin, or cried and asked for help from the people or something similar to that. However, if she can establish that she was forced, the rapist must pay her the proper bride price if she is free, virgin or non-virgin. If she is a slave, he must pay a compensation equivalent to the decrease that the rape has produced in her worth. In Yahyà b. Yahyà’s transmission of the Muwatta no mention is made to sources of Malik’s doctrine other than the practice of the people of Medina, Malik’s main endeavour being precisely to promote Medinan practice to the level of authoritative and binding source of law.

    • @davlmt

It is thus clear that what you muslims call the "law of god" as opposed to "man-made laws" is largely the product of a time and a place, and not so different than the laws practiced by the people of Medina before Muhammad received the revelation. Trying to apply these 7th century arab laws to the whole world in the 21th century because they are "from God" is absolute insanity.
