The main reason for using BiDi #transceivers (or any form of #wdm) is scarcity of fibre cable and the cost of deploying additional fibre is very high. As fibre scarcity rarely is a challenge within #datacenters, Bidi Transceivers usually aren’t used. However, the situation can be different when talking about data center interconnect. But, even here probably #DWDM will make more sense as it provides much more flexibility and much higher bandwidth. One of the few applications of BiDi Transceivers within data centers I see is if the cable ducts are full and cannot hold anymore fibre. I hope this answers your question.
