I use your bioshock playthroughs as a sort of "companion" while I am also playing bioshock. Its kind of like experiencing a game with a friend. (Also it's neat to see how our playstyles differ). I'm on 2 right now, playing and watching you play it as well. Very excited for this one!!
I also wanted to add that I watched your SOMA playthrough as well (didn't play it - fuck that noise) and it was life changing. I feel like we've been through an emotional experience together lol. Between that and your bioshock vids, you've earned a dedicated fan in me :) Keep it up!
That's the best thing I can hope for in this community. Welcome :)
Same! It’s so helpful too!
~ 1:02:51, Similar to "a gaggle of geese" or "a pride of lions", "a murder of crows" is actually the rather brutal sounding collective name for a group of crows. The game devs obviously came across that and decided to have some fun with it. I played 'Infinite' before Bioshock 2 because someone gave me a working PS3 and the first game I found for it was BI. Having played it, I then thought I had better play BS2 as well, which I did in stages while watching through your playthrough. They are all great games.
The game takes place in 1912 which is before World War 1. Also the two people you keep running into seem to act as the Gman of this story. Except they are funny and have quips. Also I think you are free to bring things up that you remember from ten years ago. Chances are most of us are here since we know the game already. And don't worry many things in the game still confuse us to this day despite it being ten years
26:32 Having recently replayed BioShock 1 and 2, I found it amusing that the Preacher here that Baptized Booker quoted the first Splicer that you encountered whilst still in the bathysphere in BioShock 1.
__"Is it someone new?!?"__ 🤔
So nice to see you playing this game. This is possibly my favorite in the Bioshock series so I’m definitely excited to watch you play.
Loving the connections to real life in this one so far (as tragic as they may be) - looking forward more to how it connects to Rapture :)
I have to say this is my all time favorite game. I've watched you play through the series so I've been excited to see you go through Infinite.
I love the bioshock series
Really enjoyed your Bioshock 2 playthrough. Looking forward to this. Keep going hope you blow up soon
Very new to your channel in the past few weeks and have found that I really enjoy replaying some of my favourite games along with you. Replayed resi evil 4, bioshock 1 and bioshock 2 while watching your let's plays so it'll be great to do it with Infinite
Welcome and glad your enjoying playing alongside me! I wonder how different your playstyle is to mine.
@@LiquidBlitzPlays for bioshock 1 and 2 we were polar opposites haha I was a wrench build for 1 and gun nut for 2 compared to your run n gunning for 1 and drill playthrough for 2.
I highly recommend you play 2 as a full blown drilling maniac. So much fun.
Very excited for this Series, I’ve heard nothing but great thing’s about this Game. Columbia look’s beautiful! I liked the mini game tutorial that was clever, enjoyed the Episode! 🤗
Yessss, I was hoping you'd play this for us despite having already played it in the past.
This is near where im from! Just random fact.
Worth visiting for the extreme variety of color during autumn.
The moisture of the ocean keeps are temperature pretty stable; which gives us extremely vibrant fire like foliage. (Us and northern japan are positioned properly for peak foliage.)
Fun episode again. Those 3 statue dudes i believe were all slave owners, Lincoln would of been seen as the enemy due to making slaves owning illegal
Guess we know what kind of person Comstock is then hehe.
Washington, Jefferson and Franklin were three of the "Founding Fathers" who, among other things, signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Abraham Lincoln wasn't even born until 1809. Thus, he could never be one of the "Founders."
Comstock's weird Baptist sect made American Exceptionalism part of their theology, elevating those three to the level of saints. Lincoln came later, and Comstock's interpretation of his role in history...varies, let's say, from ours.
One thing you missed that can be hard to spot due to the timing of how one explores an area, is the Lutece statue. It starts off as Robert for a few seconds then kind of shimmers green and changes to Rosalind. I wonder if you remember their thing?
I didn't. Then I read your comment and I had a distant flash of some previous moment in time hehe. I still don't know but I know that you are referencing something that I once knew if that makes sense. We shall see!
You have no clue how long I've been waiting for you to play this game thank youuuu
Fuck yes! I was really hoping you'd play this!
Don't forget using possession on every single ventor machine 😊
It's good to be back in Columbia , with you. It'll be good to process the story , using my more "mature" brain.
iam a bit late here. since you played it in the past, but ignored the story, i find this style with discussing points which come to your mind very good. ive seen the blinds quite often now from different YTs, so its maybe not blind here, but has still a lot of interesting points to talk about and also reactions. a little like light game/story analysis after you played also the other bioshocks and recognize or build storyelement bridges.
So far it's the only non-blind playthrough on this channel. Still forgotten/don't know most of it which helps. Everything else is blind. Although I do plan to possibly do Last of Us Part 1, and God of War 2018 also non-blind because I want to do Part 2, and Ragnarok fully blind and feels odd to not play through the others for all to see, even though they aren't blind hehe. Hope your enjoying this so far :)
If you don't know the major twist if you don't remember what Elizabeth is to you, Hint her name is not Elizabeth even. The big twist is the end, DLC is a major plot twist the biggest in the series. Bigger then being Andrew Ryan's son.
Shock Jockey = Electro bolt
Devils Kiss = Incinerate
Possession = New
Bucking Bronco = Cyclone
Murder of Crows = Bee Swarm
Bear in mind though even the similar ones don't work exactly the same as the Bioshock versions.
One of my strongest memories of Infinite is sending a swarm of crows into a room and it distracts every single enemy. Super powerful and I'm looking forward to using it again!
Possession= hypnotism
@@gregdrowned9873 possession isn't quite the same as any power in Rapture though...that is what i meant...where as the other four are direct reflections of Rapture plasmids. Possession is a combination of hypnotism and compensating for the fact you can't hack in Columbia.
I reckon anyone that's watching a playthrough and hasn't played it themselves is not concerned about spoilers.
Veni, vidi Vici! I came, I saw, I conquered! Supposedly quoted from Alexander the Great!
Veni, vidi, visa! I came, I saw, I shopped! -Chiblee from Lesuire Suit Larry 6: Shape-up or Slip Out. Lol
Personally I'd be interested in seeing your reaction to things you do know about already as a second play through because I know so few LPers who do that. I liked when you talked about how you realized things/predicted things as you were blind playing through the other Bioshocks, so it would be similar just with more insight since you've played through before. IDK, in general it's been fun watching you play.
It's so funny to me you recognized Troy Baker in the NPC when he plays Booker himself ahaha
I'm sure you'll figure this out or another comment says it as well but the tutorial thing you missed after getting the skyhook just tells you that when baddies have skulls over their heads you can execute them with a melee attack. (The Skyhook)
Here we go boyo
48:45 I don't know for Latin but "Fin" means "end" in French
You should listen to the songs though because often they do not match the time period. For example, the barbershop quartet is singing "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. It's part of the little hints they are giving you throughout the story. I'm replaying it myself, currently, for the sake of the story, and, luckily, I don't remember the ending. I'm watching your video in case I missed something, myself. For that matter, I may replay the game again after my current replay because the narrative is superb. Like you, the first time I played it (when it came out), I paid zero attention to the story. I am intrigued by the name of the prophet and wonder if he is a reference to Anthony Comstock, the guy responsible for some archaic US laws we still have that prohibit the mailing "indecent, lewd, or lascivious" materials. Comstock Act. Comstock Laws. Although rarely enforced, since abortion medication is included in the late 1800s list of "materials", recent news insinuates the Supreme Court might consider those laws as it pertains to our current situation in the US.
Infinite is set in 1912, you are Booker Dewitt a man who is half white and half native american, prior to the events of this game you fought in the Wounded Knee Massacre, one of the biggest racial cleansing events of native Americans in US history...let's just say that seriously effected Booker.
sofia lamb wasn't religious, she USED religion and cultism to influence people and manipulate them...make them feel like they all had a common calling, a common purpose, that whole Rapture Family thing but she actually had an altruist view ironically not too different from Andrew Ryan (despite the fact they disagreed). Sofia lamb's only real desire was to have her daughter...Eleanor become the next ruler of Rapture...she used her genius and manipulation to unite people not to dissimilar from people like Hitler. But she didn't BELIEVE in that religion or the things she preached...she just used it because it made people flock to her.
Comstock is a whole other kettle of fish...as you'll soon find out.
The baptized still beneath the water being both sinner and saint is both a hint at later plot reveals as well as a refrence to superposition/Schrodinger's cat. You will find metaphysics walking the line of philosophy as a common theme in this game. You can argue it isn't as good as the first one but you will find the writing still captures the wit and deep social commentary of the earlier games fairly well, if its given the chance.
My favourite BioShock game. You will never guess where the story goes, and I think you'll have a LOT of fun with this one!
It is interesting , let me ask was this one the first one you played? Im asking because most of the community agree that the first one is the best , I myself prefer the second, and thats because I played 2 first , then 1 and then infinity. My guess is that the first one YOU PLAY will always be the most magical , but who knows...
@@mcc2211 Yeah, this is the first one I beat. Then I went backwards through the first and second.
@@mcc2211 I have also noticed that trend. Bioshock 2 was my first, (although I didn't fully finish it until after beating 1), and now it's my favorite one.
Late on the first episode, but regardless, thank you for the great commentary!
For me, it nicely catches the balance between sophisticated, personalized, and entertaining.
Your efforts on the technical aspects of these videos are also appreciated, though perhaps not often mentioned here. :) All is just as good, as I could ever, as a viewer, hope it to be.
About your current subscriber count;
To me, two thousand seems actually quite a lot as soon as you consider, that these people are much like yourself in terms of their preferences and so on.. Great to "be" here.
And finally, a game suggestion. Sorry about this; I see that you have your hands full, but I can't keep myself from doing this:
So did you like SOMA 2015? I think, for a piece of digital media, its entertainment value along different aspects that contribute to its quality far surpasses many other commonly recognizable and well-quoted games. It just turned out so well; made with heart, mind, and proper resources.
That masterpiece sure sits firmly in the god tier when it comes to that specific category of games.
And so; let's move on to the presently reigning "king" of another genre:
PREY 2017. it's a so-called "immersive simulation" (Something a stretch like Bioshock / System Shock). Without spoiling you in any way (and please, there are a lot of muted yet profound moments throughout that game, so do not spoil it for yourself! Just trust me.) I'll say that the game as a whole is simply unmatched. The story keeps you intrigued, while the gameplay keeps you immersed. There are a good amount of twists and pulls a head with this distinct experience. It most definitely would be best complimented by a perceptive player like yourself. And still, as combat exists in modern games, you indeed are allowed to make mistakes (die for example) and do retries (load an older save), so the game is still not so serious that it would "take the fun out of itself".
NOTE:
If you do end up playing Prey, then be warned; something's up with the in-game audio. The music, speech, and effects don't mix just right. Fix that worked for me; Adjust all the in-game audio sliders to maximum, and then adjust the system audio on the desktop according to your preference. Blind normalization, yeah, not ideal. Also; it'd be a real shame, if you missed out on the music of that game due to copyright issues and such. But what can we do.
Perhaps you are so lucky/unlucky, that you have already experienced this venture? Well, if so, my other recommendation should be voiced. Only briefly:
So, in 1994 a game called System Shock (the forefather of Bioshock and other modern narrative-driven action-RPG games) was published and happened to revolutionize gaming standards a 'tiny' bit. Without going deeper, the game carries an epic legacy, one which many players today won't even mostly recognize, and maybe understandably so. Well, it might have been quite a game since a remake of it has been in the works for many years now. After numerous delays, it begins to near its completion. And though I obviously should not mislead you by quoting something that was never even said, (metaphorically; since I haven't played the game, apart from the great ~90min free demo) I would still like to make you aware of its nearing presence. Despite possibly not living up to the insane expectations, it could turn out notably epic for a first-timer.
So there you have it. And in summary:
{
if Prey2017.notFamiliar():
spoilers.skip()
# At a fitting date, if you are interested:
Prey2017.play()
if SystemShock2023.notFamiliar():
SystemShock2023.CheckItOut()
}
# Thank you for reading, good charms.
Glad you enjoy my stuff :) thanks for the kind words and feedback!
I haven't played/seen Prey or System Shock. I own Prey somewhere I believe and I think I streamed literally like 20 minutes a number of years ago but had to stop for reasons I can't remember and I have truly 0 knowledge/memory of it. It might as well be 100% blind.
I appreciate the programming language that looks suspiciously like Python :)
@@LiquidBlitzPlays Ideal circumstance!
In terms of things looking small on your screen I have the same issue. I believe it's that way if you have the FOV slider on the maximum setting.
I'll have a check. It might be the 1440p resolution making UI elements smaller than intended.
I'm not sure but it likely wasn't a singularly universal shift with the meaning of the word "gay." Nowaday that happens much faster and more more uniformly thanks to the internet but terms used to evolve regionally. You guys and other non-U.S., English speaking countries still sometimes use "dumb" in its meaning for someone who can produce vocal sound but not verbal speech. We in the U.S. now tend to lump that with the inaccurate term "mute" which means verbally silent because the slang terminology for dumb to mean stupid has become more common. It's still present in our culture thansk to English Canadian influence like its use in the "The Trumpet of the Swan" children's book and "Pinball Wizard" but most U.S. Americans still don't recognize the other meaning.
Most people in the US do not have a good grasp of geography for England either so don't feel bad. If you ever come to the US Kentucky is middle-eastern and is not NY or California. ;)
I left a comment about changing subtitles but it might have been caught by the automod
What did you say?
@@LiquidBlitzPlays there's a settings file for Infinite in Documents\My Games\Bioshock Infinite\Xgame\config\xui.ini if you change the line to MaxResolutionUpScale=0.0 to something like 7.0 it will scale up the subtitles, I think the max is 15.0
Lincoln felt slavery was unjust...take a look at the racism in this city...i think you might know why Lincoln went bye bye.
Lincoln also wasn't a founder. He was elected over half a century after the founding of America (in 1860) haha.
Legit learning a lot about American history from this and I'm one episode in!
Good Night, Irene written in 1948 not a big spoiler even though your probably done by time i watched your playthrough lol.
Here we goo ❤❤
Double rolling pin 🤣 scroll my dude 😃
Did you noticed Columbia flag have only one star, America flag have 50 stars for every state, that means Columbia have only one state.
Reminded me of the Texas state flag.
ohh youve played it before i see, but did you get to the burial at sea dlc?
I did not :) looking forward to it!
I know it's an old vid but.....AD-means ur a specialty modified human or as the Columbians say it "The False Shepard"
You'll learn things later on but it's basically metaphysics. They are above Maine right now, which is what the map you saw was confirming. Columbia is fixated in space by special particles that achor it between realities. They can manipulate where the particles exist within three dimensional space and thus cause Columbia to appear to fly, through this manipulation and the earth's own natural movement. Think of it kind of like the dark matter engine in Futurama where it moves the entire universe around the ship to go faster than it normally would be able to. It isn't as much flying or levitating as it is just existing in a space it normally wouldn't be able to thanks to the laws of physics. Columbia also has to have the abilty to move of the earth's own natural movements would cause the anchored city to get left behind in outer space. It is implied that Columbia does also have some kind of set movement pattern to allow pilgrams as well. The map you saw tracks its possible "flight" paths across the US but both wind up at Maine where the lighthouse is and you have an opportunity to ascend.
I saw your comment in a forum because of the RUclips decompression. I record in all kinds of resolution like 1080 and 4k and mix them to one video on another channel. Your quality looks perfect. Whats are your settings? I render often to 2k and high Bitrate. It looks decent on 1080 on YT but not as good as it could I feel like.
I record in 1440p exclusively these days. I think I upgraded to it before episode 2 of this playthrough so only episode 1 is 1080p. Things look way better now at 2k. As for my settings, I've been honing it all for a long time since I'm so sensitive to quality (audio included). The general stuff is I record the game with HEVC (H265) rather than 4, using the GPU. Export settings on the final edit are much the same, HEVC which achieves better quality at lower bitrates. Rendering takes very long but I've gotten used to it as part of my schedule. I tend to render overnight. 1440p HEVC, VBR 60/100 Mbps bitrate, Main 10, 5.2, High, Good quality.
@@LiquidBlitzPlays thanks! I screenshoted these and will apply next time. You record with obs i guess and edit in DaVinci?
OBS and Adobe Premiere. I should add, those were the export settings of the final edit in Adobe. The OBS settings for recording are HEVC, Rate Control = CQP @ 18, Slower preset, High Quality tuning, Two Passes, main profile. This gives enormous files for long episodes but I'm used to it now. A raw Dark Souls 3/4 hour episode is over 300 GB lol.
@@LiquidBlitzPlays thanks again, i hope that fixxes it for me :)
How you achieved the VP09 codec for this 1080p video? Which settings did u use?
When you start getting a certain amount of views on average you typically start getting vp9 every video regardless of resolution :)
Did you happen to play the DLC before as well? If not, I'm sure you will really enjoy them, especially now you've played the previous ones
Not played the DLC before, or seen them.
@@LiquidBlitzPlays Something to look forward to :)
What AD on Buker hand means is main spoiler of the game
Perfect example of how you forget things over time. I have literally no idea what AD stands for or means. Looking forward to learning again :P
I hope you are going to play RE4 Remake on your channel.
I saw your introduction upon detailing you already played this. But to fully clarify, did you play the DLC back then? Not inculding Clash in the Clouds, since that's just a combat arena mode. I'm curious since the vanilla game doesn't provide any context as to how it directly connects to BioShock 1. It'll be very interesting to see a blind take on Burial at Sea 1 and 2 if that's the case.
As for your request at how you're aware of what's going to happen and how the related commentary should be handled, I honestly don't feel it's a problem to acknowledge what's already known. Viewers will watch this for your takes, probably already having played through themselves. I've done numerous commentary on games I've already beaten, including all three BioShock entries. I always speak as if anyone tuning in is on the same page as I am. But that's just my suggestion.
I have never seen or played the DLC's, looking forward to them!
Personally i would be like to know what you remember and what not, i mean saying it
If you see a skull above enemies heads > you can finish them
Press N then green Arrow on the floor will appear to show the way to main mission
Personally for me it's the weakest game in series in own way, not so Bioshocky, but still good game with good plot
But those shity subtitles are so small, but thanks for dates, too bad that in first two games there weren't them
Anyway, good luck!
The Xbox 360 is a masterpiece who agrees
would you consider playing hogwarts legacy? its an amazingly fun game where you can spend hours playing!! or maybe youre not too into the harry potter stuff?
I will :) I kind of wanted the price to drop a little I'll be honest.
@@LiquidBlitzPlays gotcha, just to be honest tho, its well WORTH the price. its honestly that good. :) i also like paying less for games but some games you kinda wanna give all your money too cause how good they are, if its too much you could always go pirate.
If you played it from release, you didnt played dlc's? I ask because they continue main story.
I have never seen the DLC's.
@@LiquidBlitzPlaysthen you are in for a treat!
