G.M. Danielson works as a professional voice actor and sound engineer, producing boutique audiobook content with a nod to the great radio dramas of the past. Danielson's pet project, G.M. Danielson’s Horror Vault began with a singular vision: to offer listeners and aesthetes of horror an unusually personalized experience. A strong believer in the social component of business, Danielson spends a great portion of his efforts replying and corresponding with his many fans and supporters. In a world where meaningful social interaction is an ever-changing - and, to some, a declining - art form, G.M. Danielson’s Horror Vault stands as a rare gem among many glass substitutes.

This comment is going to be long with too many words... G.M. I've listened to almost every narration you have done ( that I know about, I am saving a few for rainy days). If you asked me to point out one I didn't care for I could NOT do it. So instead of commenting on every reading that "I loved it" just know that I did! I will save my comments for the ones that I adore so much that I just sit stunned and struggle for the words to explain how it made me feel. This ONE! Oh this one... With the drums in the background and the voice you use ; the only word that comes to mind is intoxicating. I listen to it often. As with all Lovecraft I am now experiencing, I understand it on a deeper level each time I listen. I apoligize for the length of this comment, I just wanted to describe how I feel when I hear Nyarlathotep. I still can't put into words the depths it takes me to. *groans* :)

@@kjgfgzfxchhg You know how people look at the Kim family in North Korea. Pretty similar to how older civilisations like Egypt functioned. The King was a God. You had to worship him. You had to mourn him when he died, loudly. All those who oppose him are executed. Most of the wealth is spent on his family; just look at the Pyramids and the Tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Tutankhamun's tomb was dug up 102 years ago and all the artifacts within it still haven't been fully analysed and documented even with an entire team constantly working on it for nearly as long; he didn't even have a noteworthy reign, died before even reaching 20 before he could do anything and his tomb is still so lavesh that we still haven't finished analysing it.

Evidently Lovecraft ripped this little gem directly from a nightmare...and it reads like a nightmare. The sense of societal collapse, fear slowly growing greater among the populace for vague reasons, nature itself shifting and warping. Everyone is beginning to feel that an immense and unimaginable evil is slowly taking hold of reality. Into this atmosphere walks Nyarlathotep, scientist, preacher, psychologist, and as everyone suspects something far, far worse. I love it. Beautiful narration and ambient pacing too!

I was curious, though, Robert .E Howard--a contemporary of Lovecraft--who was responsible for creating Conan, the Barbarian--does a lot of horror stories as well. Have you ever thought about reading one of those?

Reading the story and given the societal confusion stated in the story, I can't help but think that it tells the story of figures that seem to come out of nowhere in such times. They give themselves otherworldly providence and their words pointed at a direction-less people of whom rhe insane prophecies or heresies hold greater power, preforming acts never seen by those to give themselves greater power over the mind's of the masses and confirming their professed authority. And even those who are defiant or are otherwise not convinced by this figure's acts or words still find themselves influenced by said figures against their own self-interest, leading tp the doom of all within rhe figure's space.

I'm doing ok, things are difficult right now so forced to live stream a lot more than make dedicated videos for the channel. BTW, what happened to your channel avatar?

      Horror Readings by G.M. Danielson
The images that ChillySunshine finds on Google to use as thumbnails for episodes of CBS Radio Mystery Theater are at times positively INSPIRED, just like the artwork for this story.

@@TheTalemaster I made no claim to being knowledgeable. I said we all "know" it, because we all "know" it, instinctively. Because we are living it. Anyone who isn't trying to be distracted is aware of this.

He really didn't do anything malign in this story, he travelled the world in the guise of a black man, holding lectures and scientific demonstrations, educating those who wish to learn.
Its not his fault the truth is abhorrent to the selfish men of the world.
