    So glad I watched this before ordering my new cam! I was going to buy the DR750-2CH LTE and Power Magic Pro but didn't realise the X series has built-in power management. As the LTE still requires a PMP and is a lot larger than I realised, I am opting for the DR750X-2CH + CM100LTE

    Great channel. Think these top range companies are Missing a Trick ! Surely you would Make the camera unit as small as possible (less obtrusive in your nice car you are looking after) and then put the electronics in a ‘small box’ to go under the seat or near the fuse / power ! Why not do this. Please pass it on. Seems like a no brainer ! I would happily pay good money for that type.
    Will likely just buy the Garmin Mini 2 until they come up with something next gen.

    I have been researching for 6+ hours it seems. Every MFG seems to have a different sort of deal breaker. From very poor reviews of overheating, connectivity, poor/glitchy function, to complicated and costly accessories needing to be purchased just to run a front and rear camera (garmin). And these Blackvues, certainly designed for and mostly written or reviewed by those that spend their entire life in the concrete jungles. It would be nice to see a 750 or 900 without al the cloud mess.

    Wish they would make the 900 series with all the goodies now but with a different place for the Micro sd card. My bud had his car broken in to and they stole his cam....and the sd card was there with it.. No he didn't have cloud but still not everyone can pay for cloud service or an extra sim service to run the hotspot.. Just have an alternate place in the LTE box for the evidence that we can hide under the dash or seat.. OH..an thanks for the reviews on radars. I got the R7 3 days ago and the wife went to Georgia yesterday.. She said it saved her butt 4 times.. That paid for itself already...

    Looks good. I guess the NEXT level to improve the monitoring in general is to have 360 view rather than front/back cameras... This way you're able to see all sides (left & right like external side doors)... Also, part of the NEXT level will be personal cloud (not hosted on payed subscription) but rather onto your own purchased cloud...

    Vortex, you have been my go-to person for Blackvue review since you were so thorough. I was hoping you could answer a question for me. Massachusetts laws state that cars can't have anything attached to the windshield. Unfortunately, doesn't make sense since Boston has the EZ pass that is mounted on the windshield; allowing cars to pass through state owned toll booths without stopping and waiting in line. LOL! QUESTION: Can the DR900x plus be mounted on the dashboard and have the same quality in it's performance? Is it physically capable of being mounted on the dashboard? Does the mount itself allow to be adjusted to make up for the point of view from the dashboard? I really wanted this device since it got my geekgirl going! I absolutely want this to work, but unfortunately Massachusetts is making it difficult.

I had an older one which couldn't handle the simple higher temps inside the car - at first summer temps these cameras cacked out completely or the cameras went blurry and turned images pink. And was a KNOWN problem. So $400 trash. When I tried to get a warranty replacement, they bailed on me and left me hanging. Yeah, they say they will stand behind you, but you'll need a pair of binoculars to see them. If they haven't figured the overheating problem yet, DO NOT BUY! Why is the 900x uses the LTE module and supposedly is the latest version versus the 750 dash, has the LTE SIM card is integrated in the camera so no module, why would one get the external module version aka 900x, instead of getting the 750? Weird

      I don’t see a huge difference in video duality and I think is wayyy better when the SIM card it’s integrated in the camera, IF THEY HAD A LONGER CABLE CONECTED TO A MODULE WHERE YOU CAN INSERT THE SIM CARD AND MEMORY CARD WHERE ALL THE INFO AND RECORDING GO THAT WOULD BE WAY BETTER BECAUSE WHEN IF SOME ONE STEALS IT FROM YOU YOU GOT NOTHING , that’s what happened to me the 900s was stolen and contacted BlackVue and they don’t have any measures to rescue the footage, to have a module might be good but if it’s got longer cable that way you can hide that module and if they steal the dash I guess bad luck but at least you would have all video recording

    Very expensive to maintain. In addition of you having to pay $10-$20 for Data, you will have to pay BlackVue for Cloud service which, I believe, costs $10. After all of this, the worst case scenario, which is someone breaking into your car and stealing the DashCam, can still occur and you won’t be able to view the footage because it takes the DashCam a lot of time to upload the footage.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  3 года назад

      Sure there's an added cost, like getting an extra data plan for an Apple Watch. Blackvue's cloud service is free unless you start adding multiple cameras. Uploading to the cloud in case of a breakin won't guarantee that you'll get the footage if the burglar rips it off super quick, but chances are you'll still get something. Better to have an opportunity to get the footage than not at all, yes? Either way, it's not for everyone and it's up to you to decide if you feel it's worth the cost or not. Totally fine either way.

    • @DeusEx.Machina
      @DeusEx.Machina 3 года назад +1

      @@VortexRadar Yeah, but the Apple Watch has a $10 unlimited LTE plan (at least my plan), and you don’t have to pay Apple to unlock its functionality. As for the breaking in, I have had my car broken into two times while having the SyncUP drive installed and nothing was uploaded, also the police told me that they couldn’t file a theft report because I was in an underground parking lot 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️, so I found the whole thing useless. Finally, BlackVue makes it nearly impossible to have your own quirky solution, they prevent your phone from connecting to the internet at the same time it’s connected to the DashCam.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  3 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear about your break-ins! That sucks. Strange about the theft report thing too. I've had my car broken into in a parking garage (in Canada) and was able to file a police report. The phone connectivity thing is weird, yeah, and so I don't use that. Their service certainly isn't perfect and could be better. I suppose it's only when you try some other cloud options that you realize how much better Blackvue's is by comparison. Nevertheless though, it could use improvement too.

      @@VortexRadar Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately with Dashcams, they kinda need to be built perfect to accommodate all situations. Waiting for perfection is an exercise in frustration. I see this with dashcams, radar detectors, and everything else. I was actually super frustrated with all of this for a while and have started to accept that these are smaller companies that don’t have the budget for R&D that companies like Apple and Samsung do. I really really wish they did, but they don’t.

      Yikes! So sorry to hear that!
      The 750 LTE would be the easiest to use since you can put a SIM card right in it for the cloud stuff. geni.us/BBMC-DR750-2CH-LTEPlus
      I personally use the DR900X Plus for 4K up front. geni.us/DR900X-2CH-Plus To add the cloud features, I plug in the CM100LTE. geni.us/CM100LTE
      Having it record while parked is gonna be important of course so I’d get a big battery like this: geni.us/PowerCell8 That’ll record for about a day on a full charge.
      For longer parked record time, you can add in expansion batteries. geni.us/CellinkNeoExpansion
      A setup like this should help you stay protected and let you know if anything happens again. Hopefully not!

      I put a matte black vinyl strip on my windshield at the very top, it protects the camera from the shade, also hides the camera too.. plus looks sporty to me
      You can also go to a an auto tint shop and put a dark window tint strip on your top windshield, it really helps keeping the cams cool

      @@IntegraDIY thanks for the reply! Actually, I have my entire front windshield tinted with 45 XPEL Prime Plus. Excellent heat and UV rejection. I just worry about putting my sun shade up, sandwiching the camera between the windsh6 and the shade. This creates a mini reflective oven I worry will damage the camera.
      If this easily removed from the windshield mount? Maybe I can just take it down everyday while I'm at work.

    • @IntegraDIY
      @IntegraDIY 3 года назад +1

      @@feeltharave try another sun shade that doesn’t reflect so much? If the camera is getting full reflection of the window shade, and it’s still in the sun, it’ll heat up really quickly.
      You should still try a 5% window tint strip at the top, it’ll still keep the area cool, and you can adjust the camera to have full field of view and still be completely out of the sun.
      Also, I have rain visors on my side door windows, it allows me to keep the windows cracked about 1” to help keep the cabin of the car cooler. But if your area where you park isn’t very safe, I wouldn’t recommend this..but it does work, and that’s if you like rain visors on the doors (or if your car has them available)
