    100% also with the benefit of not having to pay top dollar for upgraded aftermarket parts. And also an on par upgrade for subtle upgrades like a 2.7t swap. Keep up the great content. 👍

      Even buying everything brand new on Rockauto this is a cheap upgrade and totally worth it.

    This was the first mod I did to my b6 avant. It really does make a noticeable difference. Also, if you ever need parts, hit us up at northern autobahn dismantlers in Cambridge. We part out vw and audi.

    Did this upgrade on my B6 Avant and like you said, the difference is night / day. I only did the front, so I guess I'll be heading back to the yard for rear parts.

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 10 месяцев назад

      There isn't a massive difference in the rear calipers, still an upgrade for sure, but might not be worth the expense unless you're due for some fresh rear calipers anyway.

      Is it really that big of a difference? Thinking about changing mine
      Does the brake lines diameter match ?
      Stock brakes on 17’’ really suck

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 7 месяцев назад

      @escaravelhocheiodelume it’s a huge difference in feel compared to B6 brakes. The brake lines are completely interchangeable as far as I know.

      @@PBGarage In feeling there is a big difference but noticeable enough in endurance or power?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 5 месяцев назад +1

      @ptibab73 power yes, endurance, no idea. Haven’t had the car on track before or since. So I couldn’t say for sure. But the bigger rotors should cool faster if nothing else. And the bigger calipers should take longer to heat soak.

    Hello! Can you tell me if I can use these B7 brakes on the audi b5 ?which is the b7 that is used the v6 brakes?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage Месяц назад

      As I understand it, the front B6/B7 caliper brackets have different bolt spacing as compared to B5 and so can’t be used unless you swap over the whole aluminum upright.

  • @sidewayza4825
    @sidewayza4825 7 месяцев назад +1

    So you’d have to buy the front spindles for the 1.8ts to do this swap?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 7 месяцев назад

      Nope, the calipers mount to the front spindles exactly the same no matter what you use from B6/B7. The rear caliper brackets have to match the rotors, so if you’re getting B7 rear rotors and calipers you just have to make sure you also have the caliper brackets from a B7.

      @@PBGarage cool how about for the b6 s4 caliper swap on the b6 a4 1.8t? Aren’t the rotors and carriers a little bit bigger than the b7?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 7 месяцев назад

      @sidewayza4825 yeah the S4 stuff definitely is bigger, but they’re a lot harder to find and more expensive than B7 stuff.

    Do you need bigger rims after that?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 7 месяцев назад +1

      Anything 17” and up will clear. Some B6 1.8T came with 15” and up, and 3.0 B6 were 16” and up. But all the B7s came with 17” and up. There may be some exceptions but generally as long as you’re 17” or bigger you’ll be fine.

      @@PBGarage yeah, the rust in Ireland is nowhere near as bad. Must be a nightmare to minimise rust over in Canada.

      @dilloncatterson7320 some places are worse than others and some cars get it worse than others. B8/B9 A4s seem to be particularly bad. A lot of them for sale now look even worse than my wagon and some don’t even have rockers anymore. We might have to start bringing stuff in from southern USA if we want to keep driving the old stuff.

      @dilloncatterson7320 our “nice” cars only get driven May to October to avoid the road salt and keep them nice.
