Ok go this one and it's a great little hiking knife, what more to say other than it's made with CPM's CPM-3V, vanadium enhanced stainless steel. Very comfortable because instead of a standard Leuku wooden grip we have a similar shaped grip made of Santoprene, this polymer like Forprene and Kraton, so very comfortable and good with wet slimy hands!
being a powder metallurgical steel knife blade is supposed to yield superior performance to similar non-PM steels, time will tell. My only grip is (at the moment still being tested) that benchmade state the HRC is in the range of 60-62. This is according to Crucible not the HRC which will achieve optimal wear resistance and hardness, ie optimal for CPM-3V. So I'm not sure why benchmade chose the higher end of the HRC range for CPM-3V as at the higher HRC values there is a marked decrease according to CPM in wear resistance. Let's see in 6 months time how this blade fares with my usage, because if that's true then it defeats the purpose of using 3V, which is supposed to be optimal around 58-60 according to Crucible's data. Now maybe Benchmade know something different? or this is a typo on their web page??? benchmade are you reading this?

Benchmade is among the best production knives in the world. Their folders have a very strong axis lock. I am no fan of that handle, but it might be good for heavy water use. How did you find the sheath? I want to take my knife from the sheath without having to look at it and then reinsert it likewise. Too many sheaths are not easy to reinsert.
I have a "Bushmaster 162," and it is among my favorite field knives. I have never had any knife in 3V show signs of corrosion. Maybe it is the heat treat. 3V is a tough steel and fair edge retention steel. I always sharpen my Benchmade fixed blade upon arrival, which takes bit of work. There is a lifetime warranty with Benchmade also.
Yes I've handled a few of their folders. The sheath is a tight fit mainly because he rubber handle drags against the leather. I think they used the insert of plastic so you don't need to be inserting it exactly but i guess with all leather scabbard one must be careful not to cut, or continually cut into the welt bit of leather.
Great knife. Somehow when I purchased mine it came as 1st Production Run 1 of 700

Bought this knife. Highly disappointed. Used 2x fethersticking and dull as a butter knife. Sent for warranty and they wanted 90$.
Will never buy benchmade again if not made right through warranty
That so so disappointing to hear. Poor heat treatment. Although according to CPM and their data, benchmade overdi it on the HRC for this steel which is recommended by CPM.
