    Sweetheart, my heart is actually breaking for you. I'm in the Cleveland area, and I've been through ALL their jail/rehab programs throughout my 20+ yr addiction to hardcore drugs. I'm happy to say on Sept 1st I'll have 10 years clean and sober and I was a VERY hard case and never thought I would ever get it and that I would die an addict and that scared the shyt out of me. I failed again and again, time after time, Court case after court case until i finally couldn't bear living another day in shyt addiction and so I tried one last time before I said if I didn't get it that time, I would off myself and do the world a favor... feeling sorry for myself like an ass. I white knuckled the first 3 yrs with no meds for my mental health , no MAT program, no help, no NOTHING except for the little victory of laying my head on an actual pillow every night, exhausted from having to work at the same place I did when I was 16, making crap wages, walking miles to work if I couldnt afford the bus, with no one who wanted to talk to me or help at all due to my careless and selfish actions in addiction. I had to learn how to accept it ALL if I were going to make it and simultaneously live in so much fear worrying about everything except for the things I needed to worry about because I was so lost and I was full of horrible Trauma from my childhood and the rest of my life that I could not stop hearing my life screaming in my ears day after day after day. It wasn't until I was able to truly accept it and realize that this is what I had to deal with and no matter what I wanted it was not going to manifest ever if I didn't truly put everything into it. I knew if I didn't I would end up back out on the street and I probably would not make it back this time considering how dangerous the city is and what I had to do to keep going from day to day but slowly but surely I became less of a victim and more of a Survivor and I can help people today. Today I own my own business and my own condo and I did it all on my own with no help and it's the way I would have it as I have learned so much about myself and how fearful I was of everything. I'm still learning a lot even 10 years later, but I at least have enough love for myself today to know that I deserve better, and so do you, honey. If you want to reach out to me, please respond to my message, and I will give you a way to get ahold of me. Anything you need to talk about or that you may need, I will help you in any way that I can. You can do this, but you have to really put yourself down to the level that is no longer acceptable to you before you will come back up. We are just stubborn people, and it seems to work out that way for the lot of us. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded response. Your message really touched me, and I wanted to reach out to you. Many prayers 🙏 to you. Remember, you are worth the very best life can offer, and your kids deserve that too! ❤K

    It’s a shame. So many of these stories with the common thread of horrible parenting with alcohol and drugs involved at a young age. Then plenty of bad choices that snowball. Unfortunately, the sad truth is the end result is either jail or death.

    • @otherside305
      @otherside305  4 месяца назад +17

      So far almost everyone I've met struggling with addiction has had some form of childhood trauma. The end result isn't always jail or death. People do recover. The first person I interviewed on my channel is 2 years sober now and if she can do it anyone can do it. There are many success stories out there!

    • @Mark-hn5bm
      @Mark-hn5bm 4 месяца назад +2

      I commend your efforts to get these stories out to so there can be more public awareness. The fact that some of these people can make the difficult changes and commitment to transform their lives is awesome. Unfortunately and sadly, the exception. The tragedy really begins with couples becoming parents who aren’t ready for the responsibility. Ultimately the children end up suffering the consequences and that’s unacceptable. Keep up the excellent work

    Raised by addicts, now an addict parent herself. She should have been removed from her parents care to break the cycle. The systems in place to protect vulnerable children failed and look at the result. Not just on her now (and her poor brother) but her innocent child. Prevention is key, people and police need to not turn a blind eye when a child is being hurt or neglected by their parents.

    What I have seen on this series is that addiction is a trip to hell and the hold on you changes you. You have to crawl yourself out of hell but the leash to your soul is still there. It is a hook in your soul that doesn't let go. I see why the 12 step programs when one is totally committed to it has to be your new life. What a tragedy for all these people. The truth is to never start. It is fight to regain your sanity again....I wish them all courage.

I feel like people's whose primary addiction is opiates have different issues than those with alcoholism as a primary. Not that one is better or worse than the other, I just think the issues that drive the addiction are different.

    So sorry. Miss looks my age 63) man,she’s been thru it, I’ve been thru some crap myself too. But nothing like this poor soul.
    If she truly is bipolar, she needs to first get off illicit drugs. In order to get diagnosed properly. Even if, say it’s in her family,or what she googled” about bipolar”which you never should take your symptoms to Mr Google for a diagnosis of any mental illness.
    That’s all I say about this I’m backed by my Dr saying these words…..I am in no way judging this woman doing drugs and drink,bc I did formerly too.
    But I’m sober fr illicit drugs and drink many yrs (15-20 years ) I’m glad you had some freedom .
    ❤ I hope if you can get sober and then get properly diagnosed with whatever listen I suffered self medicating ….i realized from analysis from therapy ( with my psychiatrist’) but I am 63 yrs old. I got my Bipolar 2 diagnosis not until proper age 40:years.
    Though I’d been in therapy since age 30 incorrect diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder very close but not there.
    You are just young !
    Whole life ahead of you.
    Please please listen to me I’ve lived a life too full of demons and traumas
    But I vowed to stay strong and sober and keep going.
    But I never actually had kids’ get that?
    If you cannot afford a therapist after your sober.
    Do it online
    My other thoughts on sobriety is one more time
    LADY YOU MUST DO IT FOR
    YOURSELF AND ONLY YOURSELF
    Not for a man
    Or even another chick.
    I’m deeply empathetic for your losses
    Think this maybe part of why you keep slipping …
    Maybe you never processed the fact your deaths happened in reality bc you entered back
    Into your drug bubble
    I’ve been overwhelmed by many losses too.
    But they are different from yours.
    Never think sober life will be boring,
    The only way you will ever get rid of your demons is SOBRIETY
    Rest I put in your hands ❤ best wishes to you luv.

      The problem is not drugs, it is caused by a difficult environment. Do you think their parents wanted them to be like them? They probably grew up in a similar way.
      And when she has children and her daughter or son does an interview, you will say why did they have such parents. It's a cycle, your chances in life are decided at birth.

    My mom didnthe same thing bkicked me out and then call police to arrest me. I stayed with questionable person(friends dads house). She was an alcoholic/drug abuser and mental illness problems like bipolar and depression. I also was given up at 16/17 to my godmother out of state. I ruined that a year after by drinking and what not. I understand everything now but being a kid and being abused really shapes your future. I became addicted to opiates in my 20s but im clean from them now fot 12 years. Its possible to pick yourself up. There is hope Sammy ❤ good luck my dear

    I help and deal with homeless in Aus. I use to feel for them but don’t anymore. The difference between others that grow up in terrible situations is choices they all have choices they choose to get on the drugs, they choose the stupid situations they put themselves in.
    I have no sympathy thou I still help to a certain point

    You can train to be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, online and there are lots of need based full scholarships. They even let people do the training when they’re still using, if they can pull it off. You just have to have a year sober, to get a job. I already paid a crazy amount of money to a university, or I would just do that! It’s a paid position. She would be great at that, because of everything she’s been through. That’s horrible that they took her child away, because she asked for help. Do that if someone is an abusive or neglectful parent, and doesn’t accept help. Period. Sammy, check into that training…it’s different from a lot of programs. It’s got a really accepting philosophy. I think you would be excited to be a part of something like that. I would, but I have to finish school. I’m 6.5 years into recovery. You can do it!

    Eric, you need to start a non-profit Corp. You can get a grant from counties and states. Then get a house and make it into a homeless shelter. Social Services will pay you weekly to house these women. You have to hire social workers to help get these women services and get them into counseling and detox if needed. You can make a difference and save lives. Even if you only have rooms for 5 people. Those are 5 lives you save till they move on to their own places.

    • @AcidGubba
      @AcidGubba Месяц назад

      Why don't you do that? I always find it fascinating how people say someone has to help her. As part of society you could do something to help families who are struggling. But I think that doesn't really matter to many people. Or do you see people from the middle class saying that they should be supported more?

      I don't think she wants her son with her mother. But it is preferable to foster care where she would not be able to check in on him. And it will be easier for her to get custody if/when she gets clean.

    I remember like 15 years ago I was in Miami and I went to a night club downtown after I decided to walk back to my room and wound up lost in overtown. I admit I was terrified. I bumped into these 2 beautiful white girls they looked so nieve and I told them they needed to get out of there even tried scaring them saying these people were trying to kill me but they stayed and I ran. I hope they turned out ok
