The lyrics from the book are way stronger and hit way harder. I mean this one is good but can't be compared to "when you think of me I hope it ruins rock 'n roll"
So true couldn’t agree more! The lyrics in the book were just amazing i don’t understand why they changed everything😢 Edited: honestly i do wish they would have included at least some of the original lyrics, but i’ve been listening to this album so much, it’s addictive. I’m in love with it❤️
personally i don't really mind, wouldn't be suprised if they had to change a little from other songs as well. so long as it sounds good and captures the essence of it 🤷🏽♀️
this song isn't the worst but the lyrics from the book were just SO SO SO good 😫 like "when you look at her take a stock of what you took from me" and "regret me regretfully" and "when you think of me I hope it ruins rock 'n' roll" and "when you hear my voice remember you ruined me whole" and "one day, you'll regret it ill make sure of it before I go" like aaaahhh they are just so so good 😭😭😭
but it was more like poetry in the book. tjr wasn’t a songwriter and i assume the lyrics just didn’t fit the song🤷♀️ regardless, the song is great imo
Ok I am beyond excited but the AURORA cover as described in the book was epic! Why didn’t they go with that! Also the “I hope it ruins rock and roll” line was Genius I wished they kept it.
THANK YOU I'm so bummed! The way the Aurora cover was described was so perfect. It captured the tension between them without making it obvious. This cover is absolutely beautiful but it just doesn't have the same mystery and subtlety to it.
I agree with you that the cover described in the book was amazing, but remember that TV Show is a different media than book, different ways to tell a story and some stuff that work in paper not always translates well to what the show runners are trying to tell on screen. So let's keep an open mind and trust that they're making the best adaptation they can.
Shes doing the acting he wanted to do but was forced into stupid sh*t like Kissing Cousins. He would be proud of her! And she can sing, no denying that.
some of these comments are annoying. songwriting is totally different to fiction writing. they can’t just take the original lyrics and put them in a song and have it sound perfect. I guarantee if they did that it wouldn’t be nearly as good as this.
@Houseboat1 she is not a professional songwriter, the pros would take her words and make them into songs, if possible. Obviously this specific song was unable to be adapted from her 'lyrics.' The professionals know what they're doing, I assume.
@Iris You dont have to be a professional song writer to write songs lol. That's kind of why it's so accessible. Also I wonder who these pros are who are redoing this song because the mixing is really bad and the song writing is mid at best. It makes very little sense that these people who worked this are such pros but they were unable to convert some of the more poignant lyrics in the song into a real life song.
@Houseboat1 it is very much reminiscent of very early Fleetwood or rather Buckingham Nicks, with the male/female back and forth like I Don't Wanna Know. Not exactly, since they obviously don't want to be sued by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, , but the homage is there.
can't believe they didn't keep the lines: "And, baby, when you think of me I hope it ruins rock ‘n’ roll" i got chills reading the book when i got to that part
honestly, they’ll probably use that line in a different song, probably a sadder solo one - I honestly feel like a killer line like that needs to be its own hook
Getting emotional hearing Riley’s singing voice for the first time, after her mothers passing. She has the same deep and earthy tones as her mom and it’s chilling to hear now. She lives in her! That’s for sure. ❤️
It sounds to me like Riley has this really neat ring to her voice, and to me at least in this song, her voice is higher than her mom's. Not as woeful as Lisa Marie's. When Riley does the spoken lines, of course she sounds more like her mom. I think Rileys voice is higher and softer most of the time, actually more like her grandmother Priscillas voice.
Ok, I love everything about these snippets from the soundtrack they're giving us. Everything about it sounds like '70s rock. Also, got major chills on this one because Riley's voice is reminiscent of Lisa Marie's on this track.
As a fan of the 1970's California sound I can really appreciate the authenticity of this music. It definitely evokes an era and a feeling. At the same time, it feels very contemporary especially in the lyrics.
I know, I think that era of music will live on forever. It was so good and still is. I can remember many times playing 60's and 70's rock - n - roll music and dancing in the living room with my sister or my cousins or friends. I remember laying in the sun listening to that kind of music too. It brings back good memories. Of course we're always gonna love Elvis' style of music too forever. He was one of a kind. Lisa Marie made her mark on the world too with her music. I wish she was here to celebrate this movie with Riley. Dang it...!
Brings me to the best of the 1960’s❤ born in SF Ca, 1959. I’ve seen a lot . Elvis was my first crush at 5 years old!!! SF music was life telling. And so are you !!!❤
the picture cover has some rumors vibes. I wish the music wasn't so much louder, I wish to hear their voices more cause I really think they have great voices, expecially Riley.

I imagine they used that line for its own song because it’s so good. At least, that’s my hope 😅
the original reads more like poetry though, which makes sense considering it was written by an author. as TJR said herself, she’s not a songwriter.
You try writing a song with those lyrics
personally i don't really mind, wouldn't be suprised if they had to change a little from other songs as well. so long as it sounds good and captures the essence of it 🤷🏽♀️

Maybe the actress didn’t wanna wear a sheer shirt
The fact that they casted Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough in the lead role as Daisy Jones makes it even better
Woww, I didnt even know that!! Thats amazing!
