@@DanielMann oh they knew , and I was not the only one it happened too. But that family is crooked and has lots of connections.... Main guy was actually running for mayor lmao
It's why I stick to shallow water fishing. The "captains" don't know what a diver's float is and that they're supposed to stay away. They'll go check out what the funny flag is.
Indeed. From Australia to Galicia, Tanzania to Indonesia, Lebanon to Italy and so on. The question each spearo should be asking is what am I doing to stop it? Each one in his own corner of the world, obviously.
Wow, heroic. You're good divers, but spearing an octopus is disgusting. You're not on subsistence level. The fish you got were small; there wasn't m much on that reef, and now there's even less. It seems you're visitors to that country, too. Ugh.
@@DanielMann except that for to be any reproduction rate at all, they really need to exist in the first place! no octopus = zero reproduction rate! You are not entitled to kill everything you see in sight!
I’m harvesting for personal consumption in the most sustainable way possible. No by catch, nothing left in the water, no nets, no bait, no pollution. Or is your problem because you think octopus are intelligent and it’s an emotional decision for you, not a factual decision?
LOL, Come one, you're supposed to be an experience diver no? How come no surface indicators you are diving there? Or were you deliberately diving on one of the routes of one of the local ferries, hoping the fishing would be better there because, heck, no one safety conscience would be spearfishing there to suck it dry LOL. Plus why would anyone think Albania is so dangerous, ur in a holiday resort area. And yeah LOL I am a diver and had my share of jet skis and boats up to tankers around me, but you've got to use common sense otherwise it' could be a different kind of video LOL. Interesting waters though! Clearly u have to get out there to find the bigger fish and more fish life.
As you can see in the video I had my float and flag on the surface. The ferries aren't supposed to come so close to shore and it was outside of the tourist season. I've dived there before without any problems. Why would anyone think Albania is dangerous? It has a horrible reputation from such films as Taken and in the UK they are represented as being overly involved in organised crime and the drug trade through the media.
I'm sorry, how can the ferries come into shore without coming close to it? I guess you mean this was a unscheduled or off route ferry trip? I know you said you had been diving there before so i guess you knew or checked the ferry routes beforehand since this is extra important to one on snorkel as apposed to on scuba. As to the danger you indicate I doubt you faced any of that stuff being a diver there in this particular area. Forgetting the movie, there are some places i wouldn't take you to in London LOL. Strangely, your UK gov website lists Albania as ok safety wise but of course that can vary like anywhere. If you weren't looking to get involved with drugs and or stolen car crime then you'd be ok and clearly you were. Re the flag: Don't get me wrong but we all know as divers that even with the flag up it can mean jack to people in boat, bigger boats even worse only because they are looking for other large objects or even staring at their radar of which will definitely not pick out diver's flags on floats-no chance. What kind of boat did you have or did you do a big swim from shore? @@DanielMann
To be honest, these places in Albania used to be greek and many people who live there are greeks. But unfortunately greek governments through the years are absolutely corrupted and they have given these areas to Albania. Keep up the good work Daniel!
I didn’t meet any Greeks when I was there. When did this exchange of land happen? I couldn’t find much information on it online. Borders have been changing since the dawn of time and if you go back far enough I guess these places were also Ottoman, Roman, Byzantine etc.

The greeks are between Saranda and Gjirokastra, a total of 10.000 people. And I really like them because they are all hardworking and good people. That part has nothing to do with the lands though. Guys didnt even care kept going with their boat of tourists.... Few days later i hear the exact same noise and decide to stay down long as possible... Watched the boat go right over me..... Lava tour tw@s
Heavy times! I would have got in contact after the second incident.
@@DanielMann oh they knew , and I was not the only one it happened too. But that family is crooked and has lots of connections.... Main guy was actually running for mayor lmao
Süper video 💯👏👏👏🐠
how can i get intouch with you
If it’s about global trading, don’t.
It's why I stick to shallow water fishing. The "captains" don't know what a diver's float is and that they're supposed to stay away. They'll go check out what the funny flag is.
It can even happen in the shallows. I nearly got hit by a sailboat in Puglia in 2022. Was only diving in 10m.
Γεια μας...
Umm, diver down flag???
On top of the float I took with me. You can see my bright orange float at 4:50.
Sunfish
05:31 another boat going over your head
Yup, you can see it when I surface. I also mention it in the voice over.
If the boats don't kill you then the dynamite fishing will.
Same in Greece!
Indeed. From Australia to Galicia, Tanzania to Indonesia, Lebanon to Italy and so on. The question each spearo should be asking is what am I doing to stop it? Each one in his own corner of the world, obviously.
Because of mafiafish,i suppose
Next time use GEZUAR in change of GIAMAS that meens Cher's and say Albania not Greece
I said yamas because I was in Greece… Thessaloniki. Listen to the voice over.
Wow, heroic. You're good divers, but spearing an octopus is disgusting. You're not on subsistence level. The fish you got were small; there wasn't m much on that reef, and now there's even less. It seems you're visitors to that country, too. Ugh.
What is wrong with octopus? Fast growing, high reproduction rate.
@@DanielMann except that for to be any reproduction rate at all, they really need to exist in the first place! no octopus = zero reproduction rate! You are not entitled to kill everything you see in sight!
Clearly they do exist…
@@DanielMann obviously, so far, but not because of lack of effort on your part!
Re the flag:
Don't get me wrong but we all know as divers that even with the flag up it can mean jack to people in boat, bigger boats even worse only because they are looking for other large objects or even staring at their radar of which will definitely not pick out diver's flags on floats-no chance. What kind of boat did you have or did you do a big swim from shore? @@DanielMann
το γεια μας its Greek!
Beautiful a “Greek” with Albanian surname 😢
Because they use dynamite to fish, just like Montenegro 😂😂😂
Dynamite fishing still goes on in Greece as well. Dimos from Spearfishing Life has filmed a few of the activities and has them on his RUclips channel.
@@DanielMann yeah it’s pretty sad and dangerous. They are destroying the environment. Stay safe out there
To be honest, these places in Albania used to be greek and many people who live there are greeks.
@@DanielMann ou can search it as "northern epirus" or with this link

They never were greek. I am from there. Northern Greece was full of Cham Albaniana until they were massacred and expropriated after ww2.
@@sduka1909if you really are from there then you know that these places are greek. Albania has zero history
The greeks are between Saranda and Gjirokastra, a total of 10.000 people. And I really like them because they are all hardworking and good people. That part has nothing to do with the lands though. There are also Arvanites in Greece since the 11th century, but nobody ever claimed the Peloponese is Albanian land :).
Hello diver friend, congratulations for your videos, we have the same passion, and nothing I bought a Salvimar 105 shotgun, I never used a rubber band rifle .it's a new world for me, I've always used air rifles, it's I can't find any video tutorial for this rifle, how monta.se you make me a video tutorial for me.
