In my childhood one of my friend had Neo Geo avs which was very expensive then he bought PS1 in 1998 which is also not cheap now I shocked to see that in such a low price of plug and play console of those expensive 90s games playing.
it's the most powerful Emuelec device on the market. The price will go down when something better comes along, but it seems like this is a niche market and things don't advance very quickly.
Googled the listed chipset and found what appears to be the exact same box listed for £130 ($150ish) on other websites just without the games. Nutty that mark up for a rom dump.
The midway games sound is always low because the default test menu sound is set low. It’s worse on Pandora’s box because you can’t get into the test menu. Here you can via retroarch or maybe using a usb keyboard to access mame settings.
I don't know. You obviously are not impressed. I bought one off of Ali Express about a year ago. Kinhank one. 100k games many duplicates like you have shown. $80. For me though, it is fantastic. I realized I can make one myself but hard to find the time. I just love it so much to be honest.
Thanks for another awesome honest video❤. Unfortunately Superconsole X boxes are the best ones out there for the price and ROM dumps are a good start but as you said they are poor quality testing and you have to do some work to get the right ones. I had a hard time trying to locate a complete version of a game I used to love on the Amiga. Xenon2. Finally did it by moving copies from different ROM dumps and started my own library. Keep up the great work.
Hey, megafan of Xenon 2 and other BMB games here as well 👍 I have Xenon 2 for PC in a 'Bitmap Brothers Collection' box, and I own it on Sega Megadrive (Genesis if you're in the USA). But my favourite BMB game is Gods. It's also in the collection box for PC, I have it for the Megadrive/Genesis and for the SNES. And recently, there's a version of the game on Steam that you can set to 'original game' mode. I hope someone remasters and releases Xenon 2 on Steam soon.
I mean for someone that hasn't got a clue about emulation and doesn't want to go through all the drama to learn it all, something like this would be fine. Yeah it's got a pile of doubles and so on but it gets the job done. Myself I'm right into this stuff so I have a proper pc setup. But I do see your point about the games,it wouldn't take the company much effort to make a better game collection for that sd card. The hardware is fine they just need to sort out the games.
I hope it’s better for you. I would love to get one that you highly recommend. I could care less if there are duplicates, just as long as the retro stuff works good. And it’s a good price.
Fingers crossed he reads this as the one posted only 11 hours ago is no longer available. Talk about a hot item. Reviewed and then sold out. It’s no wonder they keep sending him free ones. Even when he rags on them they still sell like hot cakes. Seems there are more people out there that don’t want to make their own emulators. Could be a lesson in that! Just and Evil thought.
I feel like MOST people agree with you. They know going in these boxes aren’t perfect. There will be duplicates and broken ROMs here and there. They also know they can build a similar device themselves cheaper and far superior. Most feel they lack the skill regardless of tutorial availability or the time. So, an overall ranking of these Chinese dumpster fires would definitely go a long way.
Add me to the list of people who will never end up building one of these. So I guess the question for people like me is: which of these units is the LEAST flawed? And do any of them come with good controllers?
I love the idea, but I would rather do it myself. Although I have recently invested in some MODEs for my Saturn and Dreamcast and one day I may grab a MegaSD. My 16BIT hardware is running fine but I know its not long until something burns out lol. I have done my own RPi builds in the past, and I have enjoyed them somewhat but I found I dont really play enough to warrant buying a unit like this. I see it and think "aww yeah get to play a long lost game I loved" then play it to realise it wasnt as good as I remember. I would rather just build a bootable thumbdrive and load that up on my PC if I want an "emulation station" sure I cant take it everywhere but where else am I really going to play it?
Thanks for the great video. Thank you for your honest review. So many of these retro emulators that are just have a lot of rom dumps in them and not all the games play. I purchased a Retrostation PC4U 4TB hard drive loaded with 60000 games on it and you connect to a PC and I'm enjoying it. Wish you could do a review of it. Its a company in Portugal Spain and the owner is Richard Rosado Explosion of Fun. Thanks again.
Hello. I was checking videos about the retro games I found in Amazon but theres many bad reviews so I saw You comment about this restrostation pc4u and I found the website and the games videos looks better then the other in amazon. Still working after a year, can i use it in my tv too or just computer????
I think the GT King has had the same specs for years, I got one in 2018 or 19 and I just got the new one and it's the same S922X A73 chip, I even put my old SD Emulec card in it and it booted right up.
Yeah that Linus video put the fear in me. Bought a Windows 10 mini pc and put Batocera on a flash drive and using that as a dedicated retro game machine. I would only recommend this if you don't have any means of getting the roms yourself. It's cheaper to do it yourself and you can get only the games you want.
FYI The 922x chip in this Beelink GT King TV box is the best there is out there for an Emuelec/emulationstation/Retroarch build and I made my own personal system inside a high end fighter stick and used a 500GB M.2 drive inside for storage and I also installed a scanline board too. In using one of these boxes, it`s epic because of the power of this box. Unfortunately here whoever is selling this as it is here is just a lazy cash grabber who has simply bought some of these boxes and stuck some archived broken collection that cons you into thinking it`s good because it reports a very high game count. These people care nothing for the customer or gaming at all it seems. Building your own system is the best way but takes a long time and has a steep learning curve too so that option is out of reach for most people. When buying things like this it`s best to by something that is made, or at least appears to be made by an actual Gamer who has spent a lot of time making it the best that they can so it`s important to check out reviews like this if you can before buying anything
well I have built various different ARcade, Pinball and console style machines as well always based on hald decent PC parts inside as well as the one mentioned above inside of a Mayflash F500 Elite fighter stick from a parts from a high end android TV box and at the moment I am trying to suss out what systems I would reproduce again for sale and which I wouldn`t because of retail costs that I have to pay and the amount of work required from me without someone to just manufacture parts on mass as I am only looking to ever sell high end boutique things made on a very small scale. The Android based system above also required me to use a dremel to remove plastic parts inside of the fighter stick and drill extra holes and openings before I could even mount what I needed to inside and so in the case of that I have probably decided that I couldn`t charge enough for it overall to make enough profit to bother and so I will give it a miss even though it`s great methinks@@vincejava6038

It's more fun to just build a setup yourself, then you can put on just the games you really want and enjoy playing. And if you don't have the technical knowledge or are intimidated by the idea, there are literally dozens of very good tutorials out there on RUclips to make it more than doable!
I am a firm believer in build it yourself systems. Thank you for this review. "Some people" really put the dump in roms! The source has to be directly controlled by the archivist. I'm still laughing at "Lot Lizards" reference.
Every time I see these prebuilt emulation system with bundled games and controllers I've always been disappointed. So I ended up building my own system using an old i7-3770, 16gb ram, 8tb HDD and Batocra. Sure it takes a while to source all the roms and make sure they work. Yet its well wort it.
This. At that pricerange you can even build decent budget PC that will run modern games at mid to high settings and handle all emulation including switch and ps3. Aliexpress care package: X79 s2011 motherboard ~60$, 10-core Xeon E5-2690v2 25$, s2011 cpu cooler ~20$, 32 GB DDR3 ECC server ram 30$, RX580 8G 2048 ~80$ + 1TB Intel 670p Nvme ssd for 45$ and ~50$ 650w Superflower PCU from Amazon. Yes and No. You see, there's a thing called "sales". I managed to get this for $60.00. to my door. Will you build and sell me one even better then this for $60.00, with controllers and all, to my door free ship? 🎤 Drop
Thanks for the video, maybe you or someone here can help me with this things: 1. How can I download new games without take off the memory card, is it possible? 2. How can I save games in the middle of the games? Because with this when I press start + select, the menu bar doesn’t open, and if I press again I leave the game. The problem is, when I back to the game, I need to start again, can you help me with this? 3. 1. How can I download new games without take off the memory card, is it possible? 2. I wish they would have a section of games that don’t run good . I would love to have the roms for other systems without looking up every one on the internet .
The big problem is that this stuff is no longer cheap crap. $250 ain't cheap enough to buy crap. I think China is trying to appeal to the typical American school of thought which is "you get what you pay for". So if they make it much more expensive then perhaps more people will automatically assume that it has to be quality instead of cheap garbage when in reality it's really just expensive garbage now.
in about two weeks ive set up launchbox,retroarch,pcsx2,citra,dolphin and have nearly every game installed from the earliest right up to ps2 and gamecube, just do a bit each day is what i did,its worth it,pick what games you want set everything up right compared to these retro consoles.with these retro consoles anything above 16 bit runs crap, doing it yourself you can have ps2 games runninh high res looking better than ps3 games.
I would never attempt to do one of these myself from scratch. But I might enjoy fixing the mess of one of these for sure. But which one?? They've already released 16 more since this video (probably!)
oh boy. I'm just starting the episode but I'm wondering if this console will still be in one piece by the end of the episode. Judging by the last few episodes money is on the broom stick.
instead of messing with these consoles and their rom dumps i hacked my ps1 mini with project eris and added my own roms. i added Japan only games with English translation and they even run fine. now granted, it won't play Dreamcast and newer but some Saturn games run ok and everything 16 bit and older work just fine. most PSP games run ok on it
You really want to put hate on this "console" I think they are really good value. Especially for old bstds like me... Man i have been messing around with emulation for 20yrs... These days i just really cbf mucking around.... Just give me this plug and play. stuff.. Who cares if the odd game doesn't work.. and most of the time you can change the emu to a different one and it works. I have the super console x pro for about a year now and i love it. I just bought some good wireless controls and couldn't be happier. I would recommend to anyone who just want to play straight up. 👍 For the price 10 out of 10 from me. 🤘 I didn't dislike the video by the way 👍 Not that it matters anymore..
Their philosophy is more is better, even if they are duplicates. Say you have the average Joe consumer who doesn't know better, they're more than likely going to buy the one that has 100,000+ games instead of the one that has like 40,000 games and no duplicates.
having bought a couple of these things I would never consider using the controllers that come with it they are usually cheap unresponsive controllers I would always use somethings like a ps3 official controller and configure it as it makes playing the games a lot nicer experience.
I made my own box. I prefer the Sega Genesis (180 games in total) over SNES (140 games that includes Satelliview, Sufari Turbo, and Hacks). SMS 50/NES 235.
I added the correct Need for Speed game (you need to look for Road & Track Presents The Need for Speed) and renamed the wrong one Tokimeki Mahjong Paradise Special.
Its the Artwork scrapers fault for getting that dating game mixed up. for some reason it thinks its need for speed so it changes the name of the dating game and then puts the wrong art work in. I bet the need for speed rom is not even on the device.
problem is with these things is they have all the great multiplayer games, including all the versions of street fighter, mortal kombat, soul calibur, mario kart, Ninja turtles etc yet you cant play any of them online with random people :/
I bought one of those ROM dump consoles, watched one of your videos 5 minutes later then fortunately cancelled my order (It was £130 from Amazon). I'm now downloading CoinOPS Legends 2, and will make my own console at a later date. So thank you for saving me (Both emotionally and financially)
Screw finding and trying to make emulators work you says these boxes may be waste of money monye yet it takes many hours or more or if your a noob at it gonna take you years to figure it out £600 for all the games have all the roms and emulators you need I mean yea I can see myself deleting the realy old stuff but keep the games I want to play like the xbox games brute force add it to my collection then go to the old windows pc games and start collecting from that then killzone games then ghost recon games all the call of duty and medal of honor £600 to have everything even if your likely to keep a few Nintendo gamws or a few saga games or a few game cube games £600 to have everything vs finding everything
Thank you for this review. I won’t waste my money on this! But how does someone like me learn to do this myself like you recommend? I’m not very savvy in this area!😕
i really just wanna get my retroarch or something to look like this frontend. looks amazing lol. and that little monitor.. pure beauty. where can I get it lol?
The N64 GAMES don't really work for my raspberry pi 3b+ but I would like a hard drive like this for the post PS1 and above titles. But I'd rather have something that is plug and Play that you can just plug into your TV with a controller
Just buy a used mini pc (HP Elitedesk 705) for around 150 bucks with an AMD Ryzen 5 and enjoy retro gaming up to Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Gamecube, Wii and even some Wii U Games. Batocera is amazing as an OS and you can configure everything through retro arch or via standalone Emulators. These android mini consoles aren't worth it. I tested so many. They are good enough for Dreamcast, but they even struggle with N64, Saturn and PS2 is out of the question. You can also use Duckstation on a Mini PC with 4k, Widescreen Hack, Anti-Dithering and De-wobbeling for the textures and different really powerful texture filters.
Alot of the Amazon reviews for these "retro super consoles" say they break or brick after a few weeks or few months of use due to crappy components. Some don't even start...
Pretty cool if they cleaned it up a little bit, with better working controls, got rid on bad non working duplicate titles, and the price would still need to be alot lower for me to buy this.
You can build a mini PC that will do a much better job. Theres load of tutorials on how to set up and run retro games and with a series 10 card it'll run everything up to PS2.
So curious, I still these "brand" of overseas consoles scattered all over alibaba. Can you recommend at least 1 descent one? I have some foreign friends that want me to ship to them. But I'm lost in the sea of abundance of these things.....ex....GAME BOX

I think China is trying to appeal to the typical American school of thought which is "you get what you pay for". So if they make it much more expensive then perhaps more people will automatically assume that it has to be quality instead of cheap garbage when in reality it's really just expensive garbage now.
I got this same garbage for $60.00 to my door. Try building this garbage for $60.00.... 🎤 drop
@@KattD.How Did You Get The Box for $60 ?
I’ve seen people have a 4K firestick with retro arch and using a Bluetooth controller which I assume a ps4 controller would work
Yeah it’s on Kodi. Gonna try it soon
in about two weeks ive set up launchbox,retroarch,pcsx2,citra,dolphin and have nearly every game installed from the earliest right up to ps2 and gamecube, just do a bit each day is what i did,its worth it,pick what games you want set everything up right compared to these retro consoles.with these retro consoles anything above 16 bit runs crap, doing it yourself you can have ps2 games runninh high res looking better than ps3 games.
Exactly, I have a month in my build. 113TB worth of files.
You probably get asked a lot, but what is that portable monitor you use to demo these devices? It looks nice and crisp and is a great size
I was wondering the same thing. I need to get one
It’s a portable monitor. Got one myself and it’s pretty good
instead of messing with these consoles and their rom dumps i hacked my ps1 mini with project eris and added my own roms. i added Japan only games with English translation and they even run fine. now granted, it won't play Dreamcast and newer but some Saturn games run ok and everything 16 bit and older work just fine. most PSP games run ok on it
E.V.O. The Search for Eden has one of the hardest final boss battles I’ve ever endured
You really want to put hate on this "console"
I think they are really good value.
For the price 10 out of 10 from me. 🤘
I didn't dislike the video by the way 👍
Not that it matters anymore..
And btw... if you do buy one of these make sure you backup/duplicate your micro sd..
My "Super Console X" is a docked Steam Deck and it plays every game tested in this video UPSCALED to 1440p
That is cool
How do I get one of those done ✅
It's a BeeLink Mini PC. They make the best minis and Android boxes by a long shot
Question, you mention "you can buy better" . What is better? Im after a hyperspin esc looking interface on a reliable hdmi stick . I dont wana janky
You can make a favourites list eh? Chuck 50 of the best on there and you have a great little system.
How much would it cost to build ???
I made my own box. I prefer the Sega Genesis (180 games in total) over SNES (140 games that includes Satelliview, Sufari Turbo, and Hacks). SMS 50/NES 235.
It’s amazing to me that people keep sending you stuff when all you do is complain about it for the most part
I added the correct Need for Speed game (you need to look for Road & Track Presents The Need for Speed) and renamed the wrong one Tokimeki Mahjong Paradise Special.
Is it possible to get into the roms folders and clean up the dupes and add your own?
I just subscribed. Thank you for putting these kind of video.. i totally agree . Why come out with a device that has system glitches on roms. ..
if you get mini pc and put batocera with usb stick is the easiest solution, and you can add games and emulators very easily
Hi can someone please tell me Is indiana jones and the infernal machine on this
You and another gentlemen have saved me from making a bad decision. Thank you.
Its the Artwork scrapers fault for getting that dating game mixed up. for some reason it thinks its need for speed so it changes the name of the dating game and then puts the wrong art work in. I bet the need for speed rom is not even on the device.
Hi good video
Is ther a possible to add a modify game from ps2?
like a custom game iso or somethin like that
problem is with these things is they have all the great multiplayer games, including all the versions of street fighter, mortal kombat, soul calibur, mario kart, Ninja turtles etc
yet you cant play any of them online with random people :/
Saturn games run good on this. Radiant silvergun and panzer dragoon play great.
I don't understand why they can't just select the top 30 games for each system and make sure everything runs properly...
Thank you for this review. I won’t waste my money on this! But how does someone like me learn to do this myself like you recommend? I’m not very savvy in this area!😕
Reddit
Does this console with work Bluetooth controllers or other controllers with a dongle?
i really just wanna get my retroarch or something to look like this frontend. looks amazing lol. and that little monitor.. pure beauty. where can I get it lol?
oh.. and if one doesn't list the brightness... its for a reason... its crap and they want to hide it. there are lots of those.
The box runs on EmuELEC.
The N64 GAMES don't really work for my raspberry pi 3b+ but I would like a hard drive like this for the post PS1 and above titles. But I'd rather have something that is plug and Play that you can just plug into your TV with a controller
Like the video and for someone with no knowledge of coding an emulator this is a good option
have you tried retrokat ?
What's the best way to scan these for malware?
How is the latency of the control ?
to me it looks perfect.
I want to buy one these, eventually. Which one would you recommend?
I'd love to see you test Mario tennis on 64. I've never found one that didn't crash.
Alot of the Amazon reviews for these "retro super consoles" say they break or brick after a few weeks or few months of use due to crappy components. Some don't even start...
Life is like a box of Chinese Junk. You never know what you're gonna get.
lame.
What about those expensive retro pie on Amazon?
If this thing has skitchen I’m sold.
So playing in steam(lots of arcade games there)would you say its better than buying one of those consoles???
Do you have link with the screen used to play the games on?
Hey man have you found one yet thats worth getting straight out the box?
Does it have the racing game RUSH ?
are you able to add or delete games and use different controllers on this device??
yes, pretty much any wired or wireless controller works. And they do give info on how to add and remove games... its pretty easy.
Woow its realycool wanted to buy one for my tv i pray i get one to connect to my tv...thanks bro
should i get one of these or use an old computer for retro emulation?
What monitor are you using?
Which one would you recommend?
Pretty cool if they cleaned it up a little bit, with better working controls, got rid on bad non working duplicate titles, and the price would still need to be alot lower for me to buy this.
Is there any truly good ones to buy out there? I’d like to buy one as a Christmas gift, but don’t what to give garage.
What is that table top monitor you are using?
You save me time and money. Thank you
Do these system have the old Laser Disc arcade games like Dragon's Lair, Cliffhanger, Area 51, Space Ace...
I don’t want to build it and don’t have the knowledge. But can u recommend one that is better than the rest. I appreciate your info
You should do a video on "how to do" it yourself video
Do you have link with the screen used to play the games on?
The reason why there's duplicates is because of it goes to other countries more foreign languages are covered
Emulator console pc section needs sunshine bay, transport empire, airport city, and eco farm/add those toh and beh thee Emulator charm /bomb 💣 😄 ❤
Can you hook this up to a smart TV?
