i'm so with you on wanting more muted shades, especially cool muted. i feel like k beauty shade ranges always have some variation of bright corals and pinks, maybe some autumn deep warm tones but very rarely cool muted tones? like they'll have one bright pink or lavender and call that ''summer cool'' because it's a lighter shade, when summer is supposed to be cool, light, and MUTED. i feel like they took the logic of warm seasons (autumn=deep, dark, muted ; spring =bright, light, vivid) and applied it to cool seasons resulting in very few true summer or winter shades.
omg yes!! you are so right. 🤩 i think there have been instances kbeauty brands do muted tones but its so rare that it seems like it never happens. since ive been on the search for muted colours to compliment my cool-lightv olive skin, i do have a couple of makeup items. probably will do a video on it soon.
when korea finally realise that there are more undertones then warm, neutral and cool.. cool is always super pink or still too yellow, neutral just isnt neutral usually yellow, and warm.. yeah is warm. i need muted tones, olive tones. plus, to me looking at the swatches from clio cushion, the darker tones are still very warm, even the cools.
you are so real. beauty brands need to realise there's a biiig missing chunk of olive tone foundations. its so rare to come across an olive tone shade in a foundation range nowadays.
reformulation cycles are really interesting aren't they? i guess its like, the easiest way to make sure your existing customer base replaces their products, as well as trying to generate hype for new customers. also agreed about the very pink or very yellow thing - MAC also does this and it drives me nuts. im quite cool toned and fair but with a sort of golden/olive undertone, so the lightest colour always being very pink is strange to me. maybe its that 'tone up' thing...
oh that is a great point! "an update" for your loyal customers + getting the attention of new customers. it does sound like we're quite similar in skintone! do you think its possible you have a cool-yellow overtone? cause i also struggle with cool foundations looking way too pink at times. the last time i did a mac foundation swatch test at the counter, i think i was a nc13
I think you’re right about Tirtir showing kbeauty brands there was a strong demand for darker shades.. it’s sad that they needed a proof-of-concept before doing it themselves but better late than never I guess.. I like that kbeauty use the numbering system that’s _fairly_ universal (for example I’m usually a 17N) so I hope that starts to show up in the Western market!
riiiight? i always think back to "ok its a business at the end of the day. and businesses need the actual numbers and proof to see if its profitable or nah". how do you generally find 17N on you so far? i saw a couple of people in the comments saying they find it too pink or yellow for them :o
short hair is so cute on you! also agree with kbeauty brands taking eons to release new shades, and they only did when tirtir started doing well in the US🙄also allow me to go off on a tangent here, so many kbeauty brands started using models with lips which are filled with filler which makes the lips completely smooth and unwrinkled, which makes me think theres gonna be issues with uneven settling into the lip wrinkles tbh, like i have no doubt there are regular models with attractive lips that have no filler but it's almost like they insist on using models with lips that arent representative of the general public lol
THIS!! this is one of my biggest gripes with current lip swatches from brands. like i *know* my lips arent that smooth and it won't look *that* good either. i wished they wont erase these "flaws" because its only human nature to have lip lines 🥲
true!!! hence their problem as well that it's normalized and propagated in S. Korea to get these fillers like it's just a "daily routine" thing 😔 while the rest of the world, IN GENERAL, don't want to get or can't get these types of procedures (but im seeing the trend be more "regular" in the gen population of the rest of the world as well 🥲)
i notice that most of the clio cushion shades lean very yellow/orange, but perhaps they look better irl, idk? i hope they add more neutral/olive undertones T_T
big fat yes to hoping more brands release olive undertones! i vaguely remember owning ginger in one of their cushions? it was super orange on me. borderline looked like oompa loompa haha. we need muted foundation colours frfr. brands keep releasing "brightening" foundations (bc asian beauty standards) but 80% our faces look too bright compared to the rest of our body 😅
I remember romand had a squeezy tube matte lip topper that was colorless and think that's what they're referring to when they said "back after 6 years" Idk how i feel about a version with pigment in a squeezy tube though cause it seems hard to blend with. Also i love that clio is giving us new shades of the prism highlighters but i dont like the new packaging and new embossing. I love the old Embossing and clio had packaging after the one you showed in the video that looked EXPENSIVE. Im guessing the embossing is a winter limited editon but i hope they dont keep the clear packaging
omg really? wait, i gotta search this up. 👀 ah yes, the old embossing is STUNNING. i dont think i see any kbeauty brands doing embossing like that nowadays. idk its just me or what, but i realise alot of brands (not just clio), they kinda "cheapened" themselves? a good example (but also to deviate a little) , charlotte tilbury's recent 'leak' of 9 pan shadows in a plastic see-thropugh case got my eyes wide and poppin. cause CT is already so expensive and like they're putting *bare-minimum* effort into creating the product. and its always a rush to churn out the next new product, chase the next new makeup trend, etc.... then theres also a part of me thinking "hmm clear plastic case helps people to see the product inside". 👀 aiya, i dunno, it feels cheap to me a little hahaha!
The 3CE eyeshadow palette looks good! I like 3CE's quality, use quite a few of their stuff. But 25 is too big. Hope they'll streamline it. I find most highlighters show up pores
I miss clio single prism air shadow that came in cute little sturdy box with mirror inside. The glitter was so so very beautiful. Too bad this time clio releases the highlighter instead of re launch or re package or whatever for their prism air shadow
omg I KNOW which one you're talking about!! it came out around the same time as the OG prism air highlighters 🤩 if im not wrong, they also had eyeshadow palettes of that formula, right? im guessing clio's pro eye palette air is their only line of eyeshadow atm 😅. maybe they wanna streamline their eyeshadow line. but it'd be cool if they re-release the prism air shadows!!
@ since the single prism air shadow had been way out of production, i reached out for their palettes that also have glitter in the pan but too bad it’s not of the same formula. I find it hard to pick up enough product from the glitter pan, it feels too dry while that old single ones were so buttery you lighthandedly can get proper amount of product
I love that colorr Peripera Ink Mood Glowy Tint in shade 30 As a summer mute / soft summer, looking forward to your swatch and perhaps you could share it with us
thank you so much! oh yes, ive seen that cushion appearing on my timeline too hahah. if you do try it out, let me know how it works out for you! im curious about it too
I wish the medium Clio shades were more pink. Everything looks super yellow/orange. I tried 23N ginger before and it was super yellow. I hope they keep adding more colors. Even tirtir only got a shade that matches me in their latest release(22C).
yeah, funny enough i realised majority of kbeauty brands dont do 22C / 23C / 25C very often. its hard to come by because by asian beauty standards, people who are 'medium tone' are immediately categorised as warm tone. which definitely doesnt make sense! cause there are medium toned people with cool undertones too!! at the top of my head, aside from tirtir, i know laneige does 23C in their cushion foundations. heimish had a 23C shade for their moringa bb cream but then discontinued it lmao.
I love the squeezy tube matte lip because most are a pot I adore Fwees pudding pot but it’s so inconvenient to carry and reapply when I’m out and around my applicator doesn’t have a lid so I have to clean that too it’s just annoying but this tube looks soooo nice and easy I love it I’ll probably buy it to see for myself
oh that is a good point! carrying a whole ass glass tub + applicator can feel clunky. im really curious about this new lip product from romand 👀 ive always wanted to do an updated dedicated romand lip formula review but they KEEP releasing new stuff 🤡
it's only about twice the price of a standard 9-pan 3CE palette which is surprising. i do really like the light blue colours in their standard mauve-rosy-brick colour palettes but idk if 25 colours was really needed lol
I'll also look forward to your review of their new cushion Based on translations (which may or may not be accurate) of korean comments in a review I watched, there are mixed reviews of it with some saying it enhanced the appearance of their pores. You're my reference beauty vlogger now because I also live in a humid country (Philippines) and we have similar skin tone (Soft Summer / Summer Mute, neutral-cool olive) I bought Clio Skin Fixer Cushion in 21N as well based on your review, and I love it! 💖
omg hello! SEA girlies rise 🥹✨ thank you for your sweet comment, i am glad the skin fixer cushion worked out for you! ill probs swatch it in store? but also not sure if ill actually purchase it 😆 i have a tooon of other stuff id wanna review first 🤍
