I dont really use ai features that much so for me this update was great because it feels so much smoother, floating window interactions are more intuitive and it fixed annoying bugs like the ui lagging while playing videos and swiping up for the app switcher not being smooth. I think im still having the refresh rate issue where it wont go down to 1 hz because of my battery life but that could be something else.
Imagine my surprise when watching a Shane Craig video and my post comes up with the bird lol!
Let me also clarify that results have been mixed for me as well, sometimes I also end up with similar results. I tend to find that outdoors on highly zoomed in photos that tend to lose resolution is where it tends to do better, although it has limited use case in that scenario. It can be frustrating but I also wanted to give OnePlus their flowers for when it does work!

Glad to hear it's a bigger update than initially thought. Major kudos to OnePlus and Oppo on those animation updates, even before Android 15 they were already among the best imo
I personally have had an awesome experience with 15 so far and it's really made me love my my open again. The last two updates were really buggy, but the refresh rate bug has been fixed for me, no noticeable issues in day to day use (so far...) and my battery life has been phenomenal. I can go two or more days without a charge. My battery life wasn't bad before, but mine has been substantially improved, since updating to 15.
The messaging app bug is so bad, you need to restart to get it to work properly, but then the restart bug comes in, every time it would say that there's no sim card.
I have that problem on my 12 sometimes, I've found to fix it make a call and once the call starts ringing it fixes the messages bug. Maybe give that a try

I think the fact that a 2023 model phone is even worthy to compare with the current year model phones says everything. I love the open and have no regrets about switching from the z fold.
Same! I love it. The last update was a huge bummer for me and buggy, but I personally have had nothing but a great time with 15 so far. Refresh rate bug was fixed for me, haven't had any issues and my battery life has been phenomenal; greatly improved in oxygen os 15.
@@27Binx72 I only had to do a network reset to alleviate a bluetooth connectivity issue.
Speaking of faster animations: if you tap & hold on the main home screen and go into the gear icon called "more" there is an animation effect setting that you can set to "enhanced" that speeds up animations. Not sure if it's better than the method you mentioned but it looks great too.
Is that only on the update? I haven't received it yet and don't see it.
@TanMan1 yeah it's only on the update. The method Shane mentions in the video works pretty good too, though.
The best results I've seen with the detail boost have come with cropped images.
I think its main purpose is to spruce up low resolution photos, and so if you use it on a photo you just took, you won't see much. But if you crop into a small part of that photo and use it, you can get some noticeable results.
Another spot I found it gives noticeable results is in low-light photos with some movement.
(You also might want to see if you need to update your AI Algorithm on the phone)

I'm super intrigued by the OnePlus Open, but where I think One Plus, Samsung, and even Google in some sense, are going wrong is in the camera department. I know the components on these things are expensive and that justifies part of the expense of these foldables, but if people are having to fork over $1500-$2000 for a foldable, it's got to be a premium experience in my mind. Pro-level cameras experience is part of that.
Also, I use the notes app while in church putting down little blurps and Bible verses that go with them during the service. I went back and I used the AI summarize and AI add detail, it worked very well in either circumstance. So it looks like it works well if you make your own notes in the OnePlus notes app and use AI.
Can't wait for this update. The November update of Oxygen 14 wrecked my battery life. I hope this update will fix that.

The hallucinations in the AI Detail Booster are REAL.
That dent next to your power button looks like it might be from smacking into an edge or something while the phone is in your pocket.
I go out of my way not to lean on stuff with my phone (my wife broke a screen that way, so it sticks in my mind), but anything is possible. I don't have a better answer.
After a full year, i am now daily driving my S24U, but i do pick up my Open more often than i did the S24U when it wasn't my daily driver. Have you ever thought about getting the OnePlus Pad 2 and trying out that ecosystem? Outside of Dex and the S-Pen, Oneplus can compete with Samsung in that area.
I agree with you about it being snappy. I love it as my daily driver.
I switch to the s24 ultra since I had to get my open repaired. I love this device I just don't feel like switching my texts over and stuff yet lol. I like it away better than my 24u. Especially charging speeds and IR blaster
Try using the AI detail boost on a family photo or faces, works well. Especially ones that lack detail.
Overall the uodate made navigation feel and look more smooth but the AI trickery feels underbalee. Its a fine update, not as huge as it semeed it'd be though
I found a bug in Facebook, when sharing something and writing about it you can't see what you are writing 😅 also RUclips seems to have a spring effect when you scroll. Also the first time opening WhatsApp you can see artifacts when you get out of a conversation
Honestly, if the OnePlus had Google's calling features, I'd switch and never look back.

So I know you favor the pixel fold. With that said , when using the OnePlus open what is a few features you go "man , I miss this from my pixel" ?
Pixel Studio, Reimagine, Call Screening, camera reliability, Assistant Typing, even just the overall look and feel. Lots of things.
@scaryiflitera call screening was something I didn't know I couldn't live without. That should be on every phone.

I thought my youtube mini player bug was gone but its still here😅 cant browse while mini player is active. All my touch capacitive movements are registered as if I'm "moving" the mini player, but I'm not. ill try selecting another video and it'll just full screen the mini or drag it.

Well, I am not so happy that OnePlus changed default switch app mechanics in 15. I mean e.g. returning to desktop when opened an app in app drawer or swipe app.

@@scaryifliteral well, open app drawer, launch app from it, then swipe up. And you will be still on app drawer page, not on main screen as previously in 14.
second change: open app, then swipe up. And you will be automatically switched on next app, not the one which you used before. Vanilla Android or previous Oxygen doesn't have such switch logic.
With oos15 the youtube refresh rate bug seems to be resolved for me. The display size still seems to reset from small to standard randomly.
Is there a way to create a blank Home Screen on the OnePlus Open? Or is there a way to do that so I have a blank home page screen using an app?
Stupid OnePlus... never again will I buy their crap.. my Cupra app and other apps have stopped working because it lags behind all the updates... so damn tired of them.
I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. Before the update I was able to put different profile pictures on the front and inner screens now it seems that they both have to be the same picture. Any ideas? Also is there any way to change the app draw background color? Thanks
@@marcarchambault8924 I think there's an icon on the top or bottom that switches between inner or outer and at the end it asks you if you want to do the same picture for both 😅 it's confusing a bit
I just tried that and that's a no go. Get sam picture on both screens. That's how I did it before the recent update.@@stankozniewski9385
I have a problem with the floating window of WhatsApp. Does anyone else have this problem? It was since it was updated.
