      1. Many computer won't allow you to capture 4K even if the signal coming in is 4K
      2. Capturing in 4K is relatively harmless but streaming in 4K takes a lot of horsepower. CPU horsepower, Graphics Card horsepower, and Internet horsepower.

      You seem to be confusing two functions.
      The Camlink isn't for the camera to do USB streaming. For the Camlink to work, you'd connect the camera to the Camlink via HDMI, and then the Camlink plugs into a USB port on your computer.
      If you're trying to use the camera's USB streaming function, then you just connect the camera to the computer via USB, and no Camlink is necessary. That results in a lower-quality stream than using HDMI and the Camlink, but is a little simpler to set up.

      Thank you! Yes that makes sense but in my situation I don’t really do much live streaming. I’m actually trying to use this setup to make some videos from my MacBook. Basically… I want to do some singing videos just at my desk so I’ve just bought a nice audio mixer that’s going to handle all my audio needs without needing to use logic on the Mac. I want to be able to record in 4k from my Sony camera and just record from the MacBook. I’m going to use something like Ecamm or OBS to record. I want good quality recording with 4k video and great audio from my mixer. I’ve been just recording on the camera then taking the sd card out and then transferring the footage to the Mac, importing to fcpx and then I’ve been exporting audio from logic and syncing the files in Final Cut. All very long winded and awkward having to keep taking the card out the camera and then exporting audio and syncing etc. Hope that makes sense?

I don't think Elgato does a good job of maintaining drivers for their legacy products like the Camlink. I purchased the Prompter too but it runs on the same software desktop app as the Camlink. I did get the camera connected via USB 3 but the resolution is only 720p. I'll look for another hdmi capture card. Thanks for a great question! The USB it great for powering the camera, but the quality loss of capturing the image going over the USB cable as opposed to the pure signal you get over HDMI is almost night and day. The USB signal is still considered “HD” but the resolution loss comparatively is noticeable.
      Now don’t get me wrong, the USB signal isn’t complete garbage… BUT - the difference is so noticeable that I have all my clients and student buy the Camlink when they work with me.
      Here is a great short little video showing the difference. The bigger the screen you watch the comparison on the more you see the resolution difference. Comparison starts at 0:37

    Hello. I'm looking for a model that I can use in live broadcasts. I will have no other purpose than taking photos of my cats at home and broadcasting them live. It has a capture card and I can easily connect it to the computer from there. My budget is 1000$ including lens. Is this model suitable for my purpose or would you recommend a different model? I would be very grateful if you could please help me with this. Have you experienced heating and shutdown problems?

      Nope, OBS is a great tool that opens up some options - but a simple capture card essentially turns your DSLR into a webcam that you can select just like any other camera options on your system. 🎥👍

      My office otherwise just has downlights and a moderate amount of daylight from window on one end of my desk.
      I also just got a Desview T3 Teleprompter to go with the camera, so would love some guidance on positioning and setup of that.

    I thought the zv e10 didn't need a cam link due to the usb C port?

    • @videoforentrepreneurs
      @videoforentrepreneurs  9 месяцев назад +2

      Great Question!
      You can absolutely run the ZV-E10 through the USB to use like a webcam... However, the quality is noticeably lower that capturing the video feed via the Camlink 4K.
      Because all my clients are entrepreneurs and professionals, I want the best quality possible for them, so I always recommend a capture card.
      Pro Tip: Use the USB cable to "power" the camera and a Camlink to capture the video for a powerful combo that means you don't have to swap out batteries all the time. 😉

      @videoforentrepreneurs Thank you for your reply!
      I'm a streamer here on youtube. I stream video games and host a podcast and do interviews. I'm looking to enhance my video quality.
      I was going to run the zv e10 with a Sony ac battery adapter and a USB c to USB into my pc.
      Are you saying I'd still need the cam link to have the full camera fidelity on stream?
      Forgive me if that's a stupid question. Any help is appreciated.

    • @videoforentrepreneurs
      @videoforentrepreneurs  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@Crackadona - Not a stupid question at all.
      Now although there is a quality difference, I am not saying the USB signal is total garbage. But the difference is noticeable and only degrades over stream.
      But… if you want the full fidelity of the camera you definitely want to run an HDMI micro to HDMI cable from the camera to a Camlink 4K and simply use the USB port or the battery adapter you have to power your rig for streaming.
      Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you have.

      Direct to media (SD Card) is always better when it’s an option.
      85% of my social media content is captured via Camlink 4K and it’s definitely good enough, but my RUclips videos are all SD card captured and edited after.

    • @videoforentrepreneurs
      @videoforentrepreneurs  10 месяцев назад +2

      Great question, I actually just got this question yesterday while doing a studio build in person for a client.
      In my personal opinion 4K is simply overkill and sets you up for easily avoidable problems.
      Capturing in 4K is relatively harmless but streaming in 4K takes a lot of horsepower. CPU horsepower, Graphics Card Horsepower, and Internet horsepower.
      On the viewers end 95% of people won’t even notice a difference. They would have to be using a 4K screen big enough to notice the difference and also have super fast WiFi on their end to get the full experience.
      Because I help people look and sound great on camera as frictionless as possible, I opt for the safety of streaming in HD.
      Apologies for the Novella. 🤣

      I prefer a capture card because the quality is noticeably higher than the USB feed the camera offers. But if recorded content is the direction you are going then straight to an SD card is superior of course.

I use the camera for my YT videos but have to record audio to a separate device. I tried linking my audio device to the camera but the preamps in the camera are dreadful and I have to sync in post. Hi! I’m hoping you can help. I’ve done exactly the recommended with my ZVE10 and everything is pretty much perfect
    Except for 1 thing. I have a really annoying video delay when I record using OBS
    I’ve tried to offset the microphone to compensate, but it doesn’t help.
    How can I get rid of my video output delay?

    • @videoforentrepreneurs
      @videoforentrepreneurs  День назад

      The video output really doesn't have any lag or "latency" so I think the audio might be the issue.
      Have you already tried adjusting the latency for audio in OBS using their "Sync Offset" feature?

      4K streaming relies too much on internet speed and computer specs to work flawlessly. 1080P is still HD and gives your viewer a better chance of experiencing that quality with compression or lag.
