This past January 1, my Synagogue sang it to the tune of Auld Lang Syne. Part of me was in horror as we sang Adon Olam while giving the obvious nod to the Idolatry of the Christian New Year, (although Robert Burns had no such notion of his poem being the traditional song sung for such commemoration,) while another part thought it amusing that the tune actually worked.
@cantortany : Our Cantor was an opera singer from Russia as well. Maybe Hashem blessed them with voices because of the area and the situation. It's the same with the remote area where I'm from ~ everybody sings and plays almost any musical instruments their hands fall upon ~ all by ear. B'H forever.
The fabulous voices are coming from outside the US because most of my fellow Americans only care about sports and rock music, and don't give a hoot about vocal quality or good music... There *are* some fine singers who love good music, but it's hard to fnd an audience for them.
I know of three tunes for Adon Olam. I always knew this one was Slavic in origin, either from Hungary or Ukraine. There's another melancholy one that's kind of like a chant, and it's probably from Hungary. A third, more upbeat one, comes from a German beer hall song.
This song is typically sung at the conclusion of Shabbat morning religious services, at least in many Conservative congregations, but it exists in several different melodic settings. The most unusual, and one of the most delightful, rendition has it sung to the tune of the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine"!
Nice but it would have been nicer yet for them to learn the rest of the verses of this prayer - there are quite a few more... As far "why there is no beautiful music and/or singers coming from the US" - try Zamir Chorale: beautiful music, beautiful voices united in Hebrew songs both religious and secular. They are from Boston. Unique as they are, they are definitely NOT the only singing group of this kind. Look beyond Brighton Beach - you'll find plenty of beautiful voices.
Not all jewish are wearing Kipot you know as a metter of fact most of jewish in Israel are not using kippot at all and of course this guys are jewish ! But they are russian jewish like myself im from Russia but im live in israel and im jewish!
I note that this is a performance for entertainment, and in no way represents a form of prayer. These singers are not even wearing kippot. Are they Jewish?
Please listen they're saying the name of YHVH! backwards! That's a curse blasphemous! Don't sing this song otherwise you'd be cursing YAH! Blessed be YHVH, YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH AND THE PRECIOUS RUACH HA KODESH for knowledge, understanding, wisdom, teaching, leading and guiding me to truth! Please don't listen especially don't be singing this song!
Those absolutely fabulous voices bring the beautiful music of Land of Israel.
Thanks that this music was being saved for all of us to hear and enjoy.
For the best version of this melody can't beat the original one, sung by the composer Uzi Chitman. Real soul and a killer bass line.
Wonderful - especially the impeccable Hebrew coming from Russian singers.
Such a beautiful rendition of this song.
Gave me goosebumps! They are terrific.

Linda música hebraica.Amo ouvir essa canção cantada por esses profissionais do canto.
Absolutly perfect. Melody composef by the late Uzi Chitman.
Love this. My synagogue sings it every Shabbat, different tunes every time. Anyways, I find it cool how Adon Olam can go with a lot of tunes.

My own personal soul Synagogue sings this tune as well very often
If a tune exists someone will sing Adon Olam to it.
wow, brought tears in my eyes!
I love this music.
Woot! Go Israel! Love this song!

It's great that this in theory, still promotes Jews :-)
@cantortany -The Ukraine is in Europe as is much of Russia which is on two continents.-both Europe and Asia.
They're good, but Yohoram Gaon's rendition is still the best.
@Jawafirst -Hola Judios d'Espana.

:-)
Could not find Yehoram Gaon's rendition. Do you have a source, please?
You mean SOUL, right?
@Charliethedawg
Actually, they are all Jewish.

¿ are you in facebook? God Bless You
@Charliethedawg -They are all Jewish, but what is your point.
Now all they need is to put yarmulke's when they sing holy Jewish songs to show that they are still Jews and to set an example for the Russian Jews.
@natan1946 -They are Russian Jews.Should they be fluent in Swahili.
wer ist felix?
Ukraine as well as Russia is an independent country, so why you call it
" the Ukraine" ?
I doubt they are even Jewish, maybe the second guy. Very nice still.

You can't go round putting this antisemitic drivel wherever you find it on the net.
