This clip is 12 years old so I don't hold much chance that anybody will reply, but I'll ask anyway. Is this market in the same place as it was in the 50's and 60's? I lived in Stretford then. I have really good memories of walking there and back with my mother and Auntie every week (usually to buy a freshly killed chicken which you had to disembowel yourself). I recall the market and the friendliness of the stallholders vividly. I also remember in about 1956, seeing the sale of live pigs there. (Now 73 years old living in Australia)
This is the market that was situated on the corner of Railway Road and Greenfield Avenue, and certainly looks to be a market that was constructed in the early 1950s, so I would say it is the same one (a lot of this is before my time!). Unfortunately the external stalls were removed around 4 years ago, with plans to extend the interior market, however as of today the land is still vacant. Only the internal stalls of the market still exist; the rear end that used to lead directly to the market has been filled in and a small stall covers the entirety of that end now. Hopefully that helps answer your question, and thank you for sharing such fond memories of the market.

@@User-lw9pt Thanks a lot for the reply. I'm pretty sure that's the same location. I'm glad to know it still exists. Cheers.
