  • Time to spill the tea. Fast fashion brands like Zara and Fashion Nova have many of the same flaws. For starters, they are known for creating clothes with the intent of it falling apart! You may think you're buying a quality item simply because the company is well known or because you paid good money for it, but Fast Fashion is ALWAYS cheap. And cheap clothes are NEVER worth it!

    Not only cheap but its a company that literally bullies its employees. From the production to the sales assistants. They have sketchy practices to bully the employees into working for free and giving up on their rights. That's why the employees are so grumpy, and that's why the employees are so disengaged that the nice coat you boutgh was probably dragged all over the floor in the stockroom on its way to the shop. That workplace is hell.

    I can confirm the bullying of employees. I had first hand experience as a sales associate and they literally expected new workers to do and learn everything. To cut wage expenses, they now force every sales associate to learn how to do checkouts when there used to have an actual cashier team that knew how to handle money properly. You can literally return your items within a month just to have another person buying it again and returning it again. Customers can try on a garment until they look like a rag and still have it in the showroom.

    I completely agree with how bad Zara is for the environment and their workers but I dont really agree on the designs and the quality, you really can find a variety of qualities. ive had Zara clothes for years that im still able to wear and I absolutely love some of their designs. so I think you were kinda unfair with the brand in that sense. it is one of my favourites and id still buy from them if it wasn't because of the sustainability and working conditions.

    It is Zara's fault, which is owned by INDITEX - the largest fashion retailer in the world. They do the contrary of they are supposed to do, they have a huge quantity of factories in cheaper labour countries, and of course, they never take responsibility. Lastly, they avoid a RIDICULOUS amount of tax. I suggest you research more because once you start reading, you'll see how the things they claim don't add up.

    I’ve been buying some Zara used or slightly used from eBay and they look great, but the fabrics suck. Especially those coats that are made to look like wool, but are polyester blend and starts piling only after a few wears.
    I have a lot of clothes and don’t wear the same thing often, but coming from a designer background, it annoys me these Zara items that are made out of cheap fabrics. Meaning I feel like I could only get like 15 to 20 wears and then toss out.
    It’s kind of ashamed bc I like their cuts and styles, but being made out of cheap fabrics really turn me off. Meaning even high end designer, if it doesn’t seem well made or great fabrics, I don’t want it or want to own it.
    I mean I take pride in my clothes and that also means to have something that’s made well.

    • @jacknjill3000
      @jacknjill3000 6 месяцев назад

      Oh and about design stealing. I used to date a Spanish girl from Spain back about 30 years ago and she had a uncle that had a clothing company and would go to Paris and Italy to view the fashion shows and steal the designs and copy. Of course this is like the concept now with these lower end stores, but back then stealing was not that acceptable as it is today. I mean it happened back then but not this widely bc many back then wouldn’t be caught dead in a latest designer item and have it to be a imitation
      I know things were different back then and why the designer craze boomed in the 80’s bc the designers were the only ones making the clothes that were incredible and the other options were the mass made stiff everyone had.
      That’s another thing ppl. did back then was to look and have something no one else had. To do that know, you have to spend thousand of dollars.
      So now with stores like Zara and H&M, when they come up with a new line, they sell thousands and even if it’s a great design, just knowing there’s so many of the same item is kind of a turn off for someone from the past. But unless you learned that or from back then, I guess it wouldn’t matter if you have something that so many ppl. also have. That’s why the designer craze in the 80’s blew up bc designer only made a few pieces and of you were lucky to get one or some, you felt very special having that item.

      @@bpom527 Well if you do not like Zara just don't go there. I do not know everything behind the making of the clothing. I am just not hypocritical. I do not know where Zara gets their material. But let's say 99.9% of big companies do businesses with undeveloped countries where people do not have the same working conditions that the developed countries have. Still you and me and everyone buy their products, mainly because you have an IT device where you saw and gave your opinion. Have you asked yourself where everything on it came from and from what cost? The thing is, if we can call ourselves developed it is because other places are not. Do I like the idea? No! Do I like to know that countries like Congo have permanent war/conflicts because they have lots of minerals that we use over here and those conflicts help big companies get theirs goods very cheap? I don't? Will I be accusing only Zara on this game? No! Do I have the means to stop all the injustice in this world? I don't! But I try to do my best, like recycling and use all my products to the full, never throw away a mobile before it does not turn on, and so on. I just try to see the bigger picture, because if it not Zara it will be something else. My clothes from Zara last a long time, I try to use them to the full.

It only gets better when we take a stand. Just like Anna taking a stand for women being more feminine.
