    Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences! I'm in the midst of this year's JET Program cycle, and this all sounds kind of like I expected. Here's hoping I can make it over there!
    Love the cat cameos as well 😸

    Thank you for the informative video! I move to Japan in less than a month to be an ALT so I'm nervous and excited and this video helped! It won't be my first time there but it will be my first time actually working there so I will do my best!

      @@CapsuleBunny (late response I know sorry) but I actually clean the hallways with her everyday and chat about a bunch of random stuff. She lived in New York before so we constantly teach each other stuff about language lol.

      @@chrisl2773 Sorry for the slow response! Your experience is heavily dependent on placement and your school but I've really enjoyed it. I'm nervous in most social situations but i've gotten used to it over the last few months. I love talking about language and it's always fun chatting with the students and faculty! During regular school days i'm fairly busy, but any special days like tests or exams I have almost nothing to do so I study, read books, or recently started learning how to draw. I can give more specifics if you want but don't want this reply to be a whole novel lol.

    Excellent Video.
    You made some great points. I agree that becoming an ALT is one of the most accessible pathways into Japan, yet it's undeniable that the majority, if not all, dispatch companies leave much to be desired. It's genuinely advantageous to enter Japan equipped with a specific skill set and then seek employment while teaching. According to my friends' experiences, transitioning between jobs in Japan while holding a visa is considerably smoother than attempting to secure employment in Japan from abroad.
    Once again, kudos on the Awesome video!

    I love your videos so much, they are very informative (but also entertaining). I am planning to move to Japan the coming year so your videos bring me a lot of comfort, they are like little tutorial videos of how things can go lol.
    I was wondering if you could maybe make a video about work clothes for ALTs/ Teachers? Maybe like what you usually wear and if different types of schools have different rules etc.?
    Sending lots of love~

    Have you come across ALTs who do not have a college education? I skipped college and went right to work, not sure if that's a disadvantage. Maybe tutoring could be an alternative. I don't need to worry about visas or the like because I'm a citizen, thankfully- just thinking about how to earn money while I'm settling down in Japan. I've saved up for years but the money may go faster than I planned for.

    • @CapsuleBunny
      @CapsuleBunny  2 года назад +4

      I have actually! You normally need the degree in order to get the visa so if you don’t need the visa then it’s very possible to get a job without :)

    Around 5:30 when you say there’s nothing to do. Are you not able to bring a laptop and work on something else during that time like coding or browsing the web? Do you really just have to sit there in silence and stare into space??

    • @CapsuleBunny
      @CapsuleBunny  11 месяцев назад +1

      You 100% cannot work on a laptop with work that’s not related to work :(
      But some schools might let you study Japanese on paper

    Hiya!! Thanks for such an informative and helpful video. I have a question for you/anyone else with ALT experience;
    Do you think tattoos will greatly affect how I am perceived in a Japanese school? I am a heavily tattooed and pierced person. I will always cover them up in school hours and take my piercings out before arriving in Japan, but of course I may be seen with my inked skin around town. I understand there is quite the stigma due to gangs being associated with tattoos, but do you think this opinion is changing/different for foreigners? Or will I run into great trouble?
    I admire your fashion sense, by the way!! :)

    • @CapsuleBunny
      @CapsuleBunny  Год назад +2

      My advice is to not tell anyone about your tattoos! It’s very hard to get hired here with tattoos but as long as you cover them it’s fine :)
