I've seen him perform condor ave twice and he replaces "thats the one thing that he could never do" with "thats the one thing that I could never do" in both performances. Really interesting
Full band Elliott is my favorite Elliott. I love it all though. He had so much more of this great music to make before he died, but Im just glad we got what we got. RIP Elliott
Yeah, love that tone. He seems to really like the ac30. But I noticed he’s playing a TopHat which sounds a lot like the VOX. Does the ac30 sound better? Anyone have an opinion?
Holy shit this is such a good show/set. There's even some of the best Figure 8 songs mixed in there! This might be my favorite full band performance of his.
I feel like it could be a radio hit if it was cleaned up a bit. Not sure if leaving the “sick exchange” part in would be a good idea though. But yeah eff the radio anyway.
people think his music is all sad acoustic stuff, but they dont realize Elliott could really rock. He could have been just as popular writing standard rock or punk rock
@wlndbeach ya it's was such a irritating thing to be stuck around as the endnof mill into genz with a Jan 1995 bday Gave me the lucky situation tho to experience teen suicide and many others literally before they became even close to underground famous and chat on fb with many artist thay nowadays are considered pioneers and no longer accessible to reach out with because 2011-2012 to now is way different ofc which is that of life from time always.. but anyways good recommendations Hopefully he checks them out
It’s just nothing when you die. Remember before you were born? It’s like that. I’ve been dead like 4-5 times from mixing opiates and benzos, maybe soma or promathezine tossed in, or some ganapentin. It’s just like waking up from the deepest blackness ever. Dreamless sleep.
They were particularly tight that night as a band. Great electric rendition of each song. Maybe my favorite era of his.
Were you there that night? Please share your experience 🥹🥹

I love you Elliott ❤
25:15 - the breakdown, the backup vocals from janet, the es330 growling through the cranked ac30, just perfect.

36:32 It's just a brief smile crossing his face. Love u Elliott
He always sounded great with Quasi, I think. His voice worked so well with Janet's too
Unbelievable. Best Division Day imaginable.
the vocal harmonies at the end of Happiness!

Division Day should’ve made it to an album. It’s melodic and catchy as hell.

This is my new favorite Elliott Smith video.

janet weiss
Anyone know if the backup singer is still alive and where he is now
i believe he’s playing with quasi here, and they’re still playing
@@okumay The bassist, Sam Coomes, and the drummer, Janet Weiss, released a new Quasi album in 2023.
Waltz is for sure about a woman that doesn't see her own shallowness❤
And his mother, apparently.
@@edpoe1108 makes sense
He has admitted that it’s about his mother. She was a singer.
Division day sounds great live, the recording, not so much...
I could close my eyes and know a girl was playing drums here hahahaha. Wild.
dumb
