Cid Highwind is my fave character from FF7. Sure, his characterization starts off rocky, but I could always identify with a man who dreams, and then works so hard to make that dream a reality. His character arc is wonderful, his support to the team coming in clutch. He and his people are the genesis of fantasy-NASA, and space and exploration and flying. Just ugh. Also... gosh his theme is one of the best. And you've done such a beautiful job capturing the dream in your arrangement. Just wonderful. Thank you! I have such high hopes for his portrayal in the Remake's eventual sequel(s) and THIS is exactly what I hope to hear. Best cover of his music ever!
Coming back to the this video a few years after first watching it and a run of FF7 being fresh in my mind, the visual of Gaia's relation to the song finally clicked with me somehow. It's Cid looking at the planet from his escape pod, identifying each location as he gets closer and closer, and him realizing the planet isnt so large as he thought, but so small, like a child, shivering and scared in the cold universe. It's so beautiful. Im not sure if that was the original intent but I cant see any other way how it isnt. Listening to the song itself while this realization hit me, hit me really hard man. I can just feel what Cid must have felt in that moment. His dream. His epiphany. His determination rising. Powerful and immserisve stuff. Thank you for the visual.

Coming back a year later, I just realized that there's a big continuity error in your animation. In the game's finale, Meteor very explicitly falls directly on top of Midgar. But in this animation, right at the cut to black at the end, Midgar is on the visible side of the Planet, turned away from Meteor. Given the speed of the Meteor and the Planet's rotation, it's unlikely that the impact will even occur on the correct continent.
