Dr Bolin, I need you to know that - of all the medical lecturers on the internet I've learned from (and believe me I've seen all the good ones) you're by far the most coherent, engaging and effective teacher. I listen to your lectures all the time, even to and from the hospital, and it makes the trip so much more bearable - even enjoyable! haha. One of my favourite things about your style is that sometimes, as you're teaching a certain topic, I think to myself "oh, what about __x__ or what about __y__?" and, without fail, you have thought of those questions and you address them every.single.time. Anyway, I don't want to drag on, but if you're reading this comment, I want you to know that I am extremely grateful for your continuing work and passion for teaching, as are many of my fellow viewers I'm sure!
Your hypothesis about the middle east is true. Sexual practices are the reason why cervical cancer's incidence in the middle east is as low as the rich western countries despite the relative poverty and the relative lower standard of medical care. I am from Egypt.
Dr. Bolin, truly amazing lectures videos.By far, you continue teaching medical students around the world in depth medical lectures that are knowledgeable and retainable for in the preparation for boards. Thank you very much
You rock doc!!!... wish i could just have a brain transplant right now...lol... never have i been thought gynecology so good like the way you address each section in your videos.. when i go through my notes from your lectures, i sometimes hear your talking in my thoughts as i read the notes... You are truly amazing and a wonderful teacher.
I haven´t lookt this up but one of my professors hypothesized that the lower incidence in the middle east also had to do with circumcition. Harder rougher skin around and behind the glans harder for virus to attach. Thanks for an amazing content! Cheers J-O Dahlberg
I need help I'm disabled and I'm overweight with diabetes I have lost 8 lb I don't know where and I did the biopsy where they said abnormal cells were on my cervix I at the exam I had blood on my cervix and they're trying to do a leep procedure to remove the cancerous cells I'm having extreme itching and burning extremely nothing is stopping it what could I do for this kind of pain I hope they're not watering down the this situation when I'm in such pain the problem is are they provided transportation but I need to find someone to help me to be there cuz they have to sedate me for this procedure and I don't have anyone to be there so the prayer is that God remove this and I don't have it no more and but hopefully someone would come be there but I'm wondering how to stop that it changing burning it's really red in my private area it's embarrassing
Afhanistan is not in the middle east. saudi arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE are in middle east and they are very rich stable countries. I love your lectures
Dr Oiwoh is great. He has been very attentive to my health issues. I have had complicated health problems and he has addressed them all. He is very kind and patient. I am very grateful for him..
Thanks, that was such a great lecture!! I have a question on this content: If PAP IV, Bethesda HSIL, CIN 2 or CIN 3 is detected, and a conisation/LEEP or LEETZ is done, how often is the outcome already cancer then instead precancerous cells? Is there a percentage out there? Thanks for your information.
I'we listened to the video and about two women around 20th minute. My boyfriend's wife died from carvic cancer. I noticed, after 8 month, a little blister lets say on the vagine, I doubt to have also HPV. I did Pap 6 months ago, it was ok (but how knows). I tend to do HPV genotype test, according to you, is it a good idea? How to prevent cervic cancer? I am afriad. I am 38, I still haven't had childeren and didn't try to have.
hello dr Bolin, I'm from middle east, and yes the lower incidence of cervical cancer there is because our sexual practice, as you know all the countries in the middle east are Islamic countries, and in islam marriage is the only permitted sexual relationship.
Well, I don't know about that. Just because someone is part of a religion doesn't mean they follow it all the time. I've seen this up close and personal. Further, religion/Islam doesn't explain the similarly lower rates in North America. I think circumcision plays a bigger role, as it greatly reduces the likelihood of harboring HPV and inoculating female partners.
you are right, but as a citizen in this area I think that the lower incidence ""here"" is because of Islamic rules about marriage and sexual practices, and it might be for another reason in north America. Yes, being a part of relation doesn't mean they will follow it all the time, but here in the middle east the majority do especially in cases of marriage and relationships.

I think the 'promiscuity' stance on cervical cancer / HPV risk exposure should be steered away from now. Not something that is taught now.

You didn't tell the management of stages Ib1 and Ib2.
21 every 3 years that's what i thought and what i have been taught, now you say every one year until 30. I am not sure what to choose.
Super lecture. Thank you!

Do we do colposcopy only after high risk types of HPV ? Or after any kind of HPV variants?
