    My Dad was a driver of these locomotives. He drove 5924 and 5925 till 1972. Late Mr Ajmer singh Sandhu. Mombasa Nairobi line. Brilliant 59 Garretts built in Manchester.

    Born and bred in Kenya. My late father worked for Railways. He received an MBO on retirement. Sixty years service never had sick leave in his life. Never had a time piece in the house could tell the time with arrival or departure of these beauties Garrat steam locomotives E A R.

    It's amazing they got there old locomotives running. So cool. I've only seen them at the museum static. I appreciate them more now than when I was a kid. I lived in Kenya for 5 years, but that was awhile ago. It's crazy how so much has changed. Modernized

    Wow, great. My dad worked for EAR& H for 20 years. He would talk about the class Beyer-Garratt. Was this the loco, or the two extra wheels front and back of the loco.He's passed now so I can not ask him. Thanks - A santa sana.

      My father drove 5914.5924 and 5925 till 1972 in Kenya .EAR and Harbours.Based in mombasa.Running MOMBASAto NAIROBI route.

    my father joined the railways in 1924 and retired in 1958.
    the GM OF THE RAILWAYS WAS AS GOOD AND AS POWERFUL AS THE GOVERNOR.
    YES. TRUE. AND HE HAD ALL THAT IT TOOK TO RUN THE COUNTRY.
    THOSE WERE DISCIPLINED MEN
