Anywhere in S.E.A is safer! If you lose your documents, there is an embassy to help out! In Pakistan, the Middle East, Afghanistan or Iran, or countries where we do not have a mission, its risky! In countries like Iran, even if you have diplomatic immunity, you can be interrogated without informing your head of mission, and you can be sent to prison without anyone knowing! A country like Georgia is independent and you have been there for a trip! We do not have a mission there! If you lose your travel document you are stuck. The nearest place is Ankara and you cannot leave Georgia without a travel document! However, the risk is even greater, now that there is a war between Russia and Ukraine. Part of the population in Georgia are pro Russia and part pro Ukraine and if there is unrest, you are caught in a conflict zone! You now have members of your group who are flying drones in places where they visit! This is a real risk! You as organizer may not know they are carrying a drone. In many countries, they may arrest him as a spy and you, the organizer, may end up with a long imprisonment term and our government cannot secure your release. Pakistan is a good example. When Osama bin Laden was given refuge in Pakistan, no one knew!~ Not even their Government. It was only through intelligence sources that the information was obtained by the Americans before they raided the house where he was occupying and killed him! In countries like that the local Govt does not know everything. The intelligence apparatus operates differently from the Govt or even the military! On a different issue, in Muslim countries, if a non-muslim dies in an accident, you may not find a crematorium to have the remains cremated and the ashes sent home. Planes may fly only once a week to our country! It may be difficult even to find a coffin to place the dead person in. I had such an experience in Istanbul! I had to use a second hand coffin to place the remains in, send the body to be cremated in another country and eventually arrange for the ashes to be sent home! Think of all these issues when you next have a trip but stay safe! I want to hear more of your travel adventures!
