Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing project.
So, full disclosure, the fabric for this dress and a couple other things were bothering me so bad that if I was not filming I might have tossed this project. But, in the end it is a nice and very wearable dress. I edited out an abundance of sighing though, because no one should have to hear all that.
Also, just a heads up, there are no instructions, diagrams or anything about putting in the side zipper. I ended up going with a standard zipper instead of invisible because I had a nice matching one of the right side. OK! Hope you like it!
    ~Marie

No other channel actually teaches how to sew. These videos are for viewers that look to learn. I prefer this over Sewing with Nancy, because Nancy goes too fast for me. I like the improvisational, real-time narration one gets from these videos. Here I can learn about how to use the pattern and the instructions together to build experience for new skills. I just keep getting better the more I watch…. and buy tools…go used and vintage when you can for sustainability, please! My top youtube channel.❤

Love that you use your vintage machines, usually a different one, in your sewing videos. It's encouraging for your viewers to see that we don't need fancy, expensive new machines to make pretty things. Thank you❤

You look fantastic Maria, and I think you’re right, instead of cutting the size 18 bodice your size 16 would have been tailored to your body, but I prefer the little more room for comfort too. Thank you so much for your in depth tutorials! I appreciate the time you’re explaining step by step instead of a short snippet here and there with that annoying music, and the 1,000 x speed clippings. You’re also my favorite RUclips sewing guru, genius, Bucolic life personality. If I ever meet you in person, I’ll be asking for your autograph!

I love the vintage look. Now all you need a little pill box hat and some white gloves, and you could be part of the Red Hat Society 😄 I think that'll look really cool during the holidays. I have learned from watching this channel that patterns and clothes for women are a lot more intricate and need a lot more adjusting than men's patterns. Maybe one day I'll be able to make a cute dress for one of my sisters and use something I learned from this channel to help me along the way. Keep creating. I love to watch!

Oh the trials of the sewing room , I’ve had to go out to the curb and bring in a garbage bag….root through it for my sewing room garbage and retrieve my expensive Kai scissors that mistakenly got “cleaned up” 😂, I never did find the missing full bottle of fray check though

What a beautiful dress, the color combo and vintage buttons really say “Vintage”. Some things happen for a reason because that zipper is perfect for the style period. Though the fabric was fiddly, the drape is gorgeous❤❤❤. I love everything about this dress. Thank you for sharing another great project🧵🪡👗✂️

Sausage arms? Nuh-uh, your arms are perfect - and they help do a lot of wonderful work making this world a better place too. You can't help but build a bit of muscle when you take apart and lift and carry and suspend for painting etc, etc vintage sewing machines. And that's not to mention everything else they do. Long may they continue their excellent service! (I'm so glad youtube is working properly for me again now - I really missed you while I was gone!)

Another great dress... It's so frustrating that you didn't realize how difficult she fabrics will be to use until you're too far into a project to turn back. The fit is great & looks really good on you! Thanks for another great video! Keep up the great work... So many of us truly appreciate your attention to detail & help with instructions & narration.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this pattern. I agree this pattern seems not very suitable for the beginner unless they have the perfect body type perhaps? Still very good video on how to make some adjustments if needed. Lovely color fabric, too. (I’m commenting mid video, so will probably edit after I finish watching-as I typically do.😊) Your dress is quite pretty

I made this dress very early on in my sewing journey lol and everything you stated about this pattern is spot on. I made so many adjustments and the final dress fit well and was beautiful however, knowing now what I do, I would definitely do things differently. I may have to revisit this pattern as I re purchased it about a year ago and you’ve inspired me to give it another go. ❤ love your videos Marie!!

I like the contrast of the collar with the matching belt. If I remember right, you went a size up on the front. Maybe if the front panels had also been sized up, then the bodice and skirt might have matched up closer in the front. In any case, it came out great.

Pretty! red is your color. It looks like a dress my mom would have worn before she got into Jackie Kennedy! Question: Do the new vintage patterns have the original instructions or have they been modernized or made easier? I've just made one 1960's pattern. It seemed fairly easy.
