Once Upon Katamari actually has that option but it feels soooo unintuitive to me.
The twin stick controls is pretty integral to the feel.
Now that they gave the option to make the dash into ZL button it's even more amazing to control.

oh you mean the thing people majorly overreacted to and is insanely easy to do? get the chunks in the shrines and the gibardium chunks with power bombs. otherwise just run through them when you're going place to place. you only need half the crystals to beat the game unless you're getting the gallery unlock.

Well, I'm not a game developer, but I'd like to know if it's completely true that some games truly run better on the Switch 2 when they're read directly from the internal storage, or if some major titles cannot fit in a single Game Card, with titles like Star Wars: Outlaws and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade it kind of makes sense apparently

I think that one thing Scott will be sad to find out is that a lot of the locations in Prime 4 are very linear and not exactly Metroid like they were in the past Prime games
Yeah. I dont mind the characters that much. My favorite prime is prime 3. But I just can't stand that im walking straight for the whole game. Its like baby's 1st metroid
Yeah that's the main problem. The characters made me cringe at times but the core issue is the level design. It's all straight lines. There is a sequence in the mine that is just moving forward with NPCs, shooting enemies, moving forward and it's like the whole area.
Scott, I think being a "Switch 2 Edition" means running natively on the Switch 2, so it's essentially a port. All the other games that got Switch 2 "updates" are more there to either unlock frame rate or bump up the resolution, but when they have to do more that you cannot do with the backwards compability then it's in need of a Switch 2 edition
The take that switch 2 editions are somehow worse than the wii u ports is insane to me, they do more to the games in the switch 2 editions and it's only like a $10-20 upgrade. The Wii U ports on the other hand had only a couple of changes most times and were full price.

I can see people not enjoying air riders because of the control scheme and the fact it forces the one button mechanic which feels like a hindrance sometimes. I still like the game but i cant really justify that decision and to some its off putting enough to keep them from playing. Mkw controls and plays like a dream in comparison to the previous games in the series. I can also see people not liking the content in mkw and preferring air riders. Both games are flawed but are great games with a ton of quality content.

I fully replayed BOTW on the Switch 2 and it was amazing all over again. The game is absolutely stunning now, there were times were I’d just walk slowly admiring the beauty of the game

i'm not surprised, every left handed person i know (myself included) had to learn to use a mouse with their right hand. i can't even begin to use mice with my left hand.
that being said though, it's incredibly disappointing they don't have a left-hand mouse mode. the left joycon 2 has mouse capabilities just like the right one does, right? should have been hella easy for them to add that support into prime 4.

But what I think the main problem is with them not making mouse mode available for the left joy con in prime 4 is the layout of the right joy con with the analogstick being closer to the bottom which isn't very practical to hold and use the analogstick at the same time.

On an unrelated note, I don't think the people asking for an official translation know what they're getting into. No modern translation of that game done by Nintendo is going to be as good as the fan-made one, you're just asking for a worse version of the game you can already emulate.

About the closest thing we’ll get to Scott year in switch vids for some time
Best way to think about virtual game cards is allowing individual Switch consoles to access specific games without verifying online every time. I have a bunch of classic games loaded to my Switch Lite that I take out and about (Megaman Legacy Collection, for example) while still leaving my Switch 2 at home as my primary console. MML doesn’t need to authenticate online when I’m away from home, and I don’t need to worry about carrying my bulky Switch 2 case places. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. Could it be made a lot clearer and easier to understand? Definitely.
I'm interested in hearing Scott's final thoughts on MP4. I was more optimistic like him shortly after finishing the first Volt Forge visit (which is where he is based in B-roll), and my expectations have only been on a downward trajectory since.

I mean yeah, a lot of Prime 4's biggest faults only really hit towards the end. Like the crystal hunt, the story/Sylux, the last to maybe second last areas in general. The first half is really much better I think.
(Although I personally quite liked the game overall, probably more than most)

Not gonna lie, if someone told me in person that they wanted an open world Metroid game I would look at them like they just asked for a linear Elder Scrolls game.
Not every Game needs to be Open World. some Games are part of a Genre that doesn't depend on Open Worlds, Metroid is one of those Games.
For Prime 4 I had to get a third party mouse grip and remap some of the buttons, I was committed to using mouse mode just because it was so fun

This might be the most I've seen Scott complain about Nintendo. It was a pretty controversial year, but it's interesting to see how people complain about some things more than others. Like Scott seems real pissed about Virtual Game Cards, but is warming up to Game Key Cards. Yet outside of that sentiment, I probably agree with a lot of what he said. Heck, even I'm upset about needing to "eject" a digital game from one console in order to play it on another, but this was the first year I even tried 2 consoles. So I don't know if that was easier before.
It wasn't like Nintendo had any major stinker that ruined the company. It was, rather, many paper cuts. My biggest complaint this year might be the fomo events added to the DK Bananza DLC. Like, the game just came out on a brand new console and you want us to pay for the DLC, complete the game and play exclusively on holiday weekends just to unlock unique statues unattainable anywhere else in the game? That's just a jerk move.
DK Bananza was incredible but the entire time i played through it recently, all i could think was "they already have dlc for this". it's nowhere near an old game and they had that dlc locked and loaded as if it was originally supposed to just be part of the game.
Paper cuts is right. I don’t see the value in Switch 2 myself and I urge others to consider a while if it’s a large purchase they’re going to be happy with in the long run with how expensive it all is (it wouldn’t be cheap regardless, gaming’s an expensive hobby, always has been, but seriously, about $50 or $10 less on the console, or mariokart, would have made all the difference. It’s not all black and white, but i’m just disappointed that Nintendo is joining the pack with the other major gaming companies to screw us over as much as possible. They already overpriced before but it’s getting ridiculous now.

I really thought that Prime 4 was going to be like a Metroid Dread for the prime series. Just taking everything we love about Metroid and cranking it up to ten, and taking the more annoying things and enhancing them.
Instead it’s more like a Samus Returns. Yeah, it’s Metroid Prime. But it doesn’t properly display the qualities that made me fall in love with Metroid in the first place. It checked a lot of the boxes, I’m glad it happened, and it had some real highlights, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for.
That’s the most respectful opinion on the game I have heard.
I haven’t played Prime 4, but I thought Samus Returns and Dread were of similar quality, which makes sense because they’re developed by the same team
I mean, at least Samus Returns is a pretty quality remake of Metroid II, even if it's held back by the structure of the original.

As a mouse-user for Prime 4 I highly recommend a third party mouse grip and to play in 120fps mode. The combat design doesn't lend itself the most for the control scheme but it's still the best way to play. Also mouse acceleration is on by default so turn that shit off immediately when you can.

As someone who has been negative on Nintendo in recent years, I agree as well. The negative youtubers were fishing for viewership so hard it could've forced governments to list Nintendo as a protected species of whale. There was no end of reddits created with "facts" that either were quickly disproven, or completely unrespectable and opinionated. They earned their mockery. And the positive ones were so tone deaf to the extreme with their videos not seeing consumer issues it resulted in aggressive backlash and in some cases, made those RUclipsrs back down so bad in the other direction it caused a second wave of backlash due to not being their own damn people with their own opinions. Again, I'm a negative commenter by some peoples measures on the issue. I'm grown up enough to admit that. But I don't want bootlicking to appeal to my frustration, nor will bootlicking a company that actively doesn't care about positive PR help things either. I found both sides totally insufferable. I could only imagine how someone like you with an actual attempt or neutral viewpoint must've struggled being in the middle of all this @PixelPikmin! :(

I just started my switch 1 library I’ve been collecting while I wondered when they’d release a console that could actually play the games.
Weirdly enough, 2025 brought me back to Nintendo with the Switch 2. Is some of the pricing (especially games) stupid? Yes. But I get Chinese copies of games (that automatically turn into the English version when inserted) on AliExpress for like $40 cheaper so it doesn't matter.

Totally agree man, the Switch 2 discourse in 2025 was just an exhausting experience overall. It really made me rethink how I consume gaming media and brought to light just how much slop there is on the RUclips gaming space in regards to coverage and discussion. I don't like what Nintendo is doing in the slightest, but I hate misinformation and unwarranted mud slinging even more. Both the people on the extreme side against and in defense of Nintendo was just straight insufferable.
i think it’s because for many years, nintendo was THE company to defend in terms of quality and output (even when it wasn’t deserving). so the outpouring of negativity probably has to do with it being the first time it’s been acceptable online to hate on them without being silenced by toxic positivity.

The thing about the playtest is that nintendo has asked for people to not talk about with others or on videos, so if scott did make a video about it nintendo would immediately politely ask him to take it down

1:00:53 it’s so funny bc while I agree, I’ve already put more hours into the short time of owning the Switch 2 than I did the 8 years of owning the Switch 1. I don’t know what it is; as you said the novelty isn’t there. I looked at it like your phone analogy, except more like the PS4 and Xbox One to PS5 and Xbox Series; they’re fantastic upgrades to what’s currently out there, but your mileage will vary based on many factors, how much of the previous library you’ve played being a big one.

I like the idea of playable Groose in hyrule warriors, but my main criticism is whyyyyy did they make Agatha playable when there were way better options in twilight princess? She’s a completely optional, story-irrelevant character and she is no fun to play as. I think they should have included Yeto and/or Yeta. They could have had the ball and chain for a weapon!
