Love this.
Australia here. Loved on a farm till I was 15 years old. Then went to the big city to work and live. Took me 20 years before I woke up and said, What am I doing here. Moved back to the bush and been happy since.
My story is very similar. I am so happily hooked on wilderness!
Licky you, that you had that possibility.
@@rayodeluz6759 You do not?
Smae deal brother, i grew up on a small holding farm in the 1960's after the marriage collapsed i moved to Tasmania and live in the north west , it really is a step back in time and so are the people, back to a time where i could find a place where i fit.
Fellow Aussie, and can relate. Living in the guts of South East Queensland or South East Queue I call it now rots the soul. Can't wait to spend a year or so living on the road and in nature, costs here eating into the hard work to achieve this but it feels existential to achieve
"I like all the animals...all the animals, except the tick." Preach brother! 😂
we have so many ticks here in the woods at my home that it really ruins it. a shame. I went up north for a bit to fish and there was not a single tick on me all week even though i was walking through brush a lot. such a freeing experience

Bjorn, hope your heart always remains off-grid!✌
Nature has been humanized in much of the US. No grizzlies to worry about. Still, though not so wild with big trails etc. it is much better than no nature. I am old, and Texas is hot, but at least I can walk the dog in the mornings. The coyotes are gone and now there are bunnies aplenty.
@@charlestaylor8624 That's too bad about the coyotes. People tend to want to wipe things out that are a nuisance or a bit of a threat. I know they're around in the desert area of Utah i live in. I usually have a few deer visit most days and a family of raccoons come for the cat food i leave out at night. I know what you mean about the trails, especially in some national parks where they're paved. It's almost better just to walk a few hundred yards off the road somewhere. Best wishes.
Beautiful comment❤

So glad you were tuned in and knew to watch for more. 😊
@@jocr1971I’m so glad you could stop and thanks for your vigilance. Whenever I’m driving through wooded areas I always make a habit to constantly look ahead for signs of deer or other animals trying to cross the road.
Thanks Bjorn for another great video. I’m a new subscriber and have really been enjoying your content😊
Love it when animals feel comfortable. I once walked into a farm by accident and all the sheep started following me and making maaa maaa noise behind me like the whole herd lol 😂
I often get elk coming through. Just last evening a female came through with her two calves. They must have been born very recently because they still had their spots. I never knew they were born with them like a deer fawn is. It's always a joy to see them.
Escaping the noise is exactly what i need to reduce my anxiety
Lmfao.... Just because it works for YOU doesn't mean that it is a fit for everybody else. If you want to go off and shit in a hole because that calms you, then do it.
I have fairly bad social anxiety. Led to physical ailments. Moving to the woods cured all of that. Some of us just aren't designed for non stop bombardment of other people being around all the time. All. the. time.
If you can’t escape, run. It will ground you in a different, but effective way.
Same here. Not always easy to get out, anxiety can be paralyzing, but like te other day when I dragged my ass out and saw the fjord and vistas, I could literally feel a strong calmness and happiness just pooring in and tons were lifted from my shoulders and the stone in my stomach withered away.
Also, try what they call grounding, feeling sun warm stones and grass under your feet is simple and effective.

From the great John Muir: "In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks."
OH, I AGREE !
July 3rd, my kids and I, in a uhaul, left the overwhelming Denver Metro area and drove to our new home in a small town in Kansas. We don't hear or see, or even feel the things we did in a huge city. It's quiet here, we go to the little forest often at night. We don't see the horrifying things anymore, the tent cities filled with people completely gone on drugs, or the crime, things no child should see on a daily basis. I feel safe. For the first time in 33 years (how long i lived there) i don't worry about my kids being accosted by a druggie, or thug...they can run around a playground where there are no needles laying around. There's no trash anywhere, and people are genuinely kind! The air doesn't stink.
I have had a hard time getting used to this peace, this quiet. It's hard not expecting the worst when someone says hi while out on a walk. It's very hard getting the city out of me. But it IS getting out and I've never been so happy in my life.
Blessings to you for taking the leap. Sending you courage and strength. Me, my wife and 5 kids did a similar move back on the 1st of January. Left the city of San Diego to return to the land. 🙂
@@shamandave_ It is a beautiful thing!
I live in the forest/mountains of California. Most people think that Cali is just a beach and the 'bay area'.... or whatever. Most of the state is rural and red. The highest peak in the lower 48 is in California. I live near it.
Enjoy your rural freedom.
Growing tomatoes, lettuce, pepper, oregano, mint & garlic chives. Life is wonderful with nature around you.
Spent the day picking huckleberries. I love nature. I work in the woods. Have no social media. Only watch RUclipss like yourself to remind me I am not “odd”.
When I was a very young child, sitting under a tree on my grandmother's farm was so peaceful. I felt the tree was my friend. At 75 years old, I can still remember that feeling. Being still and quiet, listening to nature, and watching the birds and animals brings such comfort. So much beauty; so much joy.
I relate very much to what you described as myself and siblings were fortunate to have a similar experience. To this day we retain our connections with Nature and appreciate the love, care and teachings we received from our Grandmother those many years ago. ❤🙏 🌳🌲 🌱❤

Even forests are not remote enough from this strange society we're living in today.
I live in the forest on a piece of property that has been our family home fo over 120 years. Recently, a lot of rich people are moving in and buying up all the property. They have taken over local government and are trying to take my land by raising the taxes and passing all kinds of local laws to drive the old timers out. They have threatened to fine me $1000 a day until I let them take my property because the buildings that have been here 100 years are not up to the new codes they have forced on us. You are right, there is no place left to be free.
I grew up in rural Canada. For my brothers and I, the forest was our playground. We hunted, fished and foraged, made lean-to shelters. Not knowing anything different, I thought everyone lived like this. I learned how to paddle a canoe and skin a rabbit before I learned how to ride a bicycle. As an adult, I lived in the city doing a soul-crushing job and living in an apartment. Watching a coworker have a nervous breakdown in the office was my catalyst for change. I escaped in 2003 returning to rural Nova Scotia with my city-born wife reluctantly joining me. It didn’t take long to make her a convert after watching a white tail doe with a fawn in the backyard nibbling on our hostas. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
I'm glad that you and your loved ones have found your place in the world ❤
How wonderful 😊
It isn't where you are but a mindset...the minute you figure that out is the minute you find true freedom.

I live in a redwood forest in Northern California. It is very hot and dry in the summer. I have been supplying a trough of fresh water every day in the summer, for years. I see the same birds, honey bees, squirrels, foxes, skunks and deer drinking and bathing in the trough every day. I love to watch them. Maybe they aren't afraid of me, or maybe they just need the water, but they will come and drink even if I am reading out there.
