    Thank you for taking us "backstage" (so to speak). REALLY interesting to see the inner workings of the alterations department! Also, two things for future/current brides. One: Don't freak out if your dress doesn't fit perfectly when you go in for your first fitting. That is precisely what fittings are for and the alterations team can and will handle anything you need. Two: this may have been implied in the video, but you need to bring the shoes you're going to be wearing on your wedding day because you need to know if the dress needs to be longer or shorter. You don't want to go to your own wedding with your dress too short/long.

      It’s not that I need help, It’s just entertaining :). I pretty much always watch shows like say yes to the dress while I sew because I’m nerdy like that 😂. It’s always interesting and educational to see how others do things, as well.

    I found a second hand dress for super cheap and love it...but know its currently not my size but i have been losing weight and am super close...i know i will need alterations by the time the wedding is here in about a year...my biggest fear is losing too much weight and having to find a different dress

    • @MissHayleyPaige
      @MissHayleyPaige  4 года назад

      I understand your concern, beauty! I would try to fit it in stages as opposed to one big fitting if you think the adjustments will be drastic. It's better to go in stages when it comes to tailoring the gown :)

    Holy Moly! I gotta tell you, out of all the wedding related videos I have watched since being engaged this is probably one of the most helpful things I have ever watched.
    I recently got my dress. Your dresses may not have worked for me (but at least my bridesmaids will be rockin' them), and it definitely will need to be bustled which worried me because on things I can't stand about bustles is when it looks huge and like you have a bump or a tail. May be a bad explanation but to me that's what it's like. But that whole bustling portion when you talk about the types if bustles or even hem bustles was great! I feel so much more at ease for when my first fitting comes a long so I know what I can ask about.

    My curious question is, during the alteration process, when they are doing beading, is the dress not ordered out to the original designer and their team to customize the dress again for the bride? Hopefully that made sense. Because then it becomes a kleinfeld customized dress vs coming from the original designer, which is what the bride originally tries on? Right? Wrong? lol confused.

    • @MissHayleyPaige
      @MissHayleyPaige  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jessica! This is a very good question. Ultimately it depends on the dress, designer, and what Kleinfeld is willing to do. Although we want to be able to cater to all types of brides, it just depends on what they are looking for. As a designer, of course we always love it when the bride loves the gown AS-IS, BUT we also understand when she wants to raise a neckline, swap a bodice/skirt, or even add a sleeve. Most of these changes we can customize and do in the design house for them, but the gown will still need to be fitted and tailored to the bride (which is done at Kleinfeld). In some circumstances, the bride will be in her fitting and decide that she wants to add some sparkle or lace appliques, these subtle adjustments can sometimes be done at Kleinfeld since the gown is already in house and ready for adjustments. Hope that helps clarify a bit of the process and what is possible! My best advice is to always ask questions during your shopping experience about what to expect and what is possible when it comes to fitting the gown and making any custom/personal adjustments!

    I found a really lovely used Arden dress, but it's a size 6. According to my measurements I would be a size 2. Is that too much of a size difference to make alterations?
