Everything else seems puny and insignificant. Even when the fusion inevitably became painful, she would still crave the feeling of power. Lapis, in the other hand, had a different experience. She spent 5000-6000 years trapped inside the mirror. Building up anger, resentment, and hate for both sides (I always felt that she only returned to Homeworld because she had nowhere else to go). Malachite gave her an outlet to release all those pent-up feelings. And release them she did. Picture someone who has been physically and emotionally abused for so long. Now picture her discovering one of her tormentors, bound and helpless. Does she show mercy and forgiveness? Truthfully no. She most likely will inflict as much pain and suffering as possible. The problem with this is, the feeling of satisfaction from hurting someone who hurt you? Can also be addictive. Enough that you start seeking others to inflict it upon. This is the cycle of abuse. And Lapis was hearing it's siren call. But this is where she and Jasper differed. Where Jasper cared only about the power and dominance. Lapis saw the rage and cruelty. And she rejected it. Though not alone. She wouldn't have had the strength to, had Alexandrite not forced them to unfuse (a little lesson in not facing your demons alone). Do I feel sorry for Jasper? No, not really. Considering her worship of power, and her cruel dominance of others, it's all too clear what would happen if Malachite returned.
Jasper wants power because she is a perfect quartz soldier, her entire existence is based around being a strong warrior, so any chance she can to be stronger, she will jump on the opportunity
Damn this comic is spot on with the characters and the show. From the dialogue to the setting. This is a really good one that perfectly represents Lapis and Jasper
Jasper wanted to be stronger was all, but Lapis used their fusion to hold her down at the bottom of the ocean for months, over that time jasper became connected to Lapis in an unhinged way, but that wouldn't have happened had Lapis not held her back against her will.

Honestly this comic shows perfectly how I view their relationship. Toxic but Both of them made mistakes. And honestly I feel that Jasper Ended up worse than Lapis. Lapis Said she wanted to Fuse with her, than controled her and than left her. No Wonder Jasper is really hurt. Yes Lapis was hurt too but I think Lapis is just kinda a jerk. So all I want to say is... if we feel bad for Lapis, we should feel bad for Jasper too 🙏
