@@Panda_Slayer. No, he is Daan's father in law. After Daan's parents fell into the endless trance, Daan spend some time as a street kid trying to survive on his own. He ended up reluctantly opening a Sylvian healing clinic in which he used his "practices" for pay. Word about this kid spread around, and Eihner Von Dutch being a local aristocrat and part time doctor found interest in him. He wanted to learn how this child is able to heal so effectively.
One day Eihner went to Daan's clinic and confronted him with an offer, Daan should teach him these otherworldly means by which he heals, and in exchange he will take him into his care. Daan is 14-15 at the time and felt like this is an offer he couldn't turn down, so he moved in with him into the Von Dutch manor where he got a better roof over his head, certain luxuries and a private education, this is where he also started becoming friends and then romantic partners with Elise.
As he taught Eihner all he knew about Sylvian and the other old God's, Eihner started searching for more information about them elsewhere, getting very much obsessed with them to the point that when Daan was drafted into the war between the Eastern Union and Bremen Empire, he orchestrated or atleast took part in a Sulfur ritual during which he killed Elise and himself. Daan found both of them when he arrived at the manor and tried everything he could to revive her, and perhaps to a certain extent Eihner aswell.
They both appear in Prehevil and it is unclear if Daan was successful in his worship to revive them or if Sulfur was responsible for them coming back to life. If you ask me i would bet Daan was successful.
Sylvian seems to really care for the guy in ways she doesn't do for most of her followers. He doesn't like Sylvian and never wanted to worship her, but she gives him tremendous power anyway. In Termina there is lots of dialogue in which he expresses contempt for magic and the the gods but Sylvian always comes to his aid. Normally old gods wouldn't answer or would even punish people for the things Daan says, but Sylvian loves him anyway. O'saa and him have lot's of friendly interactions and i always found it a shame he never brings this up.
