That intro makes me wish they made an animated series. They had those short animations on the 3DS Eshop, but with the writers of this game and the voice actors giving it their all, they coulda done some great things. Also, that scroll is strangely satisfying to watch.
I’m still holding onto the hope that maybe whenever Sakurai finishes smash dlc (however much longer that is), maybe then he might plan a new Kid Icarus. Obviously it’s flimsy but it’s all I can think of. The guidances really have some interesting ideas and great character interactions so it would be a shame if a new game doesn’t come at some point..
Even 7 years later, I still can't get over how beautiful of a game Kid Icarus Uprising is. It was so early on in the 3DS' lifecycle and already looked better than even the best Wii games, and didn't have any performance drops even with 3D on. Back in 2012 I was in utter disbelief that such a game both as graphically ambitious and mechanically ambitious as Kid Icarus Uprising was something I was playing on a pocket-size Nintendo handheld.
Whoa cool, you can see the influence of Kid Icarus's difficulty mural and the one they did for Smash Ultimate, Sakurai always uses his games and its awesome!
Yeah there's a lot of similarities that carry over between games if you think about it. The usual minimalistic menu style Smash uses was originally in Kirby Air Ride. Smash 4 also has the difficulty slider as well.
THEY PUT THE LOGOS & STUFF ON THE BOTTOM OF THE 3DS ARE YOU SERIOUS 😂 This is like the precursor to that image of Builder Toadette with the absurdly high quality Joycon!
Oh! There’s a render that Nintendo did up of Builder Toadette holding a Joycon, and it’s so high quality that you can CLEARLY see the legal info and all that stuff. If you hop on Twitter & search “Toadette Joycon”, the first results are replies to a Supper Mario Broth Tweet which have the image attached.
OMG, when i played Kid Icarus for the first time on my 3DS, i still had that child imagination with me that made the areas outside the visible game, something that only my imagination could fill. Sincerily, i didn't expected this episode, but i'm really grateful to you for making it, you made me remember so many great things from when i played that game. Again, thank you a lot for this episode!!
Especially when looking at the scenery in HD in this video. The game looks fine on the 3DS, but the underlying models are much more beautiful than the 3DS can display, and if they just touch it up a tad, they could throw it on the Switch for everyone to marvel at.
I honestly don't know how they could change the controls. The aiming and camera work are intrinsically connected. It'd be super difficult to have any other controlling style, even with another control stick.
I bought this game when it got out and grinded the 101% it was challenging and fun. And in some chapters sometimes you discover new things/special conversations
It's great to see that you've become so much more knowledgeable. There's less speculation and what ifs. You've definitely utilized your knowledge gained from earlier videos to provide informative content of the style your channel has become known for. Great work.
I would've like to see what's like when Pit lands at the end of every flying section. Because I'm pretty sure some of those landing spots aren't as big as they're supposed to be, like Phosfora's lightning temple, so they probably shrink Pit as he's getting closer to the landing spot.
The Player Who Used It Is Launched Off The Screen, Followed By The Normal "GAME" Screen. Roughly 5 Seconds Later, The Player Is Tossed Back Down To The Map With A Final Smash Attack Charged.
I love this series. Keep up the great work! I LOVE seeing you've posted RIGHT when I get home from work! Time to kick back, eat some breakfast food for dinner, watch your stuff, and then binge some dbz abridged until I fall asleep.
I've never played this game but this episode was exceptionally interesting to me. It's so cool how creative they are to create illusions, such as that menu with the separate 3D scroll to make it look like its rolled up when really it's to the right. I appreciate the team work involved in creating games and making it work for us as well as your research and work to make these videos for us. I LOVE behind the scenes and glitches and it just expands my favorite games so much more, like I'm discovering bonus content or something lol. Thank you. Truly.
I just thought of something that I wish I thought of prior to the upload: the differences (if any) in Palutena’s projection model in chapter 18 vs her character model in cutscenes (mostly chapters 20 and 21)
This remains my favourite game of all time. Every time I reply it I still love it. And it was awesome not only to see the boundary break, but to see this game in HD. Damn I want a sequel on Switch!
The one Boundary Break I have waited for since this entire series began! Finally we get to see how all those master class flying scenes were produced on such a small console!
The solo screen isn't actually a half-cylinder but is actually a full cylinder with inverted normals (faces) so that the inside always shows rather than the outside. This is a common technique in videogame development, most commonly in indoor areas, maps, and skyboxes. It takes advantage of the optimization methods 3D engines use to only render one side of a polygon, and rather than add checks for objects or some other method like constant culling, game devs just take advantage of this by switching out the direction of the faces. It makes it so that only what needs to be rendered is rendered no matter the view and whatever is in the way of the camera is just not shown. It's pretty neat, but it's a huge hassle to fix if you're modeling a character and accidentally start with the wrong side of the first polygon (source: first time I ever modeled I had to abandon my project because of this). Edit: I'm fucking stupid, this is literally just what culling is and I was too stupid to remember the word.
Honestly, what amazes me the most is what parts of a game have a camera to move, or an enviroment to move it around in. It's kind of nice looking at even menus as setting for a stage play...
As much as i enjoyed KIU for its story i really loved light vs dark and the other multiplayer stuff. Seriously the multiplayer was surprisingly really good.
This is a really good series that is interesting AND informative. Educational in the way that aspiring game developers can see some of the tricks that their experienced predecessors are using.
Request For Boundary Break: Ghostbusters The Video Game I've always been curious to see what was outside the Firehouse! There looks like so much environment to see!
Dude! Not sure if you'll even read this, but I live your stuff man! Viewing the innards of these games is something I listen to, and play in the background, even had parties where I left a playlist of yours in, and had a drunken room of nerds wowin' out at! Keep up the great work bud! Best of luck!
Yay! I'm glad you covered one of the best Nintendo games of all time! So underrated! Also, I'm really hyped for your Smash Ultimate episode! The Brawl one is one of my favourites! Also the one that made me discover your channel!
I played through this game like 5-6 times when I was a kid and I played the online mode a ton too. This was probably the first game that me into liking harder games since I would just keep upping the difficulty after every playthrough.
I feel like the only person who never touched the included 3DS stand and never had a problem with the controls. Maybe years of Metroid Prime Hunters trained me for it. Anyway, great episode!
Redo this for the boss cutscenes. Where bosses are stored before appearing, a better view of the girl inside Dark Lord Gaol's armor after the helmet is knocked off, etc.
Your channel is incredible, you're a credit to the video game community, thank you so much for your work. I can't wait until I get out of college and get a job so I can support you on patron.
Can you do Bayonetta? I'm really interested to see what kind of secrets the game is hiding. Stuff like what the inside of the Umbran Resting Places look like before you open them, and some of the big angel bosses' different forms.
The fact that they actually animate Pit’s mouth moving whenever he has dialogue in game is amazing
That intro makes me wish they made an animated series. They had those short animations on the 3DS Eshop, but with the writers of this game and the voice actors giving it their all, they coulda done some great things. Also, that scroll is strangely satisfying to watch.
Garrulous64 a smash animated series would be lit
There's a couple of animes of Kid Icarus and other video games
I never got to play it
Someone broke my 3ds before i could 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
There actualy is an animee
Exactly imagine an anime introducing Hella new characters
Handheld game devs get crazy creative with those hardware limitations.
This was done by Sakurai. Of course he got creative.
Let's see how the handled the CoM, Coded, Days, and DDD limitations.
Did you find Kid Icarus: Uprising 2 in the game anywhere? Please?
Okay...
Isn’t Uprising technically Kid Icarus 3 already?
c0mpu73rguy yes
@@c0mpu73rguy Kinda. Of Myths and Monsters was never actually released in Japan so in many ways Uprising ignores it and considers itself Kid Icarus 2
J Hamron That’s a shame. M&M was a very good (but challenging) sequel. I found it very impressive for a game boy game back in the day.
Finally you do the best 3DS game.
Certainly is my favorite
*monster hunter 4 would like to know your location*
Its not SMT4...
That statement is correct.
It's only the best if you have 3 hands!

Finally a boundry break from my favorite 3DS game of all time
FAVORITE GAME
Man we really do need a sequel to this game

@@VexAcer that's true, good call!
Check out Kirby super star and smash brawl's subspace emissary ;)
They also did that for smash 3ds too.
Seeing Hades grinning behind the credits made my day. That and the low-poly Pit.
The true Kid Icarus mystery is:
Why haven't we gotten another Kid Icarus game in a while?
Christopher Moon more like Christopher Bloon
Smash Bros Ultimate is my favorite Kid Icarus gane.
Because Smash fans/Nintendo don't let Sakurai work in anything else other than Smash... And I'm saying that as a Smash fan. :(
That development team that made it disbanded
Zillion Taborda More like Sakurai doesn’t let Sakurai work on anything else lol. Most Smash fans I’ve seen want him to have a vacation
if emulators is how we can get HD-ish Kid Icarus then i will accept it, because this game is still amazing
"Sorry to keep you waiting!"
*Damn straight*
That animation at the beginning is just amazing! I love it!
Wow! Zoomouts are just gorgeous in this game, for a 3ds game there's a TON off details and of camera content. Thanks again shesez.
That intro was *fire*
I’m so happy you covered my favorite 3DS game of all time ;-;
Amazing episode btw
That animated intro gave me chills! Props to the animator!
Oh man. That Pit in the ship at the end is hysterical. I love low poly stuff like that.
Great work, Shesez! Excellent episode!
Shesez: "I don't wanna bore you talking by talking about menus for 10 minutes"
Me: I would literally pay you to talk about menus for 10 minutes.

In Splatoon, they also modeled the back of the amiibo box and translated all the text into squid language
13:40 more than just a Palutena tattoo, its classic Palutena! from her design in the NES game's booklet.
Kid Icarus Uprising is easily my favorite 3DS game. I hope it gets a port or a sequel on Switch.

No plans from Sakurai to do so sadly.
Use the mighty t h u m b .

I didn't even realize I had been waiting for this! It was SO good!!
A Boundary Break on one of the greatest 3DS games ever made! I love it!
Welp, guess now we can only expect a Chuggaaconroy/Shesez crossover episode at some point.
SlyForeigner Chugga never did get around to showing together mode in his Uprising LP...so that’d be perfect honestly.
@@PharrowlOG He's planning to cover it in the near future, according to the bonus video.
damn this aged like wine
Awesome. One of my favourite episodes of the series. Also, that lowest poly Pit is pure glory.
This is what all those fourth wall-breaking characters get to see.
Thank you for uploading this. Kid Icuras uprising is one of the best games I've ever played
Nintendo, give us some sort of Kid Icarus Representation on the Switch besides Smash Ultimate!
This is my favorite 3DS title and it is very cool seeing the settings and event this way :)

That'd be pretty cool because tomorrow is the franchise's 50th anniversary.

Mr. astar123 I hope they remake night of 100 frights
YES!
I was actually thinking about what a Boundary Break for Uprising would look like.
Now I know!
That intro was very well made!!
when I saw kid icarus uprising that was an immediate click and an immediate like
Hades shoulda been an assist trophy in ultimate. He could be like Resetti was in brawl but better.
Think "Hades' Misguidance"
The Player Who Used It Is Launched Off The Screen, Followed By The Normal "GAME" Screen.
