    Silicone based products like the rainx always have better repelling power initially but it quickly drops off compared to fluorine based such as the ultra glaco. You need to apply rainx very frequently to enjoy its initial performance.

      Excelent answer. I bought a big glaco and noticed it. In other liquids I noticed greater repellency, but it seems to be more durable. still in testing

      This is true. I've used both and my Rain-X bottle still has a bit left. For Rain-X, I'd have to apply maybe once a month at least, or once every two weeks if I wash my car regularly.
      Since I've switched to Glaco Ultra, I haven't needed to reapply it onto the windshield. It's been half a year and it's still beading like it's new. The only downside is, when the old coat of Glaco is no longer beading, I need to remove it with glass compound before reapplying a new coat of Glaco Ultra. Still beats having to reapply Rain-X regularly.

    Glaco is best one, when you applying Glaco almost immediately you wiping (cotton cloth only) other way is hard to clean up, and on applicator they say Do NOT use microfiber cloth witch is taking back your stuff from the window , I am using Glaco for couple of years and is best working for me, when driving in the city traffic, no need to use wipers on high speed at all, raindrops going away from windshield them shelf, as they said is one year performer, and is truth, regards from Australia

  • @vasts1479
    @vasts1479 3 месяца назад

    You used glaco ultra which lasts about a year (confirmed after using it in my cars). Rain x is more hydrophobic but it lasts about a month tops. A fairer comparison would be with glaco roll on which is designed to be more hydrophobic and lasts a couple of months.

    I love seeing these kind of tests, but you really need to strip the windshield of debris and contaminants to do a glaco protectant justice. I've tried both of these products, but using a auto gym glass cleaner just isn't going to get the base layer of chum off the windshield for the proper glaco to bind.

    Not sure it’s worth comparing the products on the windshield when the car is stationary. I’m only interested what happens when I’m driving, and when I’m driving I prefer Glaco Ultra on my car and Glaco DX on my van because I generally drive slower in my van 👍🏽

      Extremely well wrung cloth. Hard to get right. I found that using a wrung out cloth followed by a dry cloth worked well. Left me with glass that looked amazing.
      It took me a few attempts before I worked it out and it’s definitely more difficult to get right than all these YT videos make out.

    • @KenWeston
      @KenWeston Год назад

      Well in my experience it lasts longer than Rain-X, but perhaps isn't as hydrophobic. The problem I run into is very long rainy periods where it's never a good day to re-apply the Rain-X. @@MDrives Another interesting test is comparing brands in how they do with frost. A window that's never had a hydrophobic coating is *much* harder to clear of ice and frost. Fresh Rain-X makes it much, much easier and I presume that other products help too but I haven't really done that test.

    Have u notice that glaco has more beads its hydrophopic.. It only shows its better than rain x... Driving in rain is much better with glaco coz this repels more rain better than rain x... At low speed like 50km glaco repels way better than rain x....u need higher speed for rain x to repel the rain. Hosing the glass does not tell the whole story unless u drive it into the rain.
