I always thought the 25th anniversary game on the NES was really good. As a kid, it was overwhelming, but I remember my dad figuring it out and having a blast! He stayed up late beating it like a teenager!

I know others have already mentioned Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Starship Bridge Simulator for the SNES and Sega 32X, but they left out the best part, there was a cheat code in the SNES version that let You name Your character James T. Kirk and succeed in the Kobayashi Maru test. Btw the SNES game came out in 1994 and the PC game that had a similar name didn't come out until 1997, so the SNES version wasn't a port of the PC game.

I enjoyed the ST 25th for NES. A lot of RUclipsrs hate on it because it's hardish and a bit slow in places, but it's a classic point'n'clickish game. Had a lot of fun with it.
As for the TNG NES game, it's also fun enough, but once you've experienced all the mission types it gets a bit repetitive and tedious. When you've had the fourth mission in a row that's go to place A, beam up ambassador, go to place B, beam down ambassador, all you want to do is have something more fun to do. I'll give it points for trying to capture the feel of TNG in the sense that it goes beyond just shooting stuff, but it probably illustrates why a lot of Trek games have leaned into the battle elements.

It's a bit too early for the scope of this video, but my favourite version of Star Trek was the BASIC text version from the late 60s / early 70s. I used to spend hours warping around and running into stars, and many years later I learned enough BASIC to convert a listing for the PDP into one that worked on a computer I owned.
