The atmosphere of this was amazing for me as a kid. Gunfire, explosions, screams, crackling radios, EVA, an awesome industrial soundtrack, and the great attention to detail in the presentation (remember the installer)... all at once
I remember my best friend rented the game, he didn't care much for it but I had a blast. My family got our first PC shortly after and this game ended up being the first video game I ever bought for anything.
Young boys and girls don't remember. This was an excellent time to be a youn' gamer, not yet having to carry the burdens of society. Attitude complimented with a great soundtrack.
I started with RA. RA2 was better in every way. Renegade was good and generals while fun the graphics sucked and were too cartoony. All the super sci-fi/spacey ones sucks in my opinion (outside of renegade).
I played this with my father as a kid. We were both very impressed with even the installation. It was unreal to have a voiced-over installation process. Many a night were lost to this and Red Alert. I don't think I played any of the others, just those two.
Bo Danville Red Alert 2 was easily the best, for me, and CNC3 was amazing as well; did you not enjoy those? The series fell off with Red Alert 3 for me, personally.
I had this on a Macintosh Performa 550 in 1995. If I remember correctly the hardrive was 160 MB. It's wild comparing it to what's current. I loved that it had full motion video at the time even tho every other line of pixels were missing.
I soo remember this game... Let me tell you a little story: CIRCA 1995... We had a 386 DX 40 mhz, with 4mb of ram. I was the younger one of my two brothers. Around 1992 or so (I don't really recall the exact dates) I played (pirated) Dune II, my brothers thought it was a silly game. The very FIRST RTS game, mind you, just a bunch of units on a minimap, these things did nothing, it wasn't until I played Dune II for a couple of levels until they kept annoying me that it was a boring game, then they realized how awesome the game was. Two years later my bigger brother deceided to buy a X2 cd rom unit. We REALLY enjoyed some great games, like MEGARACE and Full throttle!! Until 1995 or so, with our 386 DX 40 mhz, 4 mb of ram, and a 2X cd rom unit, and a Sound blaster PRO. Such rig was becoming old. I get the shareware version of Command and Conquer... My brothers kept annoying me because this game had a minimum requeriment of having a 486 33 mhz or so. They insisted that this game would NEVER run on our computer. I insisted in trying it out... I installed the game and ran it. When the game installed and started with "ACT of instinct" song... It was the most awesome moment of my life! It sounded sooo cool that it really blew my mind off!! Not only for that, but also to prove my brothers they were wrong and I was right!!!! I just can't describe with words how I felt in that moment! of course, we played the three shareware missions for several months until we could get a hold of a pirated copy (we definetely couldn't afford an original copy).
This is the first game in c/ca and I wish thay was all still out in stores and not tied up with Amazon big tec I would rather go get a game or anything else from a store and skip the plastic all together interest could be extra money in my pocket foe something else I may want and there is still a lot of ww1andww2games that's not been remastered or screwed up by some idiot dope. Headed zombie twilight burn out minded or any of that other space inflicted b/s
I remember playing this game when I was like 6-7. I never knew that the MCV could deploy so I just used it to run over enemy infantry, I think i never made it past level 3 for some reason...
HAHA same!!! But then one time two of my friends at daycare (we were all 5) came over and showed me that you could open up the MCV and I was SO mind fucked it was like another world opened up. Map two was really, really hard without any buildings :D Those damn tesla coils...
I messed up school due to this game (and Simon the Sorcerer 2) 26 years ago lol... Wasted hundreds of hours on this game and stuff around. I remember having a CD with a level creator for C&C1 and hundreds of levels. I love these pixel graphics so much.
How do you stream that :-) i try to use obs studie and there are a Black screen on obs studie , but my 2 screen are command and conquer fine , i have try -win , for Window mode but its still fuld screen ?
I'm maybe 4 hours into the recent Warcraft 2 release on GOG and here I am watching this while re installing the Origin version of C&C. Command & Conquer did it better in 1995 folks. :P
I just had a memory of this mission and spent the better part of an hour figuring out what game, and mission it was! Thanks for posting this. One of the best games ever!
@EnixDark88 my friend i can help you ^^ right click on the taskbar and start the Taskmanager and close "Explorer" but first you have to start the game. i can make a video and can show you that ^^ if you wand a tutorial video. ^^

THAT was a game, Jesus, the nostalgia, I was around 14 years old or so...
and now you can play it again with upgraded graphics in 4k
"Reinforcements have arrived"
Man, this takes me back! The music, the gameplay. I feel bad for the young gamers these days.
I started with RA. RA2 was better in every way. Renegade was good and generals while fun the graphics sucked and were too cartoony. All the super sci-fi/spacey ones sucks in my opinion (outside of renegade).
@@SonOfTheDawn515 Homeworld 2 ftw ))
And i've been playing rts games since NetherEarth on Speccy ))
This is so ‘90’s, it’s unbelievable.
God I love this game! :')
I was 5 years old when I started playing this in 99
same here dude!
I played this with my father as a kid. We were both very impressed with even the installation. It was unreal to have a voiced-over installation process. Many a night were lost to this and Red Alert. I don't think I played any of the others, just those two.
This game was the coolest thing ever as a kid....
30 years ago. The moment my life changed and I became a PC GAMER.
This was RTS that started a new generation of RTS games: more isometric view, SVGA (640x480x256) graphics. I also love Dune 2000 from that era.
OMG Lord this give me chills hahahaha... I play this so much!!!! 1994/95 =)).. I was 14 years old,,
1994? I call bullshit. C&C came out in 1995.
@@11DNA11 OMGH IT IS BUULLLL SHIT!!!!! BAN HIM FROM YOUTYUBE LIERRRRR!!
I played this in the 90s as a young teen. I had forgotten that the music was so awesome.
So much nostalgia.. however I don't remember this game being quite so slow.
AICabal there was an option to change the game speed
First Rts i ever played and loved it. Till this day love all the Command And Conquer games up to Tiberian Sun.
Bo Danville Red Alert 2 was easily the best, for me, and CNC3 was amazing as well; did you not enjoy those? The series fell off with Red Alert 3 for me, personally.
@@garrett3108 red alert 2 is my favourite rts! I pretend nothing else after exists

I've caught myself trying to click on the units several times...
The cut scenes provided all the data your brain needed to fill in the details in the somewhat crude graphics
This game was awesome!! IMHO was much better and more tense with the music off.
LOL in those days you need to clic one by one the units
Playing this as a kiddo was the best time of my entire life, crying cringe binge drinking to these perfect memories in Feb 2020 :(
Watching this brings back so many memories!
best rts game hands down
"Babe please stop saying dumbass things ur nor even making any sense!"

The music is just an absolute nostalgia trip by its self.
This is how slow npcs walked in those days
And felt better than the stuff of today.
What a game... I still shiver hearing music and sounds ^^
EA is obviously going to cancel the remastered games.
I was probably 8 when I started playing this. Good old days, I think it was a Compaq computer windows 95 maybe.

Wow, this brought back some memories!
This and Crusader No Remorse were one of the first games to drop midi music. It was the beginning of a new era in PC game music.

now we have RISE OF THE REDS!
Man that music just got me in the feels.

@cainsean No the nod can't build in their first mission, they have to kill a general gdi; You had to wait the second mission to build something.
Actually this games was the first game i've ever played on my computer when i was 6 y.o :)
Damn the GDI really are having losses
