One of their most energetic and heavy songs is Mighty Long Fall from their 2016 Special live at Nagisaen. Taka calls for circle pits and like a dozen form. It's probably their best and most energetic show to date. It was a 2 day fest that had 110k people attend. The crowd is just epic.
11:51 I remember being surprised that they were being seemingly marketed as a boy band for their USA tour during around 2015. Sad times for some older fans, but I guess we got over it.
Hope u react to their other songs... I WAS KING (orchestra ver.) MIGHTY LONG FALL DECISION WHEN THEY TURN THE LIGHTS ON RENEGADES (LUXURY DISEASE TOUR 2023) 😊
For heavier stuff, highly recommended: - Deeper Deeper (Yokohama stadium 2014) - One by One (Saitama 35xxxv 2015) - Make It Out Alive (1Chance Festival 2023) - Neon (Luxury Disease Tour 2023) Waiting for more One Ok Rock! Thank you!
11:16 - best proof that this is musicians reaction XD You guys should definitely react to One Ok Rock' live version of "Take What You Want" from Ambition Tour Japan Dome 2018. This is the best live performance I've ever seen and the most heart-touching too. Just do not talk or pause at the beginning of the song - You will see why 🤫
The comment about what Toru chooses to play on guitar is an interesting one. I don't think I've ever seen any reactors mention that before. FYI, he used to be rhythm guitar. There used to be another guitarist, Alex, who was lead guitar, but due to some circumstances, he had to leave the band. (The drummer Tomoya is actually their second drummer too, but he's been with the band since their major debut.) "The Beginning" is my favorite song by the band. Never fails to get me pumped up. It's so fun to hear it in Japan too because you get the group head bang near the end. Just put your arms around whoever is next to you, even if it's a stranger, and head bang away. So much fun! For more songs with this kind of vibe, check out "Mighty Long Fall" at 35xxxv Japan Tour, "Deeper Deeper" and "NO SCARED" at Yokohama Stadium. I think you guys would enjoy Tomoya's channel, TOMOYA STUDIO, as well. He drums to OOR songs and explains the techniques behind them. They're all in Japanese with no subtitles, but I think music people will probably be able to kind of get a gist of what he's talking about. Oh, there's "Taking Off (Tomoya's Drum Ver.)" where the video is shot with a focus on him too. You might find that interesting.
Fun fact: OOR actually had two guitarists originally. Toru was the rhythm guitarist and the lead guitartst's name was Alex. Alex got into a groping scandal (he groped a young girl on a train) and as a consequence, he retired from the entertainment industry (Japan takes this really seriously, a scandal like this could have ended the whole band!). So they had to rearrange all of their songs for one guitar and Toru had to become a lead guitarist.
The Beginning was the beginning for me. I discovered them through this song a few years ago and have never looked back since. I saw them live for the 1st time last Dec'2023 in Bangkok and it was the best experiences in my life! I would definitely go see them live again in the future.
if you wanna hear something from them thats pretty much pure non-stop energy and rock i highly recommend "ONE OK ROCK 3xxxv5 Take me to the top Live". Its from my favorite time of OOR when they were doing a lot more aggressive music but also contrasting it with some very heartfelt tracks.
Taka does have a great voice, and he comes by it naturally. Both of his parents were both enka singers, and his brother is the vocalist for the band My First Story. And, and for funsies, the bassist is married to Avril Laigne's sister.
