That actually wasn't a travel...you can take as many steps as you want while dribbling the ball as long as you don't bring the ball under control...ie gathering the ball. He didn't gather until he put two hands on it and then only took 2 steps.

Mark M Funny thing is it actually wasn’t a travel. There is a rule in the NBA where you can take 2 steps after you gather the ball or when it is no longer legal to dribble. For example when you pick up the ball with two hands you gathered it because the next dribble would be called for double dribbling.

Half of those were not travel. Facts most fans and some players don’t understand about traveling.
1. # of steps don’t matter. You can take as many steps with your non-pivot foot.
2. Once the pivot foot is established it can leave the ground but not can not land again.
3. You can take as many steps as you want between dribbles.
4. The pivot foot is not established until the dribble ends. The dribble is not over until the ball is gathered with two hands or the players one hand is cradling the ball. In the NBA the gather step doesn’t count as your pivot foot. The next step is your pivot foot. That means there are 3.5 steps in the NBA before it’s illegal. First step (gather step) doesn’t count as a pivot foot yet. 2nd step becomes the pivot foot. Remember, you can lift your pivot foot, but it just can’t land, so you can perform another step with your non-pivot foot as your 3rd step and then lift your pivot foot as the final half step.
Basically, people need to stop thinking of traveling based on # of steps and instead base it on the pivot foot. Once the pivot foot is established it can not land on the floor again once it leaves the ground. The hard part is identifying which foot is the pivot foot. It’s not an easy call in real time for refs or fans.
In the end, most of these are not travel but a miss understanding of the rule and false perception of travel.

Fun video, but I'd like it more if it didn't pepper in a few that are very borderline, and maybe not even traveling. Remember that steps only start counting once the dribble is picked up, and you get one step in the lane, and if the ball is knocked out of your hands in the lane, you can gather it and take a full step (two half-steps).
