The Ritual, the book, is amazing. The film is nowhere close and actually looks like an extremely shortened preview, a cut of what you would experience reading the book. Big fan of your work, Adam. Wishing further success, cheers from Russia.
I’ve only read two of his books, so far and they were both fantastic. The Reddening and The Ritual. Looking for number 3 now. Very good author, he’s quite good at keeping you on the edge of your seat, wondering where things are going next. Exciting reads, for sure.
Loved the book, and liked the movie. The "monster" was exactly as I'd pictured it in my mind. We *need* to see more of Adam Nevill's work on the screen, all of it would translate to cinema brilliantly and terrifyingly. My personal wish is that somebody decent who knows exactly what they're doing makes a movie of his 'Lost Girl', one of his novels which has been tragically overlooked by a lot of his horror readers : the Earth slowly dying, a stolen child, the horrors enacted by ordinary people when they thirst and hunger, and a black clad, demonic spectre in rags, a dark Earthbound god with a vast legion of violent worshippers at its command. Somebody please make a movie of Lost Girl, and everyone should read it before they die.
Currently reading “Last Days,” and really liking it so far, I’m about halfway through. I really love the buildup and sense of unease and dread in the book. And the characters all feel real and relatable in some way or another. Glad I took a chance on Adam, I’m thinking about reading “No one gets out alive” next, since that’s the other book of bud I have right now.

I'm on Chapter Six of The Ritual, my first Nevil read. What a fantastic start. I can tell this is going to be really, really damn good!!!

Just listened to Hippocampus from his Wyrd and Other Derelictions short story collection. Damn this man can write.
